Description of Work: Our first contact was at the Auburn home and garden show on May 3rd, 2015. I wanted to get a quick appointment and had one scheduled that next Wed. Brandi showed up on time and it hurts me writing these details since she was so patient with my 69 year old mother and she was so nice and understanding with what my mom was asking for. She spent the time listening to my mom but it wasn't until after the appointment where my disappointment started. Brandi showed up on May 6th and I still have not received the quote yet (one month later). She has had some communication with me but it has only been with excuses. My opinion of this company is that they have to be doing something right since they are still in business but if you go with this company, I would say please put them on a timeline. Maybe put in the contract some stipulations for communication. We had two companies come out and Brandi was sooo nice I was really hoping the bid would come in comparable to the other, but the quote was never received. We have reached out in Text (5 times) and phone calls (4 Times). Please do your homework on these type of companies since there are a lot of them on this list. The other company came out for a quote a week later and we received the bid within 10 days.

Description of Work: We went over details of our usage of our backyard and received a very nice drawing of our plan. It was a pleasant experience and we find we are using our yard as suggested and enjoying it. We are doing the work bit by bit ourselves and really appreciate the plan.

The gentleman was very pleasant and helpful. However, the price for the things I wanted to do was very high. And I did not receive any plans - which was part of the ad. He informed me the plans would cost about $1500. So , essentially, I paid $90 for a consultation.
Description of Work: The ad on Angie's list was for "4 hours landscape design and consultation w/ plans." The gentleman came out to my home twice and spent a significant amount - probably the full 4 hours - of time discussing landscaping, patios, etc. He had a lot of good ideas about what types of plants to use, and where to place them, and what type of concrete to use, and where the patios should be located, and other esthetic concerns.

Description of Work: I met with Nathan (landscape architect) of Stone Creek Landscaping for a four hour consultation (through Angie's List Big Deal) about future plans for my backyard. We initially sat to discuss what I had in mind for the backyard...needs/wants/dreams. After the initial discussion, we went outside and he immediately starting walking and drawing. It was obvious he listened very well because all of a sudden my ideas (and some dreams!) were on paper. Nathan brought a spray can and outlined the design we discussed - which helped me tremendously. The weather didn't cooperate and it started raining on us. Instead of getting out of the rain, he was a trooper and continued on until the full design was completed on the lawn. Once we were back inside, he provided several books on different landscape plants/designs for me to review. While he was finalizing the design, I went through the landscaping books and showed him which pictures I liked. By the end of the session, I had a great design and rather large list of recommended plants. I would highly recommend Stone Creek Landscaping for their knowledge and professionalism.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and we would recommend this design service to a friend. We walked the yard and talked with Mike, pointing out what we liked and disliked. Mike had very good ideas about how we could improve our backyard experience. When he figured out we were going to do as much of the work as we could ourselves, he helped us determine what we should do first, and wrote down the steps he recommended we follow. Mike listened carefully to our opinions and thoughts and came up with a sketch and a plan for a yard transformation that we will be able to do ourselves (mostly) and will fit our lifestyle and look great. $90 well spent.
Description of Work: Mike from Stone Creek came over and sketched out some ideas for our back yard. We used the coupon from Angie's List for Landscape Design.

They have a great crew of hard workers. They are great with my kids, too! We did not compare the price with any other company.

My experience with Stone Creek Landscape was excellent and well worth the $90.00. It remains to be seen if additional work will be performed.
Description of Work: This was a promotion for four hours of landscape review and a drawing. Nathan was on time and very professional. He spent a few hours looking over my yard and made several excellent suggestions. He prepared a drawing listing plants and trees by name. He is preparing an estimate for some of his suggestions.

