Although every experience I have had with this company has been exemplary, and I have had many over the years, today I want to leave a review for our service tech, Noah (who really deserved one from the last time he came). Of course he was on time, respectful and knowledgeable, but more than that Noah was invested in doing a good job and solving problems. He investigated every possibility in order to pinpoint the issues, and then went above and beyond on making repairs and completing a very through maintenance on our ancient unit. I mean, seriously, its 35 years old and this tech, this company had kept it running and working well. As an employee, Pacific Aire is really lucky to have him. As a customer, so was I. Thank you so much! Lifetime loyal customer here!

We've had Pacific Aire clean and service our furnace and air conditioner for several years now. For $11 a month, we get two complete cleaning, and checking of the units including a furnace filter change each year. Replacement parts are discounted . Also we get the fastest service in an emergency. We get to choose the date the service is performed, and the technicians have all been punctual, and very professional.

For the price, it's a monthly thing, they're on call monthly. $11 a month I think. They're competitive on price. So far no problems with the quality. Their professionalism is ok. I would use them again because we have a contract with them and they probably should be coming out in a couple of months to do the winter work. The reason I give them a B rating is because they don't proactively call up and say we'll be coming out in April or May to do the air conditioning. Last year they didn't try to schedule an appointment until July and the air conditioning had been on for 2 months by then. They should set something up. They're supposed to you know, I mean we're paying them so much a month to do the work in the spring and the fall so they should do it in the spring and the fall. They should call me, I shouldn't have to call them.

We have a contract with them. They are super responsive. They do some unnecessary repairs or recommend some unnecessary repairs. We needed an UV bulb to get rid of mold and stuff and they wanted to charge like $400 and the bulb at another place was $49. That's a little over charging.

I have a contract with them. There was no charge. They came out. He spent about an hour; maybe an hour and half. There was no charge. On quality, how do I know? I gotta give them an A because I don't know. It works. You can't give a +, but I'd give them an A+ on responsiveness. They always call up at least a week in advance to set up an appointment. Then they call up 2 days in advance to confirm that it's still okay with us. Then they call up about an hour before they get here and then they show up on time. On punctuality, if you wanted to set a clock by when the guy pushes the doorbell that's a good thing to do because he's right on time. On professionalism that's a hard thing to say. A whore is professional. That's a hard one to grade. He comes in. He seems to know what he's doing. He explains what he's gonna to do before he does it. He does it. He explains if he found a problem and then he fixes it. Or, he doesn't fix it and tells when he'd have to come back to get it fixed. They're very transparent. You can see right through what they're doing. I've told my neighbors about them. They're pretty good. Like I said, I have a contract with them.

I called with an emergency and Pacific Aire was at my door 30 minutes later with a quick simple fix. He optimized the drainage, cleaned out the lines and gave the whole unit a check up. The cost was so affordable and the entire experience was fantastic. As AC is so crucial in the Valley, we will have Pacific Aire back out every spring for a check up.

Called Pacific Aire. They sent Mike. He was very neat, courteous, professional. And knowledgeable. And took his time to explain what was happening. And did not mind answering my questions. I am a Widow and sometimes its hard to understand everything. And I am always a little Leary that I am taken advantage of. It turned out needed new Air conditioner. And the heater had a crack so gas built up when turned on that's why the boom . All is perfect now. And they follow up.
Description of Work: First the Air Conditioner just stopped working would not turn on. at all during the hottest time. This was summer 2016. Then in Nov 2016 the Heater would come on and heat the house but made a huge boom when it did. Scared me sounded like and explosion.

Is a company that I have dealt with forever. I have been using them over the last 10 ? 15 years. I bought a couple of heaters from them. I bought new ducting from them. I?ve had them clean the old ducts out. I don?t use anybody but them. They come out twice a year and check my heater. They have a maintenance club and I belong to the club. It?s a monthly thing and you have other options, there are other advantages to being a member of the club. As far as having people come out and work on the thing, getting special prices when you need it. It?s a whole big thing. I give them an ?A+? always! They?re pricing is good, they?re people are all good, they?re office people are good, there?s nothing wrong with them. They?re the best you could have!

