They did an ok job. They were thorough. In fact, they did some stuff they didn’t charge me for. I would like to get a second opinion before I did any kind of repair work because I do not know whether they were high or on the low end. As far as the inspection stuff, they did a very professional job. Somebody else recommended them to me. They would be one of the companies that I would have people use for inspection and if there was any repair work, I would like to get a second opinion to find out whether or not their price was average or too high. I am sure to find out whether or not the condo board is going to take any kind of repair because I think the chimney is outside the four walls of the condo. I’ll have to find out about that. I think they were professional. If I find out that their price is comparable to somebody else’s, I would use their services in the future.

They did a great job. They basically knocked my chimney down and rebuilt it. It was mortar and brick and they did a stucco chimney. They rebuilt the inside of it too. They rebuilt the firewall. I spent $11,300 altogether. They were great. I would recommend them to others and would use them again in the future.

They rebuilt my chimney. everything passed inspection. the workers were extremely professional and courteous. When an issue came up about the style of the chimney box the owner came out and met with me. I appreciated their ability to attend to client concerns.

BB&S did an excellent job and our fireplace looks fantastic. When we bought our house, they did an inspection and recommended the firebox be repaired due to cracks that would compromise the fireplace's safety. Of course, when they actually went to do the work, they found quite a bit more wrong. Seems the crown wasn't up to code, nor the gas line. A considerable amount of money later, we have a safe fireplace that we know will last for years to come. The crew was professional, clean and patient with our toddlers trying to watch them.

The cleaner and inspector came out... after the cleaning was complete, the inspector went over all the repairs that should be done to make the fireplace safe for use. We decided to get the work done that could further damage the fireplace. We did not do any of the repairs that will make the fireplace usable... that will come when we have some more money. They did a great job.

They did a wonderful job. It turned out beautifully and they did a great job. Everything was wonderful. They were very professional and they do beautiful work. They did everything perfectly. They had the best price and the quality was great. They took care of the whole job and I had no issues. They did it when they said they would.

They were very nice and courteous, but the price of $35,000 was way out of my range of what I was expecting. I did not use them but would get a quote from them in the future if the price was right.

The team is very professional. Gets the job done quickly and cleans up after themselves. We have used them before and will continue to use them

I forget the price of the inspection. They did tell us that we needed to have the chimney taken down from the "shoulder" up and rebuilt. Again, I don't remember the estimated cost, but it was well into the thousands. We could not afford the price so we just decided not to use the fireplace. Later we hired a mason (Jeff Miller) to install some drains in our backyard patio to prevent the flooding we experienced during rains. We asked him to look at the chimney. He climbed up on the roof and pushed on the chimney. He said he could barely budge it whereas the Boston mason had said he could move it a lot. Jeff recommended that we try a fire in the fireplace and see if any smoke escaped from the area where the chimney had been previously patched ( it was this patch that we were worried about in the first place.) To tell the truth we never have tried out the fireplace, but it just seemed as though the Boston company was too eager to prescribe a very expensive fix.

I am posting this report since my parents don't have an "Angie's" account. See "Services Perfomed". My parents contracted for a new garage door and are very happy with the job.

If we sell the house we'll probably use them to do the work. It went very well. Their price was competitive.

They are a good quality service. They are a first rate company. I felt very secure with them working on my property.

They did a great job. They were timely, professional and very courteous. The chimney looks and works great. We did have one minor leak which showed up with the heavy rains we got in December, but they've already came out to fix the problem and did not try to claim they weren't responsible as I am sure many contractors would have done.

Used this company as a repeat customer, since they'd done a great job rebuilding an earthquake damaged chimney several years ago. Should have solicited other bids. This was very expensive for what was ultimately performed. The fence has gone out of plumb and the gate won't close now. Had them look at it once, but all they did was sand the wood down - not a good solution. The concrete work was good.

They did a really nice job, the people were absolutely on time, professional and finished in the time they said. I had a question about one procedure and they were very patient and explained everything to me. I would definitely use them again. I haven't used the fireplace yet, but as they did everything according to code, I am confident all is well,and if it isn't, I'm confident they'll come out immediately and fix it.

What can I say? Alex, the lead foreman and supervisor, is just a dream. If you are lucky enough to have him supervise your job, you won?t be disappointed. He's extremely skilled, patient, hard-working, and willing to do just about anything to please the client. There was a bit of an ordering mishap with our glass doors, but that was an office issue having nothing to do with Alex. And, in fairness to Dave, the owner, all was resolved well in our favor. This is a top-notch shop comprised of wonderful workers and a fantastic owner. Obviously, customer service comes from the top, as all of Boston Brick & Stone workers illustrate this fine quality. I?m very glad we chose them, and my husband and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

I highly recommend this company. I needed to repair my crumbling concrete walkway, broken stairs and sagging porch. I contacted Boston Brick and Stone for an estimate, and they impressed me right away. Throughout my experience with this company, each person I spoke with was knowledgeable about their job, courteous, and great communicators. They were patient with all my questions and concerns. Once the work commenced, they arrived for work daily, and I received a phone call from the office at the end of most days, telling me what to expect on the next day's schedule. Once, when they couldn't proceed with the work due to rain, the office called to advise me. The discovery of extensive termite damage in the archway was unexpected, but clearly needed repair, and Boston Brick was fully capable of handling the extra tasks. This did, of course, result in a change order and extra time and money, but the additional charge seemed very reasonable considering the extent of the extra work. The stucco repair on the archway matches the surrounding stucco perfectly, so you can't tell where the repair was done - the only criticism I have is that the finish painting on the stucco was not performed as neatly as I would have liked. The mason who did the finish brick work had over 20 years experience with this company, and he did very attractive work. Everything was hauled away and cleaned up afterwards. I am extremely pleased with the final results: the porch, stairs, archway and walkway are all solidly rebuilt, and BEAUTIFULLY refinished. I have received many compliments from neighbors on the improvement. In rating this company, I've given them all "A"s, however, since I did not seek out bids from other companies I made no grade on the price. I can only say that I feel I got my money's worth.

