Fantastic!!
Description of Work: Because of the wet winter I unfortunately discovered, due to leaks above my windows that my original contractor had installed my windows incorrectly. I contacted Nick to come out and give me his opinion on the problem. After some exploratory work his diagnosis was incorrect window flashing. After pulling the stucco off my two story wall he was right along with the discovery of severe dry rot that was happinging over many years. Nicks crew re framed my windows and removed the rot. Dry walled and textured the inside taking EXTREME care to protect the rest of the house from dry wall dust. Two days and it was done. Great work, great price and great guys!

Description of Work: Nick was on time and did a great job. I'd had him do other work and was happy with all but one issue which he corrected immediately so my review needs to be updated! Fair and honest pricing and great communication and fast response. I'd hire him a 3rd time when I need more done.

Zack did a great job!
Description of Work: Zack repaired our fence. He had to replace 2 fence posts and a few slats of fence. Then he reattached the fence panels. I was really impressed that he did the minimum I needed. A different contractor wanted to replace our whole fence for big bucks!

Description of Work: No show. Woke my kids up from their nap and drive 40 minutes to be stood up by this guy. Guy calls 15 minutes before the appointment to confirm and because I didn't answer he moves onto his next appointment. I called him 3 times and he didn't answer, then texts me an hour later to tell me he won't be able to make it today. DO NOT USE THIS GUY!!! He shouldn't be on Angie's list!

It went VERY WELL. From the beginning when Nick came out to give me the estimate he was professional and responsive to my concerns. He was extremely timely (which was a very welcomed surprise as I have had several contractors never call back after the initial estimate was given!) Solid General Construction provided a quality service and produced a quality product. I am VERY HAPPY with their work and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!

They began work on the 06/10/2014. There were three workers who worked from 8:00 am and worked until 1:00pm. They were there that day to only do the demolition in the bathroom. They removed both the tub and the toilet within 10 minutes. By the end of the second day they had replaced the faucets in both my kitchen and bathroom and had replaced the ceiling fan and removed the vinyl flooring located in my bathroom exposing a very problematic looking scene. The area was clearly rotting away. They covered it over with pieces of particle board leaving the toilet pipe exactly where it was. I later found that they had used the wrong nails for the job. When he put in the shower pan, the left hand front corner was higher than the other three corners. This was a $380 tray. This was an injection molded shower pan. On the first day, it felt like the pan had nothing underneath it which was dangerous. There was also a rectangular hole left behind from where the original bath had been built. My own personal general contractor noticed immediately that the new faucet in the bathroom was still leaking and upon closer inspection it had been sealed with tape. I think a normal contractor would have tested the faucet and fixed it. In the end, I hired my own personal general contractor to fix the job Solid General Construction had left behind which cost me $1,300.00.
Description of Work: I had hired them to do 40 hours of handyman services.

Response from Solid General Construction
The home owner is referring to work we were contracted to preform at his property on the (insert number of block) block of [member address removed]; not the property listed on this review. The actual property is a manufactured home in which he originally wanted to install a handicap-friendly bathroom. By Necessity, manufactured homes are built to a much lower technical standard both in assembly and use of materials. This is why they cost significantly less than a regular home. Unfortunately, the tradeoff you make when you try to save money on the outset is that maintenance down the road will cost more by virtue of the fact that building code has a different set of limitations on newly fabricated manufactured homes and remodeling (any) homes. This basic level of common sense almost doesn’t bear with writing but clearly, in this case, it’s a major component of what was missing in the first place. In that he wanted to install handicap-accessible shower in a prefabricated home, there was considerable structural work required to accomplish that job in a legal, safe way. Solid General Construction is a quality company, not a budge company. We aren’t paying hundreds of dollars a month on Angieslist to access homeowners who are solely looking for the kind of prices, and corresponding quality of work, you can get on Craigslist. That’s just the start of what he’s not telling you though. We arrived at his property to find a floor that had suffered years of neglected maintenance. Prior to beginning work, we counseled him that there was likely to be more work beyond our over-the-phone estimate to ensure a safe and appropriate remediation including the specialized work he wanted done and did he want us to proceed with opening the floor up. He did and we did. After we opened the floor up, the individual requested an estimate for extra funds necessary to remediate that area. When given, he decided to cancel our ongoing contract. This is actually a legal action that this individual could well have seen himself in court for with a less tolerant contractor. If we were operating along the strictest lines of our own interests, we should have threatened to lien his manufactured home for the entirety of the contract plus damaged for early termination. As it happens, we’re not that kind of company and thus exercised courtesy; allowing him to pay us only for the time and materials that we purchased and had used for the job. We didn’t charge him any fees whatsoever for allowing him out of the contract as would have been our right and we even left the area nicer than we had found it, for what that’s worth, ready for whomever else he had intended to use to remediate it. The individual presumes to hold us accountable for a floor we didn’t damage and a job he didn’t allow us to complete.