Description of Work: Brice from Pacific Aire came to my house in order to give me an estimate for a new HVAC system. He was a friendly and knowledgeable guy but he took up an hour and a half of my time (2-3 times as long as anyone else I got an estimate from). He told me that he would have an estimate for me in a day or two. And then three weeks went by with nothing. I called the company and spoke to the sales manager. He told me that they must have had an incorrect e-mail address for me. I asked why no one bothered to pick up a phone and call me in that case. He said that he did not know. I told him that we would be going with a different company. Later on today, I received an e-mail from Brice (guess they must have figured out my e-mail) with a laundry list of excuses and the long-awaited quote. Too little, too late.

They asked me to join their "service club" for a monthly fee that would get me free checkups, discounts on parts and priority service. I signed up but the prices for their repair parts still seemed pretty high. After paying the fee for 8 months, I called to schedule a system check up. We set a scheduled date but they called the day before to tell me they couldn't make it because the service technician had the flu. I rescheduled for a month later for the earliest available date. They called me at 7:30 that morning to tell me that the service technician had the flu so they could not make the appointment. I cancelled my membership and went with another service. I believe that they are scamming folks with the "service club" fees. Do not join!

After installation, I complained many times of a fine mist being deposited on my furniture, but service techs could not locate the problem. Additionally, we called on numerous occasions forA/C not cooling, told coolant levels were low without finding a leak. Finally, another tech did locate the source of the problem and it was found to be coolant leaking from a failed coil that Pacific Aire had installed. Apparently, the diagnosis comes just as the warranty is expired. Thus, it cost $2900 to replace the coil. For the past 2 years we had notice that a stale odor had been emanating from the upstair middle registers. Multiple techs gave various reasons for the odor, including new UV bulb burn off or not appreciating the odor, but could not locate the source. When pushed by us, asked another tech to inspect their duct work and he assured us that "all ducts were sealed". The odor became intolerable. We called for another assessment. Another tech examined the duct work and he could not have been in the attic more than two minutes when he found that an old duct had been connected to the new duct work by Pacific Aire and simply fell apart when we had paid for all new duct work. Thus, the cause of the odor was that the Pacific Aire duct work was shunting stale attic air into our home. The duct work was no longer covered by warranty, again. Parenthetically, when we were sold the duct work system the paper work referred to it as "Lifetime Duct System". The tech informed us that a "comfort advisor" would contact us to let us know the cost of the correction. We have not heard from anyone from Pacific Aire since that date. It would be a reasonable conclusion that Pacific Aire does not care to deal with the problem and even cares less about customer retention.

I made an appointment the next business day. The repairman kept us apprised of when he would be arriving. Jose inspected the unit and kept yelling from under the house (where the furnace is located) for us to operate the control for the furnace. He was not sure what the problem could be ("it might be the control board or the pressure sensor"). He did say that the condensation pump had to be replaced but wasn't sure if that would fix the problem. He finally got the furnace working but couldn't be sure how long it would last. He said to have the pump replaced it would cost $597 and to have the control board replaced would be about $897. He told us that he wouldn't put anymore money into our furnace. When the furnace stopped working, we called another repair company who replaced the condensation pump which got the unit working for about $300. In the past, I have had this company replace furnaces twice at two different properties and they do an excellent job. The new installers are very professional and proficient. I have no reservations recommending them for NEW furnace installations, but, I hesitate to recommend them for repairs.

The technician explained the problem that the compressor and fan require a lot of power and if the current goes too high (above 18.4 amps on a TEMPSTAR ac unit - not sure of the capacity) that the fuse would blow. He cleaned the unit condenser coils and mentioned that if I kept them cool with water that would help reduce the strain on the compressor. The problem I have is that they charged me $74 dollars for two fuses, (which I later learned cost ~ $7 on Amazon -- 30 Amp 250 V time delay Class RK5). I would have expected that this small part cost could have easily been included in a $179 service call. He also tried to enroll me in their service contract plan, which costs as much or more than the service calls I have needed in the past. About an hour after he left the second fuse for the fan blew, and I felt fortunate that I had the spare to replace right away. I will look for a new AC system, but due to the 10X price they charged me on the fuses, I won't go back to Pacific Aire for it. A case of penny wise - pound foolish in my opinion... Overall I was VERY satisfied with the work and explanations to all my questions. I was disappointed that they gouged me on the price of the fuses.
Description of Work: We had a failure in our central air AC unit when it was over 100 deg outside. Due to high business volume we agreed to pay an extra $100 for Pacific Aire to send out a technician on a Sunday. The technician called to let me know when he came, was on time, was polite, friendly and explained everything very clearly. Our issue was a blown fuse and the technician explained it was likely due to our system being 16 years old. I asked him to replace the fuse (to the compressor) and leave one spare in case it blew again or in case fan Fuse failed.