He showed up on time. I told him I had an appointment in two hours, that I had to be somewhere at 11am, he said fine. I had started the conversation by saying there were some things that had to be done (for example, tree in front yard broken off by the wind, needed to be replaced) and some things I wanted done eventually, it depended on how much things all cost (a pergola in the backyard), I didn't have unlimited money. So he should have known I was on a budget. I had also booked with this company instead of another one that was advertising sending out a "landscape designer" because I knew that would cost more than I wanted to spend and I didn't want to waste that person's time. i thought I was just getting a free estimate as advertised by the company's website. He started talking about the big plans for the house. I thought, ok, great, that all sounds great, I listened to his suggestions and looked at samples for over an hour. It sounded great, but finally I said, listen, how much do these things cost? He said he could come up with complete drawn out plans and a five-year paving and panting plan for turning my yard into a paradise (my words not his) for $700. So this was a landscape design service he was trying to sell. I told him, I'm military, I probably won't still be living here in five years, I just needed a few things done, how much do they cost? So he wasn't going to get hired at this point, and he took it fairly well. Then he spent the next 40-ish minutes measuring and writing down figures, while I paced and watched the clock. A couple times I told him, I have to go, I have somewhere to be by 11!! And he said, ok, great, I'm almost done. He gave me a price list that seemed very expensive (I later hired someone to do work he estimated as costing in the thousands for $500) and I was late to my 11 am appointment. If you just want the free estimate, be very clear on it from the beginning of the appointment. That's what I said, but they tried to sell me the design service, and while it's probably worth the money, it wasn't what I wanted or asked for.
Description of Work: Just a free estimate, which took over two hours. When I called to book, I had to wait three weeks for the appointment.