It was a three part project. I did not have working drawings I just had a design. I felt that their taking of that design and turning into the finished product was great. I would give them a strong grade for that. The planter, which is about 8 feet long went below the foundation of the house. I thought for the infrastructure part of this I would have to give them an A. I give them a B for the actual stonework that they did. it was very workman like and decent but I can't say that it was a "WOW" quality. They also put electrical up the walkway and that was very good. I have to say on the irrigation that they represented to me that they could do the project from start to finish. When it got to the irrigation part of it they never did a written irrigation plan. It was a plan by taking me and walking around. After that I had to have another person come and redo a number of things. My advice is to use them for stone work but do not use them for irrigation because they do not know what they are doing.

We have lived in our home for 12 years and use the fireplace every winter a lot and have never had it cleaned. They arrived on time, 4 guys in all, two to actually do the work, one supervisor and one technician. They blocked off the area with plastic, had these handy dandy sticks that they kept adding onto to make it longer and were able to reach clear to the top to clean. They could not go on the roof because we have concrete tile roof. After the supervisor visually inspected the interior, the technician took a camera up inside and looked for any cracks, discoloration or anything unusual. We got a clean bill of health and I happily wrote a check for $99. When my husband saw all of them come in, he whispered to me that with that many guys they would be finding all sorts of things wrong and the bill would come in at $1500, To the contrary they said our chimney was built extremely well, and who ever built it knew what they were doing.

We are buying a house and our home inspector found significant damage to the chimney. We wanted to have the chimney inspected to get an idea of the cost to repair it to help in our negotiations with the sellers. Boston Brick and Stone was the second company I called. The first wanted $200 for the same (industry-standard) inspection and couldn't give me an exact appointment, just a 2-hour window. Boston Brick and Stone gave me an exact time (important because we had to get access to a house not yet ours!) and a price of $80 - no comparison! Our technician, Mark, was not only on time, he was about fifteen minutes early and got started right away. He was very polite and professional. During the camera inspection of the interior of the chimney, he showed me the screen and explained the damage and how they would fix it. Our appointment was in the late morning and he sent the report and estimate by 5pm that evening. Also, he was very responsive when I asked the next day for a second estimate for only a subset of the work. We are not going to have the repairs done right away, but the report alone helped us with our purchase negotiations. We will definitely consider Boston Brick and Stone when it comes time to do the repairs due to the professionalism shown in the inspection process.

Our pool deck epoxy coating is cracking & peeling. Mark Peters said his company, Boston Brick & Stone does not handle this kind of job. Then he called a sandblaster & stained concrete artist to help us and waited for one of his associates to arrive to give us an estimate. This kindness & generosity of spirit is a rare experience in this world, as well as speaks volumes to the integrity of the Boston Brick & Stone company. We will hire Boston Brick & Stone for our next project, a new driveway. Do not hesitate to call this excellent company!

I could see that there was structural damage to my chimney (earthquakes) and after many years of procrastinating decided that it was time to deal with it. When I called Boston Brick and Stone they responded immediately and provided me with a very thorough inspection report, complete with color photos. It did not come as a surprise that my 81-year old non-reinforced chimney was in bad shape. Once the company agreed to be responsible for obtaining the approval from my neighborhood historical preservation committee, I signed the contract. Since several city inspections were required and you never know about the weather, the contract allowed for 5 weeks to complete the job. Because all the inspections took place on time and all phases of the work were completed in a timely manner in good weather, they finished in 2 weeks. From beginning to end the workers were punctual, professional, and friendly. They were respectful of my neighbors and their property. Clean-up was never a problem. When a question came up concerning ceiling supports, they called in the expert who came out quickly, thereby delaying the work by just a few hours. Everything was done with great care (as far as I could tell) including matching the paint color when they finished the job. The chimney looks great! I was so happy with their work that I had them return (at additional cost) to relocate my gas on/off valve outside the fireplace and to repair some cracks in my stone walkway. I was highly satisfied with this work as well. My experience with Boston Brick and Stone has been a very positive one. It was a pleasure dealing with everyone - the estimators, the office staff, the workers, and the supervisors. I can recommend them highly.

We needed our two brick fireplaces to be redesigned, so we called Boston Brick & Stone, and they sent over a "designer". My husband had already drawn up a design and showed it to her (big mistake!) so she can get a rough estimate of what we had in mind, but we asked her to come up with her own professional sketches. After 10 days and 3 phone calls from me on trying to find out about the status, we finally got two of her designs. One was exactly what my husband had designed himself! She took his design and just added one tiny little detail and the other looked like something that was thrown together the last minute. We were extremely disappointed. We had also asked her to find a few pictures of the modern style that we liked and she said she couldn't find any. She sent over one picture that was totally irrelevant of what we liked or needed. We let her know, and we never heard back from the designer OR the company as far as what happened and what they can do to fix the situation. They were a big waste of our time.

While the rep was friendly, listened to all our concerns, offered suggestions for alternatives, we never received the promised proposal. I called and spoke to him once and he said he was working on our proposal and that he had been a little backed up. After this conversation, we still never received anything. I'm guessing our job was on the smaller side for them, but I wish they would've just been upfront with us instead of wasting our time.
