Description of Work: It did not go well for several reasons. This was a job involving fixing up three fireplaces in a house we were remodeling. I felt that they engaged in bait and switch in the pricing. They inspected the chimneys (the house has three fireplaces) and the boss quoted $7500 to fix all the existing issues, but then his second in command (I want to say hi son-in-law, but I'm not sure) increased the price by $2500 at the last minute, just as I was about to sign the contract, citing a bunch of confusing gobbledygook about why they had to increase the price. I suspected it was nonsense designed solely to increase the price, but I reluctantly agreed to it because I needed to get the work done and the increased price was still within the range our original purchase inspector had led us to expect.. | |Then, after they were finished with the chimneys they told me that there were serious issues with the pipes delivering the gas to one fireplace and said I had to replace the pipes for safety's sake. They quoted a reasonable sounding price, I agreed to let them do it, and they replaced the pipes inside the fireplace itself. After they were done, I couldn't find the valve to turn the gas on. I complained and they sent the installation technician back. When I asked the technician where the valve was, he said he didn't know -- he couldn't find it either! I asked him how he tested the new pipes he had installed; he said he didn't because he couldn't find the valve. Mind you -- they took my money and said NOTHING about this when they "finished" their work on the pipes in the fire place. They then said that all the gas pipes under the house for the fireplace were bad, that a new valve was needed, and they offered to charge me a lot of money to put in the new pipes and new valve. At that point I gave up on them and got somebody else to do the work. | |We also had a misunderstanding about installing a new mantle. We went through an elaborate sales process to pick out a new mantle and fireplace front, with lots of talk about how they would take care of the job, and they bid a price, which I accepted. But when it came time to install the mantle, I was told that installation wasn't part of the bid and would cost a lot more money. I negotiated them down on that, and they finally did the work, but the installation work was sloppy. I got our contractor for the rest of the remodeling job to fix it up.

Description of Work: A new townhome that I purchased the fireplace did not work. It was a short sale so no home warranty. I contacted Royal and they responded on the day and time as promised. Components were removed to be fixed and returned about a week later. They worked around my late hours being away from home. The unit work and service was as stated. The service was courteous and very respectful of my home leaving it clean when he was done.

+ 0 moreHarry sent over Manny and a co-worker -- both efficient, friendly people. We recently moved in and our 14' gas/wood chimney hadn't been cleaned in years. Manny swept it and inspected, found cracked mortar and bricks, followed with an estimate for insulating with a sleeve and fire mortar. Haven't decided to do it yet, but great job overall!

+ 1 moreHarry was able to schedule my fireplace cleaning, and chimney inspection within one week of my initial call. Because of a cancelation, his workers came 2 days earlier. They were neat and covered all the area around the fireplaces - while one man swept the chimney, the other was vacuuming all of the soot that came down as well as cleaning inside the firebox. They were very efficient, and completed the work in an hour. They made some recommendations for other work that was optional, and provided an estimate for what it would cost. There was, however, no pressure to complete that work at this time. Overall it was a positive experience, and I would recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: 3 chimneys were inspected, and 2 fireplaces were also completely cleaned.

+ 1 moreThey were excellent. They were very good and very reasonable. They went out of their way to help us. They came promptly and they did the job promptly. They did excellent cleanup. They were really all around. We are thinking about getting new gas logs and if we do, we will definitely go back to them. Their price was very fair. I think they had a special at the time and they were cheaper than anyone else. The quality was wonderful. We will definitely use them again.

+ 2 moreMy overall experience was great, highly recommend. Harry was friendly and easy to talk to. I wasn't low balled and their were no delays in the work performed. Everything was delivered as promised and on time.
Description of Work: After the last rain storm that hit LA, my chimney started to leak into the living room. I did a quick Google search and found a few companies. Harry from Royal Fireplace answered my call and personally came down to give me an estimate. The estimate included repair costs to the chimney, cleaning of the chimney, and a new set of gas logs. They did the job in 2 phases, first repair and clean the chimney and then install the gas logs. The logs are GREAT! I am very happy with their service. I also recommended them to a friend that got a similar set of gas logs and a BBQ grill. My friend was also very happy.

+ 1 moreI called about a 30 year-old fireplace wouldn't light. They stated that the valve probably needed to be cleaned and/or replaced and quoted me a price of $350 + tax. The service man came within the hour and took the inside of the fireplace to their shop. Two days later they re-installed the refurbished fireplace. The next day I smelled gas and they returned within the hour and found a loose screw that was allowing a leak. There was no further trouble after the second visit.
Description of Work: Restored the valve system for my gas fireplace.

+ -1 moreI went to the store and was greeted very professionally. I was given recomendations and advice as to what I needed. I had them come out and measure our fireplace for a custom fit door the next day. They even gave us an evening appointment so my husband could be there. We had done other quotes and were very pleased with the professionalism from royal fireplace. They didn't try to sell us things that were unneccessary, like all the other companies did. We ordered the door that night. We were told it would be 3 weeks for it to come in. In 3 weeks they called for an install date. They came out that Saturday. Wow! They were fast, neat, and even asked if anyone was sleeping. The installer gladly removed his shoes when entering our house. We are so pleased with how the door looks and works. We even bought a mantle and mailbox from them. They delivered it when they came to install our door at no extra charge. Very competive prices and excellent service.
