J&L GARAGE DOOR

I never write reviews, but I had to take the time to warn everyone else about this companies' poor work. IT was suppose to be a simple new door installation. But it turned to a list of more damages and issues. 1. He broke the motor to the garage door, and made ME pay for it. (premium price, too) 2. He installed the garage door poorly. (the panels did not line up ) 3. He did not even de-install the old sensors. (He took the left side sensor off, but did not deinstall the right side sensor off) 4. He also made damage to the walls I hired Peter to install a new garage door, because my house was freshly painted a different color and wanted my garage door to match the house. So my old garage door was functioning fine; I needed a new door for it match aesthetically, if you can say. But the day he came to install, he broke my motor. He then came to blame me that it was old. My motor was working completely fine before he came to deinstall it. He then charged me full price for the new motor and did not even give a discounted price for the labor. I only agreed with it because he put me in a stuck position, and I was caring for a new baby, so I did have time to argue with him, and I think he took TOTAL advantage of that. After he left, I realized that the panels of the garage door were not even, and the doors did not shut flatly. There was a bent in between the panels because it was incorrectly installed. He also left many oily handprints all over the new door. So I had to call him and have come back and fix the panels. And now my husband realize that when he installed the new sensors, he did not EVEN deinstall the old sensor. He just smashed the old sensors down and bent them down to make space and during the process and then also hammered into the side of my garage door walls. I just recently got them freshly painted and dry walled last year. When I told him about the damage, he then lied saying that the hole already existed. I know he was lying because the space was freshly painted before he came and we did not have a HOLE THERE. Now, I have to hire another handyman to fix the damage and deinstall the old sensors PROPERLY. Not only did he overcharge me for a motor that he broke, he did a terrible job with the installation. AND DID NOT EVEN DEINSTALL CORRECTLY. I wish I never hired him and I hope to warn you as well.

I had used J&L years ago so I called them again to find out how much it would cost to replace a broken spring on my garage door. Peter asked me questions to determine the type of door I had and then he gave me a price. He scheduled to do the job within a couple of days. When Peter arrived to repair a broken spring he saw that there was only one spring, but he said there should be two because I have an insulated garage door that is heavier. He replaced it with two springs to ensure that the job was done right and he didn't charge extra. He also fixed the light on the garage door opener for a small extra fee. I was impressed that he ensured that I had the proper equipment regardless of the original price quote. He also made adjustments to the automatic door opener so that the door glided smoothly and closed quietly. J&L offers very competent repair service at competitive prices. I highly recommend them. THIS COMPANY WAS EXTREMELY DILIGENT IN GETTING THE JOB DONE. WE HAD OUR OLD GARAGE DOOR TAKEN DOWN AND REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE IN LESS THAN A DAY. THE SERVICE WAS INDISPUTABLY PLEASANT AND WE ARE VERY SATISFIED WITH OUR NEW GARAGE DOOR.
