 + -1 moreSmoothly. I had planned on just getting an exterior door lockable again, but have no regrets in contracting for the additional work. For YEARS I have been wanting to get the locks rekeyed so I didn't have to have 4 different keys for the exterior doors and he did everything I had wanted to do in a very short time!
Description of Work: I called and reached Charlie V. who was able to come over to evaluate the repair within 30 minutes of my call. I needed to have a broken entry lock in a metal door of our sunroom replaced. The sunroom door was thin metal (1-1/8 thick) and it was a challenge to get a standard lockset to fit it properly. To make matters worse, the strike plate wasn't screwed to the door/door frame; it was riveted! While he was working on that project, I asked him about another locking entry doorknob in the house that no longer operated properly. He said it was having a similar problem due to age (locks were about 20+ years old) and also needed to be replaced. I talked to him about rekeying all our exterior locks to just one key and he checked them and said it could be done... and did it! Awesome! He was an extremely nice person who answered all the questions we had about the locks, worked quickly, efficiently, and very neatly too. In all, 5 entry locks were rekeyed and 2 locking Kwikset knob-lock sets were completely replaced.

 + -1 moreThe person who came was not the regular guy, but someone else who worked with him. Did the job as agreed and felt the cost was reasonable.
Description of Work: Used them when we bought our house, and the provider re-keyed the 4-dead bolts including the front door, and 2 regular type locks.

 + -1 moreI was expecting to drop my locks off and come back later but instead they were re-keyed on the spot and I left with all of them in hand. The previous keys had to be wiggled to open the door properly but the new ones fit snug and open the door right up. A+ service!
Description of Work: Brought the locks to my condo to be re-keyed. A new key and several copies were made and all the locks keyed to this.

 + -1 moreWe have a door with a somewhat esoteric locking system. A spring broke inside the lock and we called a local locksmith. They had no idea even how to disassemble the lock, much less repair it. So then we called the management company for our gated community and they recommended Action Lock and Key. I called and the locksmith was here about an hour later. He disassembled the entire system, which runs the entire height of the door along the outer edge, discovered that the housing for the mechanism was welded closed, making the replacement of the broken spring impossible. The only remedy would be to replace the whole system. BUT!! He said to do so was not necessary because the door was still operational and could still be locked as designed. If the lock ever failed completely, call him and they would replace it. He then reassembled the whole thing and said, "No charge because I didn't repair anything." "What about your time?" I asked. "Don't worry about it," he replied, and off he went. HOW SPECIAL IS THAT????
