They were friendly. They did a good job. I called them for some other plumbing-related issues but that was something they were not able to accommodate. I was not around when they did the service and my wife was the one who dealt with them. Overall, I was very happy.
Description of Work: I had a shower fixture replaced by Daystar Plumbing.

Description of Work: Knowledgeable, professional, and conscientious; after diagnosis and discussion, he ended up referring us to a larger plumbing service for more extensive work. (Our house is almost 100 yrs old and the issue ran out to the connection with city plumbing.) During the diagnosis/assessment, Timothy at DayStar answered my bizillion questions with patience and details so that I could really understand what was going on with the system and variables - and what to watch/plan going forward (incredibly helpful). Would feel totally confident to call him back (and refer him) for projects in the future; we were in good hands both with him directly and as he connected us with his professional network (service date might not be accurate but close).

Timothy Cowan of Daystar Plumbing is what we all hope for, but don?t often get, when we need a tradesperson. If he can?t answer when you call, he calls back right away. He listens to your description of the problem so that he has an idea of what needs to be done and/or parts necessary so you are not charged for an appointment just to see what is needed. He does his best to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. After looking things over, Timothy always explains what the problem is and, when there are alternative fixes, tells you the advantages and disadvantages of each. Over the 8 years I have called on Timothy he has done minor and major repairs on my toilets and fixed sink leaks that had previously been un-fixable, among other repairs. When my kitchen faucet hose sprung a leak I expected to have to replace that expensive part. Timothy was the one who told me that it was covered by a warranty and took care of returning the hose to the manufacturer himself, even though I did not originally buy the faucet from him and he didn?t install it. He shows up when he says he will, knows what he is doing, his prices are always fair ? he even cleans up after himself! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend him.
Description of Work: Timothy Cowan of Daystar Plumbing has been my go-to guy for over 8 years. He most recently came out to fix a toilet that sounded like a rocket ship during liftoff when it refilled (and then kept running) and a bathroom sink stopper that wouldn’t raise or lower. Timothy gave me the choice to replace just some of the toilet parts but, since it was about 25 years old I opted to do a full replacement. But for the sink stopper, rather than replacing the complete unit, Timothy got just the necessary individual parts which saved me a lot of money.

Our bathroom faucet had been slowly losing flow over about a month. It finally was down to only a trickle. Fearing a leak somewhere, I called a plumber. I had never used Timothy and Daystar Plumbing before, but found him online in a YELP review. the review was mixed, but positive enough that I gave him a call. He answered promptly (he carries a cell phone and always answers when it rings). I explained the problem and he said he was nearby and could come right away. He also carefully explained pricing and how his fees are determined. He was very up front about his fees. He was at the door about 15 minutes later. He was very familiar with the type of faucet we have and diagnosed the problem and gave me options for repair, ranging from inexpensive to more expensive but more thorough repair. I liked that he explained in detail how the faucet works and what the problem was and all the different ways of approaching it. He had the parts he needed in his van and the repair only took about an hour or so, from the time he walked in the door until he was done. His bill was fair and detailed. Best plumber experience I've ever had. I now have a plumber I can trust and who does excellent work. His yellow pages ad says: "Insightful - Mature - Courteous". I think that sums it up nicely.

Mr. Cowan gave himself a tour of my house, telling me I was ''ill served'' by previous plumbers. I told him that I pulled a metal shard out of the disposal, he looked inside and pulled out another piece of metal, hit the switch and it worked! I apologized for wasting his time. He said, ''Don't worry I'm going to charge you for it''. I laughed. As to the water heater, he said ''I'd never touch it but you can get a little flow pump and do it yourself''. I thanked him and tried to lead him out. He refused to go until he wrote his report. He sat, answering his cell and eating berries that were on the kitchen table. His ''report'' was a bill for $190.00. He demanded a check and argued that I was lucky that he ''fixed'' my disposal because a new one was more $$$. My daughter came home and the two of us were able to usher him out.
Description of Work: Used pliers to pull metal shard from garbage disposal under sink. I wanted an estimate to service my Rinnai Tankless Water Heater, which works fine but needs to be flushed and de-limed yearly. Also, my garbage disposal stopped working.

I WAS TOLD SHE "NEEDED A NEW DISPOSAL" & SHE BELIEVED THAT HER YR OLD TANKLESS WATER HEATER, SHOULD BE DESCALED. TRIED THE RESET BUTTON ON THE DISPOSER, IT ONLY HUMMED. SHE BELIEVED THAT IT WAS COMING APART. SHE DENIED THAT ANYTHING HAD GOTTEN INTO IT. BY FLASHLIGHT I COULD SEE A PIECE OF METAL, AND WITH EFFORT, WAS ABLE TO REMOVE IT, NOW IT WORKED FINE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME, THAT, ASKED TO INSTALL A NEW DISPOSER, AND INSTEAD, BEING ABLE TO UNJAM IT, THAT I HAVE BEEN MET WITH SUCH INGRATITUDE AND VENOM! I DID FAIL TO TELL HER IN ADVANCE THAT I CHARGE FOR MY VISIT, AND APOLOGIZED FOR THAT. THE KEY PHRASE IN HER "REPORT" IS HER STRATEGIC APOLOGY FOR WASTING MY TIME. I CONTINUED ON TO LOOK AT HER WATER HEATER, INSTALLED BY SOMEONE WHO, "HAD GONE BACK TO HIS OWN COUNTRY". I SAID THAT I WOULDN'T WORK ON IT BECAUSE THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WERE NOT FOLLOWED AND IT WAS, IN MY OPINION, NOT SAFE: INSTALLED ON A RAILING JUST OUTSIDE AN UPPER FLOOR SIDE DOOR SO FLUE GASES COULD ENTER THE HOUSE THROUGH THE DOOR OR WINDOW, NO PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE TO PROTECT AGAINST ACCIDENTAL FAILURE, NO ELECTRICAL SWITCH AT THE HEATER, ETC.! SHE WAS ACTUALLY DISMISSIVE OF MY TELLING HER THESE THINGS AND SEEMED IRRITATED. I ASKED FOR 125 FOR THE DISPOSER VISIT, AND 65 FOR TIME ON THE WH. SHE INSISTED ON SERVING THE BERRIES,(STRATEGY?) AND WAS FURIOUS THAT I BILLED HER. SHE STOPPED PAYMENT ON AN AGREED $75. CK.