We purchased their Angie's list deal for 40 square foot of tile work for $449.00. Our bathroom was slightly larger, but we paid the difference. We also added the cost of resetting the toilet and replacing the baseboards and supplies to do that. It was about $190.00 for the extras. We also had them tile our laundry. We purchased the tile and grout ourselves. They were on time, very pleasant to deal with, and we felt that we got a fair price. Nick was very quick to answer our questions via email and even called us back very quickly a couple of times. The quality of the job is excellent. We have sealed the grout and as we did so we noticed the great job done up close. We would use Nick again. We would also recommend him to others.

We used Solid General construction for some of our home remodeling work, and the guys did a terrific job. They had ideas on how to improve the installation even without additional cost, and they were committed to ensuring the job was complete and clean. Great attitudes, very responsive, flexible, and highly capable. I wouldn't call them cheap, but their pricing was completely fair, and we will certainly use these guys again.

Job went VERY well and quickly with little mess and problems were non-existant. New 18" ceramic tile replaced the carpet and 12" tile in the master bath and toilet room, which due to room size, meant a lot of measuring and tile cutting. Everything was completed in a clean and timely matter by the two man crew of Nick and his brother, Zack.

This was a dream job from start to finish. In our first phone conversation, Nick suggested using a larger tile which we hadn't really considered. But what a great idea. It's nice to get some input other than "I'll do whatever you want." He put me at ease in discussing different options and we set a date for him to come by and take a look. The day before our appointment Nick contacted me and said they had a change in their schedule and would actually be able to do the job that next day if we wanted to. I jumped at the chance and was happy to have our project moving forward so fast. It helped to cut through my usual indecision and we quickly decided on the 18x18 tile in a lighter color than we had before. So easy! When Nick and his brother Zack arrived the morning of the job (calling first to say they were on their way) we were so impressed with how organized they were and the prep they did to minimize mess. It's these little things that mean so much to a neat-nit like myself! I especially appreciated that they explained what they would be doing and Nick took the time to discuss the grout color that I was having second thoughts about. By the time I came back with the lighter color (15 minutes) Zack had the tile in the toilet room removed. So fast! Hhmm, I think they've done this a couple hundred times before. ;) I went on to work and husband and son stayed and all comments from them on the job progress were positive. Job was expected to be complete around 5:30 and they finished by 4:30. When I came home and saw this beautiful tile floor where boring tile and carpet used to be, I got a little teary-eyed. It transformed the room! And they didn't leave a mess! Our house is almost 20 years old and still has white tile in the tub and bath. It's in great shape, which is nice. But this small change, which didn't really cost a lot, makes such a difference. After we paint and put in new glass enclosure in the shower, it will look like a whole new room. I'm just so pleased to have worked with Nick and Zack and I can't recommend them enough. I will definitely use them again. Friendly, dependable, knowledgable, and beautiful tile work. That's a keeper!

