We phoned O'Connor about our nonfunctioning fluorescent fixture, suspecting it was the ballast, since all 4 bulbs weren't working. The repairman, Julian, came the next day, replaced the ballast and Informed us that we'd been using incorrect size bulbs, and this had probably caused the malfunction. The work was done professionally and skillfully. We will probably not call them again because we can't afford their hourly rate, but we would recommend them to anyone who wants expert work done and can afford it.

O'Connor and Sons came recommended to us by someone who inspects a lot of homes. This guy sees all sorts of crazy dangerous electrical mistakes and said Tom's work is always top notch. We bought a 1959 Eichler with the original electrical panel and some scary switch behavior (humming, dimming, blown circuits). Tom and his lead electrician Julian replaced our Zinsco panel with a new one, checked all the circuits, and properly grounded everything they could access. They also diagnosed and repaired a few potentially dangerous situations created by prior owners, upgraded the electrical boxes, wiring, and really brought our house into the 21st century. Julian works quickly and quietly and gets the job done. Tom is open and honest and does not oversell you on more than you need (like a 200 amp panel when 100 or 125 will fit all your needs). Their knowledge is extensive. O'Connor and Sons have decades of experience on all types of homes and buildings and situations. Old mansions, McMansions, ranches, Eichlers, office space, and more. Small repairs, new construction, remodels, etc. Tom is also well versed in other aspects of building and home repair/remodels in general. I trust his advice. He has saved us a ton of money and time by connecting us with solid, honest tradespeople. Both Tom and Julian live and are raising families in Palo Alto. They are established and community-minded people. I like knowing they will be around years from now. I heartily recommend them for all your electrical needs.

After trying to install a replacement dishwasher (old) with a newer model we found that the electrical was also outdated. In order to get the new dishwasher installed a.s.a.p we looked on Angie's List for a local electrician that would come out immediately. We called 3 different phone numbers and got recordings on 2. O'Conner and Sons answered the phone and was at our house within the hour. He was efficient and thorough as well as personable. Explaining everything he was doing as he did them. We have other work to be done so we will definitely be calling him .

Julian searched out a short which was intermittent and hard to find. He had to move furniture, search through many outlets and switches to find it. He was thorough, professional, persistent, and successful. Tom O'Connor has a sense of humor which I appreciated and I will use them again if I need an electrician.

The appointment went very smoothly - Julian was there on time, very polite, very knowledgeable. He explained what he was doing and why he was doing the work, and also made cost-effective recommendations. I felt very pleased with the level of service, responsiveness, and price.

Quick response by this electrician--same day as my call; so far as I can tell the problem has been fixed.

Tom O'Connor had come to our house twice previously to help us with electrical problems and he did not charge for his services. The charge of $100 was very reasonable for his prompt service on all the occasions. I would not hesitate to call him again.

My experience with them was okay and I felt his prices were quite high. They are a very small company and use an answering machine. I wouldn't recommend them for any emergency work but they could be used for any work planned in advance.

They showed up as promised and wanted to charge 4 times as much as anyone else.

The automatic garage door would not open. The circuit was not tripped and the electrical would not work even after testing the breaker. I needed to have this fixed in a hurry so that I could get the car out of the garage to go to work. I looked in the phone book at the quick service ads and checked them out on Angie's List and the licenses at the State Contractor Board. In this way I found out that quite a few quick electrical folks who say they are local are not local but far away. So I found Tom O'Connor in the phone book. He lived in Palo Alto and his license was active. He came over within the hour and showed me a hidden reset switch which fixed the problem. He did not charge me for this. He was very friendly and I will certainly call him first next time.
