We just completed a pool rennovation with Melos and they did an outstanding job. Our pool in Rancho Mirage was damaged in the flooding following the hurricane last year, resulting in stained plaster. We decided to re-surface the pool and re-tile as well. Because of the age of the pool there were a few other things that needed to be addressed, but they were great working with us through all of the issues that came up. They were great to work with from the first point we reached out -- prompt and professional responses always. Everyone we interacted with from the company and crew were terrific. They were professional and cared about the quality of their work. We are very happy with the final result and can highly recommend them.

My husband and I recently decided to remodel our pool which was 10 years old and looked tired. Before moving forward, we obtained 3 bids for the job including Melo's Pools and two other pool companies. Alberto Melo came out as scheduled to discuss our plans, take measurements and suggest a timeline for our project. Alberto’s price quote came in between the other two, but we felt he would work well with us in creating our dream pool, and trusted that he’d be dependable with his timelines and quality. One month before the proposed start date, we were contacted and given confirmation of a firm date in January when work would begin. A day prior to demolition, Gabriel from Alberto’s team arrived to drain the pool and the next morning, another crew arrived promptly at 7:00 a.m. to demolish and remove the old plaster finish and ceramic tiles. That same week Alberto’s tile crew arrived to install our new glass pool tiles and worked with us to create exactly the right accents with application of glass tiles on the steps and seat of the spa and the steps into the pool. After the tile work had been completed, another crew arrived as scheduled to pour and apply the new Pebbletec finish. Once the finish was applied, the pool was refilled and Alberto’s pool maintenance man Carlos took over care of our pool for the next 6 weeks to properly care for and clean the renovated pool/spa and adjust the new saline chlorinator. Our project also included installation of a new filter and heater for our pool, and adjusting placement of the new equipment to maximize the space in our pool room. Gabriel from Melo's team installed all of our new equipment and worked closely with us to make sure we were happy with the new layout and he explained to us in great detail the proper use and maintenance for the equipment. Throughout our pool renovation process Alberto and his team were in regular contact to ensure a smooth and informed demolition and renovation process. We had a few unexpected issues, as can often occur in projects of this kind. In each instance, Alberto’s team responded right away to assess the issues and suggest solutions which they implemented. Throughout the entire process the Melo’s team were extremely professional, courteous and possessed a superior customer focus that surpassed our expectations. Our new pool was turned over to us in great working order, and is absolutely beautiful . We are thrilled with our pool and had an excellent experience working with Melo’s Pools. My family could not be more disappointed with the quality and service provided by Melo Pools. We paid over 100k for a top end infinity pool, and have had non-stop issues with the tile job done by Melo. Within 6 months of completion, the tiles started falling off all over the place. This is a 2nd home, and every time that we came to vacation we arrived to find a lot of tiles missing. We'd contact Melo, they would make various excuses to try and avoid having to deal with it, and then say they'll come repair it. Each time we'd return to the home, there were more tiles missing and this process repeated for several years. After a number of years dealing with this, and a serious cut on someone's foot from the poor workmanship, we requested that they redo the job. We had gotten opinions from several other contractors/pool professionals, who all noted that the tile job was not done properly, and that these issues would continue. Melo continued to try and evade the issue, and it was a painful process to get them to even respond. We eventually got to the point where we insisted on a complete redo so that we weren't dealing with this every visit, and only after making clear we'd be filing a complaint with the California State Licence Board if they did't agree to repair. However, after agreeing to do this, we tried to schedule a time for approximately 2 years while Melo made constant excuse about how busy they were and they'd get back to us later with a time. This went on for months and not once did they reach out to us. On our last visit, the excuses continued, and we advised we had no choice but to make a claim on their contractors bond, as these things have to be done within certain time limits. We recently sold the property, and had assured the new buyer that Melo would schedule the repair with them, and when attempting to do this Melo's new excuse was that since we notified the bond company of the issue, they were going to punish us by refusing to do anything about it. It became very clear that they had all along intended to delay, delay, delay and then find a very dishonest excuse fully lacking in integrity to get out of fixing their shoddy workmanship. After several years of never being able to fully enjoy our pool, multiple cuts/injuries to guests and children that Melo was made aware of but took no action on, we are now left with having to file complaints with the CSLB and on their contractors bond to investigate the substandard work. It may very well be that they intentionally delayed this, and took advantage of our good faith, to the point were these time limits have run out. I see this company has many good reviews, so perhaps the problem is that the Owner's son is now in charge and would rather spend his time seeking out new business, instead of taking care of previous clients that spent 100k+ with them. I would avoid this company at all costs.