Very disappointing. It took almost two months for this company to give response after the estimate. The most unbelievable is, that we were attempting to give them our business. I am in the process of remodeling my home. I called Pacific Aire to service the FAU in the attic, before I proceed. They came out and told me it was shot and needed a new one. Salesman came out and we agreed on a new system. I thought it was priced too high, but do not mind paying for quality. One year later, when I replaced my roof, realized that the vent boxes were the old ones, and so was the flu that protruded the roof. Also the city inspector said the flu was not to code, opening does not have enough clearance, fire hazard. When I called them on it, they said that was not in the original bid. No mention of either of those things were on the bid, I figured for that price I was getting a whole new system. They have nice trucks, and just moved into a new facility, so their high prices pay for those things, not service. Also, they called to schedule a checkup on the system ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE! Then cancelled. Just a bogus company....be careful

REBUTTAL: They were here twice before October. Once to evaluate why the upstairs was not being cooled on hot days. They said the system was working properly and that I'd need to add a comfort upgrade. Later, they would use these words against me as if were my idea to start with (after I had contractors in here telling me their idea was wrong. Pacific Aire says the existing system and duct work could work more ideally with an upgrade to shut off the downstairs ducts when the upstairs needed to be cooled utilizing a second thermostat, a controller and switchable registers. They touted this a the ultimate comfort upgrade saying I could be as comfortable as I wanted if willing to opt for the upgrade. At that point I said I wanted a second opinion. Based on their estimate, I was looking at an upgrade cost of $4K. As soon as I brought in the contractor that Edison (electric utility co.) recommended, the finger pointing began. He says their upgrade proposal would be noisier and cause more sweating of the coils, more cycling of the condenser and ultimately, shorten the life expectancy of the condenser. None of this would get the environment comfortable due to short cycling. A designed system would control the humidity, be comfortable and promote a healthier environment. The existing system was a total mismatch and could not do what they intended because it had no multi-speed fan blower (turning off ducts would put undue pressure and noise in the upstairs duct work because the fan couldn't regulate to the lesser load. In all fairness, the condenser also should be two-stage to run longer cycles to control humidity. The Carrier contractor found the reversed dryer filter at the condenser and said the Heater and A/C unit was leaking very badly. Also said that it was sealed with the wrong materials. The third contractor immediately spotted the 12" circumference marking on the main duct in attic and said anyone in the field of Heating and A/C know that these markings are easy to find and what the standard should be. My existing duct wasn't designed for A/C, has insufficient flow in most upstairs rooms and all should have been suspect to the installer. All other contractors agreed that the existing duct work should have been replaced. Some were concerned about inner wall leaks but all agreed that the duct should be replaced and pressure tested. Pacific Aire is a certified installer in the utility rebate program but after returning to my house after I informed them that their recommended upgrade is not ideal to solving my problem and that I needed a competitive bid from them. They stated that I was most likely offered something else rather than a rebate on the duct replacement. Reason stated was that the rebate approval required rigorous testing that made it not worth their efforts; risky. They had earlier came in here with the opinion that the first contractor was a sly character, senile and should retire. They faulted a lot of his recommendations about trying to install a new system in the attic to be more efficient. They left with the feeling that their ideas were better and I should call when I had an estimate. What actually happened next was series of unanswered phone calls and a claim that the company had deleted all voice mail. In those eight weeks, I had decided that I was no longer willing to entertain the notion of fixing existing system but to ask for a refund due to bad install, service calls and further advice that didn't fall into the mainstream of second opinions. All requests to speak the owner were not allowed until I informed them that I had enough of the stalling and excuses and that I had talked with Angie's List and was advised to rate them unfavorably to start an arbitration process. I was transferred to his number which went to voice mail stating to leave a message or email. No email address was given. I left a message but no return call was given. When I rated Pacific Aire, I left another message stating I felt the rating was earned by their unprofessionalism. I also informed him that on two occasions that his staff had tried to say that I was the source of the source of the bad advice as if it were my idea to install the system as it was and that I wanted the existing system modified with a split. To say that I went seven months without a complaint is fabricated bunk trying to make me look like a hothead with no patience well after an install. Had he returned any of my requests for a callback, we may not be so wide-gapped in our descriptions of the events as they were happening. Pacific Aire claims to have offered to upgrade the sytem on two occasions. The first time they insisted that they were not in a position to compete based on the existing agreement. "That's your option", to me seemed to indicate that my option was to claim their 100% satisfaction refund. When trying to rephrase this "That's your option" in my own words, they disagreed with after I got my best estimate. When pressing them for a competitive bid (based upon their claimed misunderstanding which they never explained) they simply said that they've met the owner, he is concerned with the lack of options I was given on the original consult but is unwilling to do anything for me. A competitive bid was denied; not given. They continue to state that their 100% satisfaction guarantee only includes proper installation and function of the equipment. I believe that to be misleading, self-interpreted and the primary reason that I didn't ask them to fix it. The poor installation has to be evaluated by the cotractor review board because they refuse to honor their refund policy. THAT I HAVE DELAYED DOING BUT ALL TOO OFTEN IS APPARENT THAT I SHOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED THE INITIAL ADVICE OF THE FIRST-SECOND-OPINION-CONTRACTOR TO FILE THE COMPLAINT. HE STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT TAKE SUCH A COMPLAINT LIGHTLY BUT SERIOUSLY. He didn't want to get involved in this process but as much as they tried to slander him, I think he may answer the review board's questions, if asked. I think it may be necessary to fill in the void of seven months