A year later on April 10th, 2014 it had started to leak. We called Sears, and they told us that they had no record of us. We called Whirlpool and they also had no record of us. My husband purchased a service agreement from Sears, and the technician that came out told us that our refrigerator was not under warranty and nothing was covered. We ended up buying a new refrigerator and having the old one taken away.
Today April 30th, we received a letter from Whirlpool asking if we wanted to extend our service agreement! The Sears here in Winchester said that their records showed that we purchased our refrigerator in 2010, because the computers had a glitch and added arbitrary dates. The model wasn't even made until 2011! We had paid Sears for the warranty and didn't even know that we had a manufacturer's warranty.