I recently had my pool & spa completely restored: old stained plaster & chipped tiles were removed, new pebble and tile was installed. Extra piping, electrical and concrete work was needed to fix errors from many years gone by. Melo's team did a wonderful job. They came in with a no-nonsense attitude and made a huge project seem simple. My pool and surrounds look beautiful and all done without a fuss. I would recommend.

From the beginning with Albert, everything was very professional yet personable. They walked me through the entire process, so I could understand just what would be done, when it would be done. I always had Mauricio to contact with any questions, thoughts or concerns. He always phoned me back promptly and whatever it was, he took care of it. I just finished getting the final sign off from the City of Rancho Mirage on my redesigned pool. The contractor that I used for this project was Melo Pools and Outdoors. I had bid the remodel of my existing pool out to 4 or 5 different contractors. In the end, three submitted bids. I chose Melo Pools and Outdoors, not because they were the lowest bid on the contract. But rather, from the very first meeting, Alberto Melo brought new ideas to the process. He had suggestions on the new design that others did not vocalize. And that, at the end of the day was the reason that I chose Melo Pools and Outdoors. That being said, I am writing this review today because after making my decision and writing the first check, Melo Pools and Outdoors exceeded my expectations. At the start of the construction, I was traveling in Scotland, about 9 time zones and 5,100 miles away from Rancho Mirage. But Alberto kept me apprised of the status of the permits and construction with periodic emails and photos when appropriate. At each stage of the process, Alberto let me know if there were any issues (and there weren’t any), as well as any delays in the time line. When I returned from Scotland, the process which had started, continued. Alberto let me know when there would be inspections and the outcomes of the inspections. He kept his word about when his guys were going to work. At one point, the project was running a little behind what Alberto had committed to and he had his people working overtime to get back on track. When I was out in Rancho Mirage, Alberto would make a point of meeting with me to give me the latest on the status of the project. All in all, it was a very stress free project. I would highly recommend Melo Pools and Outdoors for any project. I would also recommend that anyone considering have a pool constructed or remodeled to ask Melo Pools to bid on that project. They are very customer focused and easy to work with.

Our pool is complete and it is a work of art. From onset, Albert, Moises and their team have been amazing to work with throughout this entire process. They truly are here to make a new pool owner feel 100% comfortable and are commendable with their customer service. Allow us to walk you through our process that may help you decide to “take the plunge” with Melos. On Day 1 we made an online inquiry on Yelp. Melos responded back immediately to assess our questions and be included in our bidding process. Albert Jr. came out within the week, measured, designed, and created a comp that blew us away both in beauty and within budget. Their service within 2 weeks of initial outreach exceeded expectations. When investing in a backyard of this magnitude, a person wants to feel comfortable and this family owned business does that incredibly. The process was timelined. Albert’s team kept us in the loop every step of the way. They work with a lot of moving people and parts, but will always communicate with you. Although we had a few areas to address along the way, some of the tile needed to tweaked and cement is always tricky, guess what, no questions asked, they arrived to make it perfect. And it was. From explaining the pump, the app, the maintenance, we are confident we made the best choice for our pool contractors. Should we ever move, and look to build another pool, we’d use Melo’s again...and again. Melos Pools did an outstanding job in every way in remodeling our yard. They removed all our concrete, remodeled our pool with a beautiful mini-pebble tech finish, poured our new deck,installed a great looking water feature, built a beautiful outdoor shower and made accommodations for our new fire pit. The project came in on budget and within the time frame promised. The workers were conscientious, hard working, clean and always courteous. It was a pleasure working with Albert on the design and dealing with Lorena on the financial end. Everything was done in a quality way and the company was responsive to questions and concerns. I would recommend them highly.

It went very well as the work was done efficiently, artistically & in a timely manner. Their motto is: " You dream it...We build it." They did a great job of that for us!

