A-Town was one of four other companies we asked to bid on the job. We dealt exclusively with Manny the owner of the company. Communication with Manny via txt and voice was superb. When we first started this project we were looking at Window World and Milguard windows. Manny first spoke to my wife and arranged a time to meet and discuss the project. He was prompt and thourough. He measured each window and suggested that we use Milguard Style Line windows and he would get us a quote after he talked to his supplier. Manny's superior professionalism was demonstrated on several occasions. You will see in the upcoming description that we changed our mind at three times about what we wanted. Manny was only interested in doing what we wanted and never displayed any negative or frustrating emotions while we figured it out. While he was getting us a quote we learned about double hung windows and decided that they would work best for us in several of the rooms so we contacted Manny and he suggested that we use the Milguard Tuscany windows since they had a double hung option while the Style Lines didn't. Manny was extremely professional and always looking out for us. We have two picture windows in our garage that another company quoted with Tuscany windows but Manny suggested that we use the Style Line to save some money since the windows would look almost identical due to the lack of outside trim required. Manny went above and beyond to give us what we wanted. After Manny provided us a quote using the Tuscany and Style Line windows we fell in love with the Simonton Maderia windows and decided to use them. When I contacted Manny and told him this he was disappointed he couldn't do the work for us since he didn't have a supplier for them. Instead of trying to bash our choice and push us to use the windows he could get, he got off the phone with me went out and found a supplier who could get the Simonton windows. Manny's integrity and honesty were refreshing. Even though it could have meant that he didn't get the job he informed us before we accepted his proposal he was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks and wanted to make sure that we were aware of this and that it was ok with us. In the end Manny didn't have the lowest price nor did he have the highest. We decided to use him because of the glowing recommendations of our Sister-in-law's realtor who had used him in the past on several jobs. Based on our interaction with him he demonstrated all the traits she had professed. After choosing A-Town we sent a check directly to his supplier and the windows and doors were ordered the day they got the check. On the day he returned from his time off we got a call and he wanted to know if we could have him start the work 3 days ahead of schedule on a weekend. This was amazing for us. I was planning on taking a day off to make sure someone was available while they were working and now I was getting the work done earlier and without having to take a vacation day. Manny showed up at the scheduled time with 2 helpers and proceeded to explain to me how the process for replacing the windows worked and asked if I had any questions or concerns. They then jumped in and got to work. They were polite and clean and worked around our needs with regards to which windows we wanted done first due to relocating our animals and providing access to the backyard. When a possible issue arose with the fit of the windows and our existing wood siding Manny immediately informed me. He then explained those concerns and gave me several options to chose from. He included all the short term and long term ramifications of my decision. Armed with the information Manny provided me I made my educated choice and it worked out superbly. We really appreciated Manny's attention to detail and his positive attitude towards all of our questions and concerns. The doors were the last items to be installed and required the most effort. After installing the mirrored doors we noticed that one of them had a slight bow in the middle on one side. When we brought it to Manny's attention he quickly looked at it and explained what was causing it and fixed it. When he removed the old sliding door an opportunity presented itself for him to hurry up and try to force the door to fit or take longer and remove another filler board to ensure it would fit. He choose quality over profit and took out that filler board. When he was finished we did a walk through and discovered a couple of windows that hadn't been chalked on the outside and he took care of it immediately. He cleaned up all the trash and waste from the new and old windows including all the vinyl shavings from the cuts he made to properly size the windows. He explained to us that we needed to let the windows set for 24 hours and we shouldn't wash or touch them during that time. In addition he pointed out the pine trim he used to square up the sliding patio door and what needed to be done to paint it. This was such a positive experience for us we will definitely use A-Town Glass again and will recommend them to anyone needed windows.

The project started off well but ended in a consumer disaster. The simple parts of the project went reasonably well and on time. Showers were simple and straightforward. The wine cellar glass was more complicated but finally was installed. The French doors were a completely different matter. 3 of them were to replace existing older sliders and 2 were new installs where only windows had been. We trusted Atown to secure our doors with a discount but found out later they were fully marked up from the same supplier we purchased all new interior doors. The doors were installed and EVERY ONE of the five had problems. They are upper line Milgard doors with integrated screens. On the day of installation we told Atown that the master bedroom screen would not retract and therefore was unusable. To this day it still remains partly open, not allowing us to open the door completely or have access to clean it. Every other door has hanging weather stripping ( which is now tearing and deformed) making closing the doors extremely difficult and very difficult to secure and lock. They are off kilter so that with use of each one there is metallic grinding sound. Atown?s owner told us not to worry that Milgard had a team that would come out in a timely fashion and adjust and correct all the problems and he would contact the supplier to get it scheduled. The job was completed in March of 2014. All of the fees were either paid as the job was in progress and each step was completed, almost always on the day of the completion of that part. Custom glass and mirrors were paid for IN ADVANCE! We called Manny, the owner repeatedly through the months as well as calling our general who assured me he had also contacted Atown many times. On August 4 after complete exasperation and disgust, still not knowing what distributor the doors were gotten from I called Milgard direct. They told me that they had NEVER received a request from either the supplier (see review of Artisan Doors and Windows San Luis Obispo) or our installing company Atown glass. Summation is that Atown, although adequate in their skills are totally unaccountable to the consumer. Repeated calls by both our construction supervisor and ourselves to Atown went no further and our doors remain poorly functional. We cannot be positive about the experience overall and would definitely NOT suggest using Atown glass and window.