removed the wallpaper they found a major water pipe leak which they repaired immediately. We now have a new slate tile shower, new lighting, a new granite top cabinet with a raised glass bowl sink and a new water efficient toilet. In the second bathroom lighting was changed, a new tub and toilet were installed, and Nick even refinished our existing bathroom cabinet! Finally tile floors were installed in both bathrooms and the walls were painted. Once again the finished job was completed on time and we now have two beautiful bathrooms. Nick's great personality and his professional work ethic made it a pleasure to work with him. I am completely satisfied with all the work Solid General Construction did and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Over a two year period Nick Bossio and his workers at Solid General Construction did several major projects at my house. They designed and built an outdoor 3 level deck of composite materials, remodeled my kitchen, wet bar, and two bathrooms, and replaced flooring in my kitchen, entry hall, living room, family room, and hallway. As you can see Nick and his crew used a multitude of skills to complete each project. The first project was our backyard deck. They tore down the original deck and removed all the debris each day. With plans done by an architect Nick and his crew built a new deck, including outdoor lighting and fans I can't tell you how many people love the deck when they see it. We were so impressed with Nick's efforts that we decided to have him tackle some indoor projects. We first had him remodel our kitchen and wet bar with new cabinets, appliances, and granite counter tops. They used 18" travertine tiles which flowed from our entry hall into the kitchen and wet bar. Next they install hand scraped wide plank flooring in our living room, family room, and small hallway During this whole process Nick and his helpers were conscientious, making sure things were cleaned up every afternoon before they left. These jobs were completed in two months, just in time for my daughters engagement party! Friends couldn't believe the transformation. The next year we asked Nick to help us redo two bathrooms. Wallpaper was removed and the walls were retextured. When they removed the wallpaper in one bathroom they found a major water pipe leak and repaired that immediately. We now have a slate tile shower with lighting, a new granite top cabinet with a raised glass bowl sink, and a water efficient toilet. In the second bathroom the lighting was also changed, a new tub and toilet were installed, and Nick even refinished our existing bathroom cabinet. Finally tile floors were installed in both bathrooms and the walls were painted. Once again the jobs were finished on time and we now have two beautiful bathrooms. Nick's great personality and his professional work ethic made it a real pleasure to work with him and his crew. I am completely satisfied with all the work Solid General Construction did and I highly recommend them for any project you need done.

I can't say enough about Nick and his brother too! I wasn't sure how to find someone that would take on all my little but important items, I saw him on Angie's list and gave him a call. Best call that I have made in a long time. He was very responsive and had really good ideas for the fixes. All was done in a timely manner and was well done. My experience with working with Nick though was really good. You know when you work with a contractor you just click or don't. Well, I clicked with him. He has a great can do attitude and energy. I will have some other projects coming up and one is a kitchen remodel and I will only want him for this project.

This was the first time we have purchased a home that needed a "facelift", being a forclosure we weren't really sure where to start. After a very informative initial meeting to discuss the best way to get "more bang" for the buck, we signed a contract and the renovations began. The kitchen was mostly demolished except for the cabinets, which we painted ourselves, Nick Bossio & his team created a very beautiful "open concept" kitchen/family room area. the ceiling was floated, 7 can lights with dimmers were installed, grantie countertops were installed along with a granite composite sink. The backsplash really made the difference between standard every day & outstanding. Nick went the extra mile to design a beautiful glass subway tile wall including complete tile around the kitchen sink which overlooks the pool in the backyard. The laminate floors turned out amazing, we chose a beautiful "hand scraped" chestnut brown that is durable and classic. I recommend Solid General Construction for any job big or small, his team is professional, friendly and seems to really care that the homeowner is satisfied, and above all shows great pride in his workmanship.

Nick and his crew did an outstanding job on our kitchen remodel. They kept the job site very clean and their work was exceptional. During construction of the kitchen they discovered a plumbing leak below the floor, at which time he gave us a very reasonable quote to fix it. I appreciated Nick's work ethic and honesty. The kitchen came out fabulous. The Solid General Construction crew really knows their stuff! I would definitely recommend the company to all my friends and family. We are very happy with the service provided by Solid General Construction. Even though our work order wasn't extremely urgent he still was able to come out to the house the same day we called. The parts needed for our faucets were custom and not available at Lowes or Home Depot. Nick went the extra mile to remedy this unexpected circumstance. The light fixture was also kind of odd, and the option of replacement was not available, but once again he did a great job to make it function able. Being renters for the first time in years, and accustomed to making decisions without prior approval, this experience was very positive.