We worked primarily with Albert Jr., though we also worked with Albert Sr. on several occasions. Both were extremely pleasant to work with and very professional. The fact that this is a family-owned business shows through in many ways. The service is very personal and responsive, and we had a single point of contact (Albert Jr.) throughout the entire project. Beginning with the design process, Albert Jr. was very helpful in steering us to features and materials that helped keep us fairly close to our budget (though we realized early on that we had significantly underestimated what such a project would cost and adjusted our budget accordingly). In particular, he helped us avoid materials that would have totally blown our budget. His design sense was very helpful in assisting me and my partner to reach agreement on several design aspects on which we initially disagreed. He also made it a point to be on-site every day on which significant activity was occurring. Albert Jr. handled all of the permit issues, which were a bit more unknown as our home is located on tribal land. After determining that the tribe and not the city had jurisdiction, he walked the paperwork through the tribal building department and was always on-site for the periodic inspections. In addition to constructing our spa, Melos also installed a paver patio and an extensive underground drainage system in our courtyard to keep us in compliance with the requirement to divert all drainage from our lot to a particular direction. Both of these aspects of the project were designed and constructed in a very satisfactory manner. In addition, the crew applied appropriately colored paint to the various pipes and electrical conduits that were visible around the pool equipment. Our questions were always answered in a reasonable, understandable manner, and the few small change orders we had during the project were handled without any hassles. Once we were in the startup mode, both Albert's were very responsive to the minor questions and issues that typically arise in a complex project like this. Also, there were some minor issues that showed up after a couple of weeks of use (corroding screws and some minor grout repairs), and they were promptly taken care of. Finally, because the salinity was too high, they came back about a month after start up to drain some of the water and replace it with fresh to lower the salinity. In initially getting estimates from Melos and two other companies, Melos stood out for the quality of their initial contact with us and lived up to our expectations in every way. We would highly recommend Melos Pools for similar projects.

This was the third pool we have had built and by far the best experience we have had. We had four quotes for this project. Melo pools not only gave us the lowest quote but Albert Jr's design was the most beautiful and designed with our family's use of the pool in mind. This is a family business. Albert Sr., who has been building pools in the desert for over 25 years has his two sons, Albert Jr and Patrick working closely with him to provide amazingly personal service. One or, at times, all three Melo men were on site daily to make sure we were pleased every step of the way. The crew couldn't have been harder working or more considerate. Everyday they completely cleaned, swept every areas that needed it. In my experience, an honest, hard working, kind leader inspires everyone working under him to do their very best. This is the kind of leadership I saw in Albert Sr and his sons. Everyone on their crews respected not only the home owner, but their employers. As a result the every little hiccup or concern in the project was easily addressed. We couldn't be more thrilled with the end results. I highly recommend this company.

Under the contract, I was guaranteed the right to require the contractor to provide a "Performance and Payment" Bond. I called the contractor on 5/26/15, and inquired about this. Alberto Mrlo Senior's son, told me he was unfamiliar with this provision and would have to do some research. Mr Melo Sr stopped by my resident that after noon and denied the necessity of having such a bond (although the cost was minimal ($66.00). I was informed that "if we don't complete the work, you simply don't pay us". Thus the contractor was in breach of contract before the work ever began. On May 27, 2015, at 12:30, a workman from Melo's pools arrived to drain my pool, however he was unprepared to do so, except to drain directly into the city sewer system. He said that they did this all the time, and caused less annoyance to the neighbors. He also lied and said that this did not require a City of Palm Springs permit. I then told the workman he would have to go to City Hall and get a drainage permit. (The drainage permit only costs $5.00 and City Hall is only 2 minutes from my house. The workman then told me this his drainage hose was "too short" and he would have to get another. He said he would be back in about 10 minutes. My Housekeeper witnessed all of this. During the time I waited inside for the workman to return, he snuck back into my back yard and retrieved his pool pump (which was already at the bottom of the pool), and his hoses and disappeared. I had not seen the workman return to my back yard, nor had he rung my front doorbell to tell me he was on premises. I next received a call from Alberto Melo, Sr, at 3:15 that same afternoon. He said they would be unable to honor the contract, because I had been "screaming" at the workman, who was his son. I was quite taken aback and disappointed. This is also a complete fabrication. My housekeeper witnessed my interaction with the workman. I have a signed sworn statement from her indicating this is untrue. I informed Mr. Melo, Sr., that a contract was a legal document and it could not be cancelled by a simple phone call. I requested documentation. I next consulted my attorney. She advised me to send the company a copy of the contract marked "cancelled" with a space for the owners to sign and date the document. I next received a letter from the company where they claimed that I had agreed to terminate their contract during out conversation on 5/27/15. This is another complete fabrication by this company. Additionally they once again claimed I had been "indignant" towards their workman. They further fabricated out conversation--stating that I said I "have too many things in (my) head". I would never say something like this. This firm is complete dishonest, however, since no money had changed hands my attorney told me to forget the matter. I subsequently called the City of Palm Springs, Building Department, which issues pool drainage permits. They informed me that Melo's Pools, nor Mr. Alberto Melo, Sr., had NEVER APPLIED FOR A POOL DRAINAGE PERMIT. This was as of 5/28/15. While the cost for the permit is only $5.00, the penalty for draining a pool without a permit is $500.00.