with no complaint that Pacific Aire is trying to claim. I do have a copy of the initial service call on 4/11/2012 where Shawn actually advised the need to install a zoning system. His eyes also spotted an error in the duct routing that was missed on my consultation visit when I was advised that everything looked in-order up there in attic. I do remember the original consultant saying that I was lucky that I didn't need a pressure test which would cost me $400; no need for it, he continued. We discussed a number of things about my home none of which I recall were various options to increase efficiency or comfort. I do remember that he interrupted me and suggested a single offer to opt for a free heating unit with a total replacement option. He went on to say that I didn't qualify for the air purification and that the media filtration they offer is more than sufficient. This is when he neglected to say that the rebate program could offset these upgrade charges and make it more affordable. It was a mistake not to have competitive bids and consultations but I wouldn't have imagined that all the other contractors would have differed so much with the first suggestion and agreed wholly (meaning every other contractor and even their own repairman spotted issues with the duct that I was lead to believe was good) that the duct needed replacing and expense could be offset with the utility and manufacturers rebates. I did research on my own after that and was able to filter out some "rule of thumb" suggestions and came to the conclusion that the gentleman that got the most verbal abuse was not Pacific Aire but the one that they accused of being senile, sly and should retire. It's a shame that I had so much contention in my home which further added to my delays for relief. My sinuses were getting chronically infected with the bad air and two of the contractors that were here pointed to number of issues with the design of the installed system. The Carrier dealer noted the time delay from condenser shutoff to blower cutoff was less than 30 seconds. This allows bacteria to build-up in the coils because they are left damp with condensation which promotes its growth. Both the Carrier and York dealers' consultants noted this and the excessive noise that could have been diminished but had the opinion that the installer didn't care because he couldn't hear it from his house. They seem to pay attention to detail to details where it matters and Pacific Aire does not even keep up with their own records to make an honest detailed account when replying to a complaint! I informed them that I was getting sick from exposure and that that should be an indication that the system wasn't working properly. They seem to act offended that I gathered second opinions that were critical of their design install. They point the finger at me saying this is what I wanted; all my ideas when I didn't know the first thing about heating and A/C units. I tell them that I didn't ask for the minimal efficiency unit, the noisiest single speed motor or a unit that leaks and promotes airborne infections. I'm having surgery on my sinuses for chronic infection and obstruction from swelling. They just suggest I said that when I was denied a refund, laughing at me as if I was grasping for excuses. Oh, so now you say it's spreading bacteria and making you sick? No, that was part of my initial complaint when asking for bid or refund. They just reply with sorry, we can't do anything for you. Which contradicts the notion that they were making a bid in the first place. the only offer they made was to pay for the zoning upgrade which I informed them that they were alone in that suggestion and that I needed a competitive bid on a total replacement with efficient multi-speed blower, two-stage condenser and duct replacement.
Description of Work: They replaced the furnace, and installed a service and electrical line for the condenser unit. They told me the day they did the install, that if I didn't find the system to work properly that I needed to do zoning. Since then, they've said it was my idea. Since I didn't know what I needed, I've asked other contractors for second opinions who had said that I do not need a zoning system. Pacific Aire is trying to get me to spend more money on a system that would not work. They had me thinking they installed a starter system, which could be upgraded to a top of line system, when, in fact there is no basis for me to upgrade the system I had. The bidding contractors also said in terms of the blower cycling, that the blower was not turning off on a delay, it should run longer after the condenser unit shuts off in order to dry the coils. I am prone to sinus infections and they have increased greatly since the unit was installed. The contractors basically if the system was designed. and installed properly, my requests would have been met; efficiency, comfort and cleaner air. The basis for my complaint is my health and the design of the system. Had they listened when they consulted with me on the bid, there would not have been a complaint. Now they expect me to assume all liabilities for their mistake. Pacific Aire does not see this as a function of operation that would qualify as a dissatisfaction replacement guarantee. I have tried to relay to them that I asked for air purification and I was only offered a media filter. The contractors explained to me that they should have installed germicidal IR lights to keep the mold from growing around the wet coils. They went on to explain that there should be a delay between the blower cut off and the condenser cut off to dry the coils to help prevent the mold growth. Upon inspection by other contractors, they noted that the dryer filter on the refrigerant service line is installed backwards. They also noted that where the thermostat was installed, it is prone to frequent cycling, which will only make the drying problem on the coil even worse. The blower in the duct is leaking very badly at the service points where they installed it and were trying to seal it. I was told they used the wrong materials to seal the leaks and it is only getting worse. The advice they had for me is that the system should run continuously with an air purification system. It is also very noisy, there should have been measures to minimize the noise, which they say is a service they offer at no additional charge. Zoning this current system would only make it noisier and create more moisture in the coils. They have not honored any request to refund my money nor has the owner contact me about my complaint. They said that the system was broken, and they'd fix it. What I asked for they didn't give me; efficiency and air purification. They are asking me to assume all liabilities which I don't think is fair. They are asking me to absorb all the costs and to start over. The consultant who I worked with is no longer part of the company, so it's become an "I said, He said" situation, and are not doing anything about this, they are concerned about the fact that I wasn't offered this in terms of meeting my requests up front. They see it as no basis to refund my money. They could have replaced the duct work at no charge using the Utilities company rebate program, they withheld this from me because it was inconvenient for them.

