It went very well, about a team of 6 people over the course of the day came and did their work, One guy dropped off the compressor, two guys dropped off the AC/Heat exchange, and another 2 guys worked doing the plumbing and electrical work needed to be done. Over all we have had the system in 6 years an no major problems, a fan motor went out but was covered under warranty. We have used them for service ever since and happy with the guys that come out and the work that is done.
Description of Work: Installed new Compressor and Heat/AC

We used Desert Air for 10 years since we purchased our home. They were a great family-owned and operated outfit with customer service and technicians that really cared and did a great job. Around 2009 our service started going down hill. Three years in a row the fan motor "burned out" and had to be replaced. The next year in 2012 when the same issue happened again I called a different company. They showed me that the connections were just dirty from the sand storm we had and the winds we'd been experiencing. He showed me how to clean it (it's a large, awkwardly installed unit) and surprise - the fan worked just fine. We have cleaned it following his directions every year since and have had no more problems with the unit. Desert Air took us for $400-550 each year for 3 years in a row for something that most likely (according to the other technician) didn't need to be replaced.
Description of Work: Replaced the fan motor for our air-conditioning unit. Cleaned the unit as well.

The repair person cleaned a few of the components, checked all the lines and added freon. The following day the unit would not run. As soon as the compressor started it would shut itself off. The next company I called released some of the freon and the unit has worked fine ever since.
Description of Work: Checked the air conditioner.

.First contacted Desert Air Conditioning March 21, 2012 to address loud noises coming from air system. Repairman told us the capacitor needed to be replaced and did that. We were charged $156. Subsequently, the noise continued. During a second visit on April 26, 2012, we were told the motor and wheel for the furnace needed to be replaced. We were charged another $80 for that visit after the first repairman failed to properly diagnose the problem Another repairman came out with a new motor April 28, 2012. He took the old motor out, and while there was no motor in the furnace the noise continued, and he said it couldn't possibly be the motor causing the noise. He went to the roof and checked the motor for the fresh air intact system and discovered that was the problem. He said it was unnecessary to have it operating and said to simply disconnect it rather than replace it. We were charged $248. The net was three visits, two misdiagnosis, and substantial costs to pay for their blunders. We had purchased a summer and winter service package. December 20, 2012 a serviceman came out and checked everything and said everything was working fine. We had no heat during the coldest week of the year. December 26, 2012 another service man came out and said the booster exhaust motor had to be replaced, as well as a pressure (something.) (His writing on the receipt is illegible.) He also initially told us the system would not work without the fresh air intact motor. When he wrote up the estimate for repairs, he did not include what he said about the fresh air intact motor. December 28, 2012 the booster exhause motor and the pressure (something) were replaced. That cost was $280.08 more. Total costs have been $764.08 with so many blunders I've lost count. No, I will not use Desert Air Conditioning again, nor will I recommend them to anyone else.

I was a loyal customer of Desert Air Conditioning, Inc. for six years. For my past three appointments, the company never arrived within the FIVE hour appointment window. The company also used incorrect parts. For example, the company duct taped the wrong size filter to the air return. When I brought these issues to the OWNER?s attention he stated that he was a union shop and had to pay his employees overtime after 4:30 pm and I was lucky that he was not charging me an additional service charge because his employees were arriving after 5pm. Even though the company could not meet the five hour appointment window, apparently I was the lucky one not to be charged an additional fee, I guess for ?failure to keep their appointment.? When I decided to cancel my service contract due to the obscene lack of insight into customer service etiquette, the owner refused to look into crediting my account for the appointment he never kept. Generally a company that would like to maintain loyal customers will take responsibility for their mistakes, or offer to compensate the customer for the inconvenience in some way or even simply offer to reschedule the appointment at another mutually convenient time. The owner, (Jeff Shaw) chose none of these options. A refund was received after filing complaints with the BBB and my credit card company.
Description of Work: The company provided my Heating and A/C repair, service and maintenance since 2004.