It went exceptionally well. This is a family operated professional and well run business. Everything was done as agreed to and to my complete satisfaction. The workers showed up daily, performed their tasks and left my place clean and in good condition. I now have a beautiful pool with revitalized coping and kool deck area. I would definitely use them again.

Melo Pools did a great job. They were professional, punctual and great to work with. They showed up when they said they would and were very responsive to all my questions throughout the entire process. The pool came out great. I would definitely recommend Melo Pools.

We tried to be very diligent when selecting a pool contractor to build our pool in our new home. After interviewing five contractors, we selected Melo's Pools & Spas. Price wise they were about in the middle, however the level of professionalism was superior to all of the others. Their presentation from the initial meeting through the 3D computer presentation was excellent! We spoke with a few of their customers, who all spoke very highly of them. After selection, they laid out the process and then adhered to the plan that we both agreed on. Their employees were always courteous and arrived in a timely manner. The entire Melo's family was involve from start to finish and that made our experience a good one. I would highly recommend Melo's Pools & Spas for any of your pool or spa needs.

We had our pool re tiled and new pebble. Alberto and his crew were professional and had an excellent work ethic. The job was completed in a timely manner. We were delighted with the results. Alberto and his sons could not be more pleasant. Mrs. Melo is delightful as well. They return calls within a few hours. They have a great attitude and are anxious to please the customer. I have already recommended Melos Pools to a friend/client. She is also very pleased with her pool. As a Real Estate Broker, I will be recommending Melos to all of my clients.

We were looking to add a spa to our existing "classic-look" Pam Springs pool. We interviewed several companies, but Melo's was the one that suggested the best location and look for what we wanted. The price was less than the other quotes. We felt that the work, once started, was continuously on-going, interrupted only by the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We never felt that multiple days went by without any idea of what was going to happen. While we actively monitored the work and the progress, they were extremely professional and courteous about responding to our requests, questions, and changes. We were very happy with the final product. The owners made themselves very available when we had questions.

They kind of left me unsatisfied.? They said they were going to come back and give a second coat to the patio and once I paid them, I never heard them from again.? Where they put the caulking between the pool and water, they left that out and I had to go in and do that myself.? The work they did, they did fine.? They were punctual and professional, but they just didn?t seem two do the tedious work.? When they painted the patio, it was kind of thin and I mentioned it and they said they would come back and give it a second coat, but have never heard from them after I paid them.

It is a family owned business that wants to do a Great Job for their customers. They all work together to get the job done right, they are men and women of their word, Very Nice, Nice people to work with!

We had a faux concrete pool deck that was improperly bonded to the underlying concrete. Melos removed the old surface and put down stone. The job was very labor intensive and took two weeks while we were away from the desert. They also constructed two large water feature attached to the pool and a new high efficiency pool pump. We communicated by email with photos of the progression of the project. The whole thing was done very well with no problems. We have referred them to other homeowners.

It is a father and son thing and the experience I have had with them this far has been very positive. They are very knowledgeable and the turn around time was quick. They just submitted my plans to the city for approval. They are really nice people.

I just had my pool refinished with new tile and pebble. It was a huge job but the work got done beautifully. All work was done on time, and they were very professional. I am extremely pleased with the finished product and highly recommend their services.
