All I can say is Thank You Diane at Paso Robles Idler’s store. The customer service was excellent and Diane came through when it mattered the most. My husband and I had a freezer go down during the recent flood and we went in hoping to replace it. Diane went out of her way to get us a freezer and delivered it the same day. We didn’t lose any of our food and couldn’t be happier with the customer service we received! Thank you for being there when we really needed it the most.

They did a good job for me. price was very competitive. Very conscious about how they installed it. Their word of mouth referrals were very good and ended up being true.

Repair was efficient and informative. Over the last 40 years we have bought many appliances, no complaints. In 2000 we had a problem with a GE Induction cooktop that we purchased from Idlers and began having problems with burners not working while it was still under warranty. GE was discontinuing this cooktop and Idlers arranged a GE offer to pay 70% of a new cooktop of my choice. We are very happy with the gas cooktop we choose.
Description of Work: Bought a dishwasher $1400 + $99 instalation, and later in 2007 repaired the same dishwasher under extended warranty.

Stove was delivered the day before the outside installer came. The installer did a good job. He did additional work for us. We are very happy with our purchase.

After many, many years of using Idler's for our all large appliance repair, we finally are forced to change to a new repair service. The last three times we hired them, we were really unhappy. 1. They don't have enough repair people, so we had to wait over a week (once, almost three weeks) for someone to come look at the unit. 2. Each time, they had to come back multiple times because they did not repair it correctly. Once, we had to have them back FOUR times - the final time, they sent an older gentleman who diagnosed and repaired the problem in about 10 minutes. And the fix was a very, very simple thing. So we spent a ton of money on a new part that wasn't needed. So, we're found a new service. On a good note, their workmen are prompt, clean, and maintain a clean work area.

failed twice while previously IN warranty. When the refrigerator subsequently failed just after the dishwasher died, we beat feet and went to Sears to purchase two new appliances. Two-year-old appliances should not have to be replaced unless they are cheaply made and woefully maintained, and that was not the case in these instances.
Description of Work: We are still unhappy over treatment we received from Idlers, a company we had utilized previously for over 30 years. Two years after we purchased and installed two refrigerators, a dishwasher and stove from Idlers, we had to replace one refrigerator and a dishwasher. Both had JUST fallen out of warranty at the time, and the dishwasher had been repaired twice DURING the warranty for the same problematic part. Idlers refused to consider repairing the dishwasher unless we paid for the same part and service that had

Description of Work: I recently purchased a stove , double ovens, dishwasher, a washer and dryer with pedestals. Upon delivery the dryer did not work properly and was very warm and had a scraping sound. It needed a new motor and blower housing. I requested they supply me with another new dryer and was told they do not supply new appliances, to replace new appliances that don't function. They would only repair what I had just had delivered. When I asked what would happen if the repairs don't work and was told , they just keep repairing them. The next misunderstanding took place with the dishwasher. Since it's installation I have wet and spotted dishes. I read the manual and tried every cycle available. I finally called Bosch and explained , I was having to wash everything by hand ,as nothing dried well and everything was spotted.I gave them my model number and they explained that the model I had purchased did not have a heating element. I had honestly never heard of a dishwasher without that feature. I wish the salesperson had mention this to me, as I would have never purchased this model.Bosch explained that I must have Jet Dry in the unit and that the Jet Dry along with the water makes everything dry without spots. This is not true and I have soft water. I am very disappointed in Idler's of San Luis Obispo. I am currently in the process of purchasing a new dishwasher and not from Idler's. On a positive note , I was extremely pleased with the service department and the delivery crew. They expidited finding the parts for my dryer the same day, and came back to do the repairs. It might be beneficial to management and sales staff to pick up some hints on customer satisfaction, from your delivery and service staff. They even delivered your peculiar replcement policy in a polite manner.Hope you pay them well.

Response from Idler’s Home Paso Robles
I am so sorry you feel this way Member as it seemed to me we had worked through the bumps in your project. When I was out at your beautiful home 2011 the kitchen looked beautiful and it seemed you were pleased. My family and fellow workers have labored for almost 60 years to provide honest good but maybe not perfect service. If I have let you down please let me know what I can do. You know my number at the store. Don Idler President Idler's Inc.

We have purchased many appliances from Idler's, and they did our kitchen remodel a few years ago as well. When our washer's spin cycle started to sound like a jet engine taking off, we called Idler's to come take a look at it. Turns out to be a problem with the bearings and the entire machine needs to be disassembled and inner and outer drums (?) replaced. We have scheduled this follow-up repair visit for next week. Since we had purchased the extended warranty, the labor and replacement parts will be fully covered. We had a similar good experience a couple of years ago when the glass top on our gas range cracked. A replacement was installed free of charge since it was still under warranty. We've been very impressed with the service and professionalism of everyone we've dealt with at Idler's, from sales to installation to service. Just wish they did bathrooms - our next house project!

