The owner gave me a large quote with little detail about how the repairs were to be done or when they would be completed. I had a bad feeling about this place and picked up the rug. The person who was there couldn't find it for 1/2 hour and was not pleased that I was picking it. She dragged it out from the back room and tossed it at my feet. I rolled it up and took it back to my car. Before I could leave she demanded that I give her my receipt. I went to Nesbit Rugs and got a better job for less cost.

The folks at Pasadena Oriental Rug seem to really know their subject. Clearly, they are people who have been doing this for generations, and love what they do. I chose them because they air dry the rug, instead of using heaters which could shrink or damage the wool. They were punctual and friendly, and easy to work with. I felt like our rug would be treated well, and since it has been in my family a long time, that was important to me. They were able to give me more info about the rug, which was bought by my uncle when he was a merchant marine for my folks in the 1950s. Turns out the rug was made in the 1920's, and it is an uncommon solid color design with plush designs in 2 corners. Nice to talk to people who know a lot about antique rugs.

Cleaned two large rugs on very short notice. They were willing to do it for me even though it was a quick turnaround. Both rugs looked good as new afterwards, even though there were pet stains on one of them. They even repaired one rug for free. Well played, POR, well played!

They charged high and tried to get more work out of me than what I needed. They charged several thousand dollars.

I was pleased with the job that was done. The repair on the frayed edges is undetectable from the original. The repair on the hole is detectable if you look closely, but the colors blend almost perfectly so you only notice if you know where to look. The cat urine smells were removed. I had brought the rug in right before Christmas, and the rug was promised back before Christmas. They delivered on time as promised.

The rugs are of excellent quality, and the cleaning was also very well done.

I took the first rug in for cleaning and was informed that it had moths and they were separating the weave - for my lack of better way to explain... It was going to take 10 days to clean and re-sew the outer weave. I decided to bring in the second rug - it was being eaten even worse. If I take them in every year for a cleaning and keep the pad to prevent moths under them, they should be fine. He confirmed that they are very expensive and will last forever...