Response from Pacific Aire Inc
This customer purchased a newly installed system on March 23, 2012. Seven months late, on October 17th the customer called to express concerns about technical issues he felt he was having with the system. He requested that the system be pulled from his home, claiming it does not work properly. Our customer service representative offered to send someone out to check the system. The customer refused. Two days later, the customer called again threatening to contact the State Licensing Board. On October 26th, our customer service department called the customer and left a message in an effort to resolve his concerns. On October 29th, our Install Manager spoke with the customer and offered to upgrade the equipment to a high efficient system at the upgraded prices, which the customer refused, stating that a competitor to Pacific Aire has suggested to the customer to have Pacific Aire remove the system so that he could make the sale by installing a high efficient system. The customer continued to claim the system isn’t working properly but refused to allow our manager to personally come out and check it. Our Install Manager did explain to the customer that after researching the entire install with me, the owner, we found that our Comfort Advisor provided multiple options at the time of the sale, including the high efficiency model. The system the customer chose is what Pacific Aire installed and at this point Pacific Aire cannot change the equipment at no cost. It’s unfortunate that a competing contractor, for whom we’ve have had to correct work in the past, is now attempting to defame Pacific Aire in an effort to get new business. As stated, the competitor is telling the customer to have Pacific Aire remove the system that the customer contracted with Pacific Aire for, and upon that removal the competitor would install a high efficient system, which Pacific Aire offered to the client back in March and again in October. Pacific Aire is not being allowed into the customer’s home to verify and fix, if needed, any problems with the system and its install. Pacific Aire is willing to return to the customer's home to review and fix, if needed, any problems with the system that the customer chose and that we installed.

They did it quickly and cleanly. They were very helpful. They came out because I called them about a strange smell. I had plumbing out and it did not solve the problem. They came out and looked at it. They told me what was wrong and showed my pictures of what was wrong so I knew they were telling me the truth. They were quick at figuring out the problem and solving it. I was really happy with them.
Description of Work: We used Pacific Aire to replace all of the duct work and vents for our furnace and house.
