Great America Pump Co

My wife and I were out of the state when our housekeeper called to report no water at the house. Our water is supplied by a onsite well. She called Great America Pump Company (GAP) located in Oroville, CA. to investigate. They were unable to properly troubleshoot the well system. The problem was a irrigation line break of which they never discovered. I found it the same day I returned home. Had they simply isolated the system by closing separately each of the two valves at the wellhead and observing water pressure drop on the existing pressure guage, the issue would have been known and the irrgation system could have been isolated until repairs could be made. (In response GAP stated in writing they were not responsible for any problems or repairs that were not at the well site.) The property was without water for a week. My housekeeper requested water be brought it and GAP was unresponsive on several occasions. Just prior to arriving home, I called GAP requesting water and they called a local company for water they knew was not certified as potable and brought in with a tank truck that was not certified for potable water as stated by the water service owner. Upon our return, my wife became ill with a stomach virus and was treated at a clinic. For a week, the well pump ran continuously resulting in overload as stated by GAP. They then attempted to pull the pump but was unable due to an existing rock partially collapsing of the liner above the pump. They lost a camera in the well stating it was (swept away into a cavern) which of course did not exist.They placed a "used pump" on top of the existing pump leaving my well with only half the depth and part of the liner. A few weeks later the well pump begin surging. (partial loss of suction). Bottom line, GAP never discovered the leak, left my well in nonworking condition, sold us a used well pump, and charged us for a new one of a different brand as indicated on the bill. Due to GAP's incompetence, I called in Precision Pump who discovered that the pump was not the one we were billed for and was unable to remove the old pump with their equipment. It was determined the well needed a driller in a last ditch effort to salvage the well. David & Sons was able to remove the old pump and liner and salvage the well. Precision Pump returned my well to previous working conditions. This is a synopsis of events and not in any particular order. I have been asking only for compensation of which has been denied. I have also refused to pay GAP until this matter is resolved. I have reported this incident to GAP's Bond company which at this time will not make a decision when facts are being disputed. I am now working with the Contractors Board attempting to establish facts and favorable decision.