Very poor customer service, sales advice, and horrible installation skills. These people should be avoided at all costs.
Description of Work: This company has really gone downhill in service and quality. They bungled two installations and took a jigsaw to newly installed cabinets plus the dishwasher installation kit was stripped and had to be repaired. They really have very poor customer service and when we pointed out the second bad installation of the second microwave the service man's answer was "well it works doesn't it." These guys are very unprofessional and I warn anyone buying items from this vendor to not have them install the items! My contractor says he frequently gets work repairing Idler's mistakes so beware. We bought a new refridgerator - and they did not advise us to get a counter depth one so it sticks out too far. We bought a dishwasher and the installation kit was stripped and our contractor had to repair several parts just to install it We bought a microwave with cover plate for our wall and the first installation left a gaping area at the bottom where food would fall into the wall. We complained at time of installation and the service man said 'that's just the way it is.' So we went back to the store and were told 'they don't make micrtowaves like they used to," so paid more for a different microwave that had dimensions that would fit in our newly refurbished cabinets. Then 3 servicemen came out to install one microwave, they were having trouble fitting it in the space and then I heard a jigsaw being used on my new cabinetry! I ran to inspect it and he siad the dimensiI see screw holes visible at the top of this new microwave and trim kit. I complain that my new kitchen looks marred and he says "I didn't drill those they are from the old microwave." When I suggested the microwave be shimmed to cover the holes the head installer said he wasn't equipped to do that and left saying "well the microwave works doesn't it?" Extremely bad service. Now I get to pay my contractor to reinstall and correct their errors.

er Our clothes washer was leaking water. The warranty had expired less than a month earlier. It cost $90.00 dollars to have a service person come out. He called to say when he would arrive, and then he showed up two hours earlier without calling again. He was unapologetic for arriving so early. Luckily, we were home. He came in and checked the machine. He informed us that the water level was too high for the amount of clothes in the washer, and that was the reason it leaked water. I asked him to please move the machine out a little so I could clean behind it and wipe up any more water. He said, why bother, no no will see behind it anyway.. He did not move the machine or make any effort to clean around it. He then collected the $90.00 and left. Since his visit, the washing machine makes a lot more noise than it did before he came and "worked" on it. I was extremely disappointed with the service, and I felt that $90.00 was way too much for what was done. Not only will I not buy any more service contracts from Idler's, but I will not shop there again.
Description of Work: Clothes washer was leaking water. The Service call, for which we had to wait several days, was to determine why the clothes washer was leaking.

It is the best place in town. They are dependable and reliable. I found that in most of the categories that I looked at and I went back and used the ones that put their names around town. I don’t remember how much I spent but I’m sure it was reasonable. I have nothing to compare their prices to. I will use their services again in the future.

The service tech fixed the door gasket, spent a long time chatting to the jenn-air staff about matters unrelated to our refrigerator. When he left we thought the problem may have been fixed. He told us not to call Idler's back if we had further problems, but to go directly through Jenn-Air service. It wasn't until the second repair tech came out that I realized how bad our first repair call from Idler's had been. There was a 2 inch hole in the back of the frig that was a constant water/air leak and the drain issue was easily fixed. I would not recommend Idlers service and am disappointed I just purchased multiple appliances from them.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator which is under warranty and purchased from this company 4/09, always had excessive condensation and the drain was not working so the top shelf of the unit was a big puddle. Because we had purchased the unit from Idler's we called them for service.

We'd been very happy with our old Whirlpool refrigerator, but it finally died of old age. Idlers Appliance sold us a new Whirlpool. Because it had a scratch on the side, the price was reduced. The salesman stated that the damage was cosmetic only and would not effect the use or operation of the unit in any way. He said that Idlers tested all the cosmetically damaged units to make certain of this. Feeling secure that the unit was only superficially damaged with the one indicated scratch, I chose the floor model rather than waiting a week or two for an order. Three days later, Idlers service employees came to the house to install it. They were very conscientious and polite. During installation, they snapped the bolt that supports the fridge door. (the installers added a note to our receipt reflecting this) They then continued the installation process by starting to drill a new hole for a different bolt. It was so noisy and jarring to the fridge, that we asked them to stop. We were concerned that such traumatic jerryrigging would not bode well for the life of the fridge and might nullify the warranty with the maker, Whirlpool. We called the Idlers manager who said Idlers would leave the unit with us as a loaner only. (our receipt reflects this). He said Idlers would order us a new one at no additional cost. It was to arrive in about a week. So far, so good. Our decision to accept the unit as a loaner was based on this proposed remedy. We were very pleased. This is why we chose a locally owned dealer. Well, come Monday morning, a different Idlers employee said that they would not do that, that he did not know why the other manager would have said such a thing. He proposed that Idlers come out and drill that new hole to make it right. No word as to how this might effect the warranty or future functioning of the fridge. An unstable door and a defunct warranty is not a "cosmetic" issue in my book. If Idlers will not stand behind their word to replace the faulty unit (that they broke!), I expect them to return my money so I can purchase a different refrigerator. What a shame! We've really enjoyed working with Idlers over the years and would like to continue to do so. We're also waiting for a reply from Whirlpool regarding a warranty's validity, and a refrigerator's quality, after appliance dealers start drilling new holes in the door. We'll update you with the rest of the story as it develops. Meanwhile, our wonderful neighbors have offered to loan us their extra fridge. We're moving it from their garage to ours later this morning! (You see, there's no room in our kitchen because we have this loaner-in-limbo that Idlers left back when we believed they'd replace it...)
Description of Work: Idlers sold us a new Whirlpool refrigerator, complete with warranty and installation. They came to the house to install it. During installation, Idlers broke the door and could not repair it without drilling a new hole in the door. We spoke with the manager we were referred to, and opted for his offer to accept the broken unit as a loaner while Idlers ordered us a new refrigerator (with a factory built functional door) at no additional cost. But two days later, Idlers called saying they would not do that after all.

A burner on our stove top would not light with the spark lighter. We phoned the company and explained the problem. The person scheduling the appointment did not tell the service man what the problem was. When he arrived, he made a minor adjustment he said he could have talked us through over the phone. But since he came out, there was a $90 charge. He was in our home for all of five minutes.