We more than pleased with our experience from beginning to end with Stone Creek Landscaping and Construction, Brad Jennings,Clemente and his ground crew. An initial consultation about artificial grass gave us a front yard we never would have thought of on our own but love what they have done for us. Brad won us over because he saw more potential for our front yard then just trying to fulfill the service call for the estimate. He had several ideas, listened to ours, answered many questions we had with the utmost patience and came up with a design that filled all our requirements. Brad provided us with a picture of what the river bed would look like once done and gave us a list of the plants so we would know what was growing out there. Brad took pictures of the finished work for us with our camera. The grounds crew arrived each day involved on time and went right to work. The three of them worked very hard from arrival to departure and in the intense heat of July.We asked Clemente questions about the work he and his crew were doing as it progressed and he answered us.These men were very had working and we thank them for the beautiful yard we now have. We were quite pleased with the results. We have since then gotten compliments from neighbors and passers-bys and have mentioned Stone Creek Landscaping and Construction each time asked so hopefully the company will get more referrals. For once we had no buyer's remorse having chosen the right company for us.
Description of Work: We had already removed trees, shrubs and other landscaping from our front lawn planning on re-doing the landscaping ourselves but that plan quickly went nowhere and left us with a barren front yard. We initially called Stone Creek Landscaping & Construction for a estimate on installation of artificial grass for the area nearest the street. Brad Jennings gave us that estimate but when he heard us mention we had no idea what to do with the two barren areas nearest the house he came up with an alternate landscaping design that would encompass landscaping all areas. Brad consulted with us about the level of landscaping and maintance factor. Once we decided on a dry creek river bed landscape for the front nearest the street and artificial grass for the areas nearest the house Brad suggested plants within the color scheme we wanted that would compliment the dry creek bed landscape. We hired Stone Creek Landscaping to impliment the design suggested as Brad's professionalism, personality and ideas made us more confident Stone Creek was the company we wanted to deal with. The others we had obtained estimates from that gave us nothing more than a bid for what we called them for an no suggestions fo how to landscape the other areas yet to do. The Stone Creek crew arrived on time and promptly began work removing about 4 inches of dirt, rocks, tree roots and planters to make way for the dry creek bed.Once all that debris was removed, the sprinklers in the area were capped off for later installation of a drip system, the ground was evened out, a heavy commercial grade fabric was laid out for the dry creek river bed and the yet to be planted landscape. New soil was mixed with the remainder for the original soil, a drip system was then installed for that area and the rocks and boulders laid in the river bed. Brad would bring the plants selected to compliment the river bed design and we were pleased with his selections. These were planted and black bark was laid to cover the entire section. The areas nearest the house were also removed of 4 inches of dirt, roots.weeds, etc. to install the artificial grass. The ground was evened out, the commercial grade fabric laid and sand and other fillers for the artifical grass were put in place and heavily packed down. All this work was done by hand. The sprinklers in those areas were also capped off and one small area would have a drip system installed for a plant that would help disguise the sewer cleanout. Two days later, the crew would arrive on time to lay the artificial grass. It took about four hours to properly lay it out, cut it to fit the area, sand, rake and fluff the grass to look more natural. River stones were placed around a tree as a boarder making the tree surrounded by artificial grass look like it has always been that way. One section around the water main pipes was left with no artificial grass and was filled in with river stones for future replacement of the water main line without disturbing the newly planted landscape.
When the landscape designer completed the plan for the backyard renovation, I got three bids for the work and selected Stone Creek's Robert Circle for the job. I had worked with Robert before in 2008--Stone Creek installed the artificial turf in my front yard. I knew from that experience that Robert was professional, hard working, and a good problem solver. Therefore, I was not surprised that his proposal was the most complete and addressed potential issues that the other bidders had not--for example the dry rot on the posts of my existing arbor. I felt Robert's attention to detail set him apart from the other bidders. Robert's crew started by removing the old waterfall and pond, both of which were thicker and harder to remove than expected. The fence also proved more challenging than anticipated, and between the pond removal and the fence building, the project took longer than expected. However, once those elements were completed work progressed well. The landscape designer came to check on progress when the plants arrived and was pleased overall with the work that had been done. We had an unexpected problem with water along one side of the fence. We couldn't understand why the ground was so very wet in that particular spot. Robert discovered that my neighbor had a crushed drain line that was dumping excess water into my yard. Since the neighbor wasn't planning on fixing the problem in the near future, Robert built a French drain along the fence which removed enough of the excess water so we could go ahead and plant. We had a big surprise at the end of the project--the fountain which the designer and I had selected from a catalog proved to be unsuitable for the location. There was no other suitable location in the backyard, but Robert's problem solving skills came to the fore, and he devised a means to put the fountain into the desired location with some additional work. This was a huge save because the fountain was the focal point of the yard. If we had had to settle for something else--a different fountain for example, the whole design concept would have been compromised and the results would not have been as beautiful as the yard turned out to be. The work that Stone Creek did in my backyard speaks for itself. I have received tons of compliments. It is a soothing, relaxing, and elegant place. Robert is an excellent landscaper and a pleasure to work with. I would use his services again.
Description of Work: Stone Creek did renovation work on my backyard based on a design plan provided by my landscape designer. This included removing specified plants, planter beds, arbor, fencing, old irrigation, and a small pond and waterfall. They built and painted a new fence and gate, replaced the pond with a brick patio, built a brick walkway, and removed and reset a flagstone patio. All three--the patio, walkway, and flagstones were set in concrete. In addition, they set a flagstone path leading to the flagstone patio. Due to a neighbor's crushed drain, they installed a French drain to improve drainage on my side of the property. The arbor was relocated to a different location and the rotted posts replaced. They built privacy screens, installed new irrigation, plants, lighting, and fountain. They repaved and repaired cement patios and walkways, and installed a new hose bib next to the fountain. They brought in an electrician to disconnect the old waterfall's pump, and to move the electrical outlet to the fountain's new location. Their electrician connected the switches for the fountain and lighting to an existing switch inside the house for ease of operation. They poured a pad and posts for the fountain and secured the fountain to the posts. They covered all surfaces with rock or cedar bark according to the design plan. They cleaned the yard thoroughly at the end of the project, including the existing artificial turf which they had covered with a tarp during the work.
