Description of Work: Sunset Glass replaced a shower door. They encountered a problem with a gap between the tile and the wall. The job took 5 hours (estimated to be 3 at most). The guys worked it out and the result is great.

Description of Work: Juan was very nice, professional and helpful. The company would not honor my big deal voucher because the amount for the job was not high enough. I was disappointed because this was not specified in the voucher before I purchased it, but have no other negative interactions with the company. I may still use them for the job.

Description of Work: Everything handled by email. Heard from vendor right away. Scheduled an appointment. Provided measurements for a shower door. Price quote was $875 for the same size door available special order from Lowes for $300. Told them their shower door price was too high, but that I wanted to apply $89 coupon price toward cost of a mirror, since company does them too. On the day of appointment, vendor was a no show. I emailed vendor 30 mins after scheduled appt time. Took 2 days to respond, then suggested that I seek a refund from Angie's List.

Description of Work: I had called on Sunset Glass once before for a minor repair and everything went very smoothly. This time we had two cracked panes of glass and some badly deteriorated caulk, so I called them again based on our previous positive experience. Unfortunately, this time things did not go well. The owner came out and gave me an estimate to replace two panes of glass in a large window made up of 12 panes. The house is 60 years old and much of the caulking on this and one other window was in bad shape. He gave me an estimate of $650 for the whole job - replacing the panes and re-caulking several of the panes on the two windows. Two young employees, apparently the son and nephew of the owner, came out a couple of days later. They spent the entire day removing the caulk, replacing the two panes and re-caulking. They were noisy and messy, but we figured that was just part of the job. After dark they walked directly into the house without knocking, and asked for the check. We paid them, and stupidly on our part, did not check the work at that time because it was already dark. The next day we found that the work was not finished and the area had not been cleaned up! The caulk had not been applied evenly around each pane and had not been applied at all in some places. There was old caulk and gobs of new caulk all over, but most shocking of all, there were glass shards left on the ground both outside and inside the house! I called and expressed my extreme dissatisfaction, and was told that they had not finished and intended to come back. They had not said anything about returning, and they had already taken the check for the work. The owner, to his credit, came out that day to look at the work, and I think he was shocked and angry at the shoddy work. He promised that the work and the clean-up would be completed. Two days later one of the workers came back and did finish the job by himself. I am pleased that the owner did follow up and insist that the work be finished properly, but I would not use this company again.

Description of Work: Fixed patio door and windows in bedroom, living and dining rooms. Inspected door and windows and were able to fix door and windows in bedroom within half an hour. Other windows were fixed satisfactory as soon as parts were received. Two other contractors were not as thorough and had suggested replacing windows. Truly satisfied with Sunset Glass and would highly recommend them.

Description of Work: Juan is great, humble, honest and ready with solutions stemming from the experience a multi-generation local family owned biz. They are here to stay and recognize their bread-and-butter is to keep their customers happy. | |I was originally concerned about these windows since my project was relatively small and didn't require many rooms with entire replacements. Moreover, I remember how much they cost when I did the original install - it was going to be ugly. | |I had two double-pane windows that had the glass on the outside of eachside cracked and I delayed fixing them because I didn't want to hear the sales pitches of replacing the whole window, blah, blah. So when Juan came, I was mentally prepared to wince and argue. But I was hopeful when I met Juan, a soft spoken problem solver. He asked smart questions, then examined the window frame, how the walls were framed around them to make sure the damage wasn't systemic to construction, took measurements all with skill and speed. But in my head, I was particularly worried about an odd sized window that we had specially designed and ordered for the house. So, as I prepped for my fight, he took a cheap shot and didn't even bring up replacing the entire window. He didn't even bring up replacing both sides of glass. He didn't even suggest that I should replace a single strip of window frame. instead, he said all I needed to do was to replace the broken glass and he could pull the pieces to take back to his shop to make precise cuts and seals, and....wait for it....bring it back to install and clean later that day. Same UV eGlass. Then, when he said the price, it was about 1/5th the cost of one of the windows. I'm pretty sure I died or passed out. And a 230lb Samoan doesn't pass out easily. | |He honored his word and cleaned up his work and I only wish that I used them to do all the windows during our original whole-home remodel. So, Angie's. To your question, "What did they do? How did it go?" They made my life simpler and they restored my faith in an honest day's work. Nice to know that small town ethics and quality still exist in a big town world.

Description of Work: Ivan and Manuel just finished installing laminated glass in 4 wood-framed sashes. The quote was reasonable and the work was done in a very professional manner. They also suggested fixes to the old sashes and when they brought them, they looked like new. It was a very impressive indication of their dedication to detail. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Description of Work: I had a leak from my upstairs bathroom to the downstairs bathroom caused by a leak from the shower door. The person who came out from Sunset was very professional, ascertained the problem and then gave me a quote. It seemed fair, the gentleman then spent over an hour fixing the shower door. The leak was fixed and I gave the person an extra $25 for a great job.

Description of Work: I made an appointment via e-mail for 9:00 a.m. for Sunset Glass to come look at my shower door. I gave my cell phone number and address. When no one showed at 9:00, I called the office to check on the appointment. Was told he was running behind and would be there by 9:30. Since i had to leave for work I said 9:30 was the latest I could do it. When he showed up at 10:00 I was on my way out the door. I tried to call several times starting at 9:40 to cancel the appointment but no one answered at Sunset Glass. I've never been treated so poorly by any contractor on Angie's List. I do not understand all the glowing reports about this contractor -- they are completely opposite of what I experienced.

Description of Work: My bedroom window mysterious cracked during the early Sunday morning. I called Sunset Glass and they were able to make a visit one hour after I called. They did a great job in replacing the glass. Enough said
