Solid General Construction

First of all, my husband is a retired shop teacher and is very particular about the work done on our home. We found all aspects of our experience with Nick and his crew to be above and beyond our expectations. Luckily, Nick was able to come out the day I called and we then received a prompt estimate. The written invoice of this job was very thorough, and a reasonable deposit requested. We were amazed at how courteous each of them were to us as well as to other crew members, how professional they were, and their punctuality. Since it was a lot of work, they were here for more than 5 days. Each day they performed well beyond code requirements. They were respectful of our other property, and made sure it was secured and cleaned up at the end of each day. If unforeseen problems arose, communication was excellent with us to reach an agreeable solution. It was obvious to us early on that the crew took pride in their craftsmanship. Due to our satisfaction on all aspects of our experience with Solid General Construction, we will seek them out on future needs around our home, and we will recommend them to friends and family. For us, we feel you couldn't get a better overall construction experience.

They are all very nice people, however, mistakes were made (see below): Tiles in first bathroom: there were problems & they fixed them the best that they could. And we accepted the fix enough to let them continue onto the next bathroom. There were some plumbing issues: resulting in water seepage into the living room. They destroyed the rocks in our backyard & areas of our patio floor. There is so much cement/chemicals on the rocks that it's taking days/weeks to clean it all up. I won't pretend that I know allot about grout & tile but I assumed contractors would seal them. But I just finished sealing them as they didn't/don't do it.

After several calls back and forth, we were able to agree on a week in April 2015. There were two on the crew. They were able to arrive on time and complete the work on the agreed timetable. I was pleased with the level of communication and updates during the project week - this level of communication was great, as we had to stay out of the way and away one overnight to facilitate the work getting done. The finished product looks great. We are very pleased with the level of work done. We would use this company again.

It went well. I had to pay them an additional $450 beyond the big deal price. They were good and professional. They were a little bit pricey. I was kind of surprised how much he was charging for the posts. It was like $200 more or something like that. The quality was good.

Couldn't ask for better service. These guys were timely, friendly, and worked quickly to fix the rotten backyard fence that was messed up when I bought the house. Now, it stands up just fine and I can keep my dog in my backyard during the day, without fear of it falling over or anything. Thanks!!!

I explained what I wanted done and of course it was more than what I have paid on the deal. Everything was working well. I was very impressed. The owner came over and worked around with me. He seemed to understand what I was talking about and seemed to understand what he has to do. I am a retired engineer so I have some concept to construction and he seemed to know what he was doing. They came in to do the demo and were very thorough and get a lot of cleaning afterward. He seemed a tuned to customer satisfaction and it probably helped that this guy has a personal relationship with the roofers. So he did the necessary coordination as far as knowing when he could come back and complete his work, why they need for him to leave it open. He left the place cleaner when they found it. I am confident that they will complete the job on time. I have nothing but good things to say about him so far.

He was prompt, courteous and professional. I had used an Angie's List coupon for 4 hours of exterior carpentry or fence repair work. I paid an additional $50 for supplies.

He had excellent customer service and was very upfront and honest. He also had great communication skills. I appreciated the evaluation of the project that he gave me. He also gave me a general idea of how much it would cost to have a larger job done properly at a later date.

Showed up on time. Polite. Respectful. Offered several alternative solutions and talked through pros and cons. Executed services as promised. Easy to work with the whole way through. I would definitely use them again.

They said that since we were a manufactured home community, they do not do work here. I was speaking with Nick and he said it was their policy not to do work in a mobile home park and hung up on me.

There were no troubles with scheduling. Two men came for the job and stayed for two hours together. I was unprepared for the work and I did pay an additional $250 for the materials through him. After they had left, I went over and looked at the job and the quality was not as good as I had thought. Overall, my experience with them was fine.

The owner of SGC called me to discuss job ahead of time. I said I would purchase the small amount of wood needed for repair and to expedite the job. It worked out great!! They did a fabulous job in a reasonable amount of time. I will definitely use their services again!

