Solid General Construction

The young gentleman (can't recall his name) was very courteous and professional. He and his assistant did a great job. Was refreshing to see someone so young be respectful and with manners.

2 days 3 workers ,thorough, respectful , helpful in pursuing other contractors for further issues

Work was shoddy and instead of asking if I wanted a few more boards repaired they just painted them! Front door lock jam had two screws not the 4 and was told it was the way they are installed! Also have a nail as you go down the stairs from living room that was not there but clearly was from a nail gun most likely from the deck work and was fed a line that the nail was there you can see it must have come through from the wall or some BS!!! Unprofessional plus used bad quality wood for the top of the decking slats. Fed another story. Placed crooked then did not caulk the gaps left due to this. Was fed a line about cutting the wood and lining it up, etc. etc. Then to top all of this off I told an individual they could have a big heavy hose I was throwing out but strangely my new black crinkle hose is gone. Of course according to a Kristen no one has it or took it and actually got an attitude when I asked how one day it was there then the next gone!! So now I've got to go buy another one! Didn't always answer in a timely manner when texting or actually ever. Phone calls okay. I would not recommend due to the lack of concern for detail and shoddy work!!!

Nick showed up when he said he would to give me an estimate, and he showed up when he said he would on the day he and his crew did the work. That work was done professionally and to my satisfaction at what I considered to be a reasonable price. And I like that there was no attempt to upsell me things I didn't need. All in all, a good experience. I will definitely be contacting Solid General the next time I need work done on my home.

I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat. I appreciated their skill. They are extremely professional and competent. I knew I was in good hands the whole time, which incidentally was under two weeks. They went above and beyond to help me get at least the toilet and vanity ready for Saturday guests. Nick is accomplished at so many levels. Thanks to them for one super job!

When I saw the add "I thought how can I lose, its only 100 dollars ". I was also looking for someone I could count to do projects in the future that I cannot handle, Both projects were done perfect and blended into the newly painted walls. And, their nice people. I do not see any other projects needed to be done around home any time soon. But, I will keep their number if I am wrong.

did not hire . I inquired about an estimate and this was his reply: No charge for an estimate as long as the customer is planning on doing the work and not solely looking for numbers. Seriously! How do you know if you want to hire someone if you haven't met them or know what they are going to charge.. He never came to give me an estimate.

My wife and I were getting ready to paint the exterior of our home, and there were a couple of small carpentry jobs that needed to be done. We have a large front porch and one of the support posts had been infected with wood beetles and needed to be removed and replaced. Also, the bottom 6" of an exterior door frame had been lost to a teething puppy. The puppy ate it! Nick from Solid General Construction was able to give us an estimate for both jobs over the phone using photos. When he arrived, he and his coworker worked quickly, efficiently and competently to complete both jobs. Our home is 56 years old, so he was careful to make the repairs according to current code. We give Solid General Construction a wholehearted endorsement and would definitely hire them again.

They did an excellent job replacing four fence posts. I was also impressed with their communication. They were quick to contact me to schedule the repair. They called ahead of time to discuss the job and clarify what I wanted. They sent a text when they were on the way to my house. They were on time. They cleaned up well after the job.

Fantastic job, overall so friendly and professional. I also very much appreciated that Nick told me the truth on repairs that were not necessary from the original home inspection report.

The job went real smooth. The guys helped me out with repairing sections of my deck that had become dry rotted over the years. They removed the bad boards and installed new pressure treated framing boards and replaced the decking on top. They were able to save me from having to replace the whole deck, which was a big help. They also replaced some fence posts for me while salvaging the redwood panels. I could tell that Nick really cared about saving me money so that I could get the deck and the fence tuned up in one shot and on budget.

Nick responded quickly, set an appointment a couple of weeks out, but was very punctual. Was very pleasant and approachable. I felt very comfortable that he was extremely knowledgeable and competent. Very responsive to answering my subsequent e-mail questions. Would like to have contracted with Nick, but unfortunately, his estimate was the highest of three by many hundreds of dollars.

I purchased a red cedar gate kit from Pacific Gateworks and had a terrible time finding a contractor to install it. I came across Nick's business on Angie's List and messaged him. Nick contacted me within a day and we set up an appointment for him to come by and take a look at my patio and the gate. He was super personable and discussed with me several options for installation. I agreed to move forward with installation, his assistant emailed me a quote and a proposed date and time and this morning Nick arrived to install my new gate. One he started the project, he called me at work and let me know that he was going to alter the installation that we had discussed - it was going to be less complicated that he had first thought. Once he finished, he sent me a couple photos and emailed me over his invoice -- it was less than his initial proposal! I am super impressed by his professionalism and his craftsmanship. I will be keeping Nick's information for future projects at my house.

Nick responded promptly to my request for a bid, scheduling time to visit our house within a couple of days. He was enthusiastic about the project and responded with a bid just as quickly. First day of construction Nick and his team laid down protective covers over our wood floors and his entire team was very courteous. Nick and his team were efficient working throughout the day, finishing ahead of schedule. Nick consulted me several times throughout the project to make sure everything was proceeding correctly. Everything went exactly as Nick outlined and we were very happy with the end result. We would definitely use Solid General Construction again.

Did all of the tasks successfully

The owner and his brother were great to work with and very responsive, and did a nice job on everything. My only reservation is that some (not all) of the materials they used were a little sub-standard. I think they might agree, and it was certainly not a big issue. They were very good about finishing up a few details on final walkthrough. I would use them again.

Rude, unprofessional, waste of time, Bad all the way around

I needed work done to repair some rotted wood around my chimney and tried to call the provider. I reached a voicemail and was asked to leave a message. I indicated the need the above job and also mentioned that I have some other jobs that would become available and asked if I could get estimates. i left my name and two different phone numbers where I would be reached. That was on 9/24/2015 - as of today 10/2/2015 I have never received a call back.

I paid for 40 hours of contractor services and got 26 hours which included a long lunch and the completion of a previous job. I didn't see the contractor after the initial meeting and he lost the list of jobs to compete. I fould out one of the workmen was a tile guy and I asked if he could come back and do a tile job to complete the time paid for and was told yes. They never responded for my request to complete the time paid for.

The supplies needed were expensive so that upped the cost of the project. But they did a good job.

Nick and his team are fantastic! Very professional and personable, they were even great with my kid and dog! They took the size and use of the space into consideration and built the pergola to the ideal design and dimensions. I paid exactly what they had quoted me - no surprises there. They even stayed a little into the evening so that they could finish the work in two days instead of three. This is the second time I've used this company and I plan to continue using them for all my indoor and outdoor home projects.

We had to pay $300 more. We were not that happy with the price and everything. He was a real nice kid. I liked the kid that did the work.

Nick and his crew were great and did fabulous work. He was very mindful of my budget and worked with me on keeping the costs down. The french drain was the major project and it worked great with a small storm we had about a week after the installation. I purchased an Angie's deal to get the work done,so my cost may be cheaper than normal due to the labor costs would have been more money. I would highly recommend Nick and he will be the first I go to if I need more work done in the future.

Nick sent me an estimate for a renovation project that involved structural work. We ended up not actually going with him just because we had to change some plans on our end, but he was very professional and gave us a very fair estimate.

The jobs were done quickly & well. Friendly service too. There was a mix-up on my appointment time but it was handled by the owner in a satisfactory way. I would recommend them & overall a good value with the deal I purchased.