He did a great job. Was friendly and efficient. There were several areas where the exterior wood trim was showing wood rot. He replaced several rotting planks and covered other areas with flashing. I had left over paint that he used to match exterior color.

reframed the window exteriors, caulked the windows and primed the bare siding. They offered to paint, but I was not ready for that. How did it go???? The initial callback was very quick, estimate date/time as scheduled, work day right on time (I wasn't there the first day because of work), but all was clean and 50% complete when I got home. The second day, they were right on time, clean, efficient and completed right on time. In addition, he had a tile guy scheduled for another job, but could gain access to the house. I happened to have tile and materials to replace my entry. He gave me a great deal and his guy knocked the job out the same day. So...I have a new, secure, water-tight wall AND new entry tile. Gotta love that! His crew is professional, yet comfortable to be around...but not "overly" comfortable. The just-right mix. I plan on using the crew again for my "list" of repairs.

They did a great job and will definitely use them again. Nick came out to do an estimate on the job - he was on time and very professional. It was obvious he had experience with decks and gave me some options on how to fix the deck that wouldn't break the bank. He followed up with a quote, and was able to source a pressure treated replacement beam that fit perfectly within the space and last a very long time. He scheduled the job around my calendar and showed up with his team, all very professional and courteous. They took out the old beam and installed the new one very quickly. They even added flashing prevent water from pooling on the top of the beam and hopefully ensuring no more rot. I really appreciated the extras like the flashing and treatment of the remaining beam. They left the jobsite clean and took everything away. I will definitely call on Nick again!

Arranged an appointment and kept it. Was punctual. Explained what needed to be done and estimated the cost of materials to complete the work. Work was completed within the time frame and material costs were as estimated. Very satisfactory professionally completed job.

They are very kind, professional, efficient, and friendly! I cannot give them high enough recommendations. They were very cautious about keeping my home clean, and went above and beyond the job. I really appreciate their thoroughness and their great line of communication.

I was over charged for the posts that were used, and they ruined a board that is a part of my neighbor's fence, which he replace. They did not paint the areas of the fence that were needed, and when they left, they left a large amount of heavy concrete debris behind, and they quoted around $40 to take it away.

I bought a $300 value coupon for $150. The labor was included in that part of the agreement. It cost an Additional $225 for the materials and everything was completed the same day. Two gallons of exterior paint matching the house and trim were left with me for future use. The Company was forthright and responsive. Their work was professional and we have no complaints. I will use them again when we have a future need.

They were great, really nice, very polite.

Nick and his crew were great! I would hire them again in a minute---what more do I need to say?

This time I am confident the gate was finally done correctly. They had to saw off part of the plywood lining the inside garage wall to add 3 2x4 supports. They then securely fastened the gate post to these supports. It's on their tightly now! Once finished with the gate problem, they reattached the plywood to make everything look as good as new! The coupon was for 4 hours of labor, but this took them about 1.5 hours. That's fine because having the job done well - finally - was worth the extra hours.

This is the third time that I have had the guys from Solid General out to my place. I had a bunch of rotted siding in the front of my house and a leaking drain pipe underneath. In about a weeks time the men replaced all the rotted siding, primed and painted the front of the house, Installed new light fixtures and repaired the leak. Nick was great about informing me on the longest lasting products for the exterior. He said he only uses the best and I believe him because their work seems to hold up nicely. All in all the crew was a group of good guys that I could trust to be in my home and around my family. They even managed not to let my little escapee dog out the front door. They were clean, professional and I could tell that they actually gave care about my house. I wouldn't say they are the cheapest in town but you get what you pay for I guess. If you want quality repairs done, use these guys.

I made initial contact the day before the job date. The team performed the above services from 8:30-5:30. they were conscious of my dog which I appreciated. They cleaned up well after work and conducted themselves professionally during their work.

The service was outstanding. They were on time, were very friendly, worked very hard and did excellent work.
