The contractor drew up all the plans, got all the necessary permits, inspections, HOA approvals, and installed the patio cover without a hitch and on-time. I would recommend Vernon and his crew to anyone wanting a patio cover.

** I didn't enter a dollar amount on the work because of all the variability in building a patio to your specs. Your price and mine could be close or vary greatly, so I didn't think it fair to include for patio construction. ** Let me start out by stating that I would use New Dawn Awning again and will refer them to my friends if they're looking to do a patio. Vernon (the owner) was very professional. My wife and I are both I.T. professionals and we're like a couple of engineers. We had the whole patio planned before Vernon's arrival, including mapping it out on graph paper along with about 10 pages of notes and questions for the potential vendors. We had also met with other patio providers beforehand as well, so we were very well prepared - including lots of research on the internet. Vernon arrived on time, and when I started describing what we wanted, he just LISTENED. Yes, he listened - something the other patio companies didn't do. The others were too busy trying to sell you something. After my disertation, Vernon simply said, and quot;Man, you're prepared!!and quot; We went inside to iron out the details, including the pricing right there on the spot. He made a couple of suggestions based on the fact that we wanted four posts instead of the standard five that go with a 44 foot length. We wanted to be able to see our beautiful Italian style fountain unobstructed. This meant that to meet code, we had to have four concrete foundations poured with the posts embedded in the concrete instead of on the surface of our concrete patio. This was an extra cost, but we felt the price for that was fair and equitable. The team arrived on time the first day. In fact, they were early! Good sign in my book. They meticulously measured out where the posts would go, doubled checked with me FIRST (wow, involving the customer - what a concept!!), and then cut 10 inch squares in our concrete patio. They dug out a 30and quot; x 30and quot; hole underneath that in our hard, clay soil. Not an easy task to do, especially since it had to be done by hand!!! I should point out that our backyard is South facing, so the sun, at about 90 degrees hot, was on them the entire day. They didn't complain once, they didn't slow down and even made a team effort of it by rotating the guys. The inspection was next and it passed no problem. Then, the concrete pouring began and ended flawlessly. The concrete had to cure for two days and they were ready to put up the patio! We went with nine foot ceilings outside to match the ceiling height in our house. Typically, the ceiling height is eight feet, but again, no complaining or whining. They just said and quot;No problem!!and quot; They offered me several choices of how to connect one section of the patio cover where I have a gutter for a small section of our tiled roof. We talked about it with Vernon and Steve (his foreman) and decided to remove the gutter rather than the other options. Again, no problem and it meets code. They put in the large square columns we ordered, which are covered with stucco. Beautiful!!! Next, they started putting up the patio cover itself. They were able to bring in all the beams (we ordered larger style beams) and the panels. Not one issue bringing them over the fence by hand. No nicks, scratches or anything. Nothing destroyed in my backyard either. I just had the sitting wall around the fountain redone, but they worked around that and ensured it was not harmed. The panels were put up and the joints to each other and the house were flawless. The installation of an AC outlet at the top of each of the four columns was also done flawlessly and will help us as we intend to put up a lot of outdoor string lights connected to our trees. The choice of the 3and quot; solid cover was our best decision of all. It looked beautiful!!! The final step was installing the fans and fixing up the top of the roof to ensure it was leak-proofed. Again, great job!!! I had asked Vernon about putting up gutter guards, which he did as well. The fans were the last item and proved to be challenging, since each has a separate remote to operate it. But, again, they did it with no issues. They did break the fan glass covering the bulb, but they took off some $$ to replace it. I didn't have to bother them about that, it was the foreman's suggestion!!! Again, great customer service. I would like to thank the entire team. I only remember Vernon and Steve by name, but the other two guys were soooooo hard working as well. OH! Steve even treated my kids to ice cream from the ice cream truck - his idea!!! How great is that?? If you're looking to have a patio cover done, this is the company to go with. The team at New Dawn really knows there stuff and has a LOT of years of experience. We are VERY picky and kind of OCD, so this review was not easy to earn, believe me (ask Vernon, he'll tell you!!). There was actually a bid lower than them, but I went with New Dawn based on Vernon and team's experience and professionalism. I'm glad I did and hope you do too. Thanks for reading! :)

A month before the awning was installed; I went to New Dawn Awning’s website and sent the owner, Vernon Hayes an email requesting a quote for a 14 X 20 patio cover. I also explained in the email that my parents were moving to a new home in Ione (did not have the keys yet) and my father was a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Hayes responded to my email within minutes after I sent it. He gave me a very reasonable quote and then gave an extra discount because my father was a Vietnam Veteran. I was very pleased and decided to use New Dawn Awning to build my parents patio cover. On September 16th, Mr. Hayes came to my parent’s new home in Ione to measure the patio, file out a contract, etc. The reason my parents moved to Ione, was to live near me, my family and after my Father passed away I could take care of my Mother. My father is on Hospice care (Cancer) and was given a few months to live. My father has been fighting Cancer for a year and half. A few days before Mr. Hayes came to our house, we were told my father has approximately a few weeks to live. Mr. Hayes talked to my father during his visit and my father stated to Mr. Hayes he just wants to enjoy his backyard without the heat (the house is located on a golf course). During Mr. Hayes visit he told me it would take approximately 4 weeks to get the supplies and 1 day to install, but he would do what he could to speed up the process for my Father. He wanted my Father to enjoy his backyard before he passed away. On September 17th, Mr. Hayes called me and told me he was very touched by our situation. He was able to get the supplies to build the patio (including an outdoor fan) and he would install the patio the next day (September 18th). My family and I were very happy and I even cried. Mr. Hayes did not know my family, but he is a truly caring person and hard worker. We love the patio, it is beautiful. My Father and I are sitting outside right now as I write this review. We had one other company come out but it felt a bit more like a sales pitch / hard sell, so we went with New Dawn. They had done a lot of work on our subdivision and gave a fair quote. We had a 4 post, 16 x 24 patio cover installed and they also installed 2 ceiling fans and 4 lights that we provided ourselves. They took care of all permits for us. They called us near the day of install and asked us that if they finished a prior job early whether they could come early or not - that worked well for us. On the day of the job - WOW, they were fast (but definitely not sloppy). The crew was a well-oiled team, they just got on with it in near-silence. You could tell that they had done a bunch of these and they each knew exactly what their role was in getting the job done properly and quickly. Very clean, and very responsive to any customer service need. Would definitely recommend!

They were excellent with good quality and pricing. I compared about six different vendors before I chose New Dawn. They have great customer service and I was very pleased with them.

Vern of New Dawn was the first of the four companies that I booked estimates with to come out to look at our job. He seemed knowledgeable and professional. He answered all of our questions on what we could do. We chose his company for the job. They installed the patio covers in a day and it looks great. The installers were clean, helpful, hardworking and did a very good job.

The New Dawn crew arrived at 7:15 am and were done by 11am. They installed the patio cover and cleaned up the area in that time. They were pleasant, neat and clean. That same evening we had a strong wind storm and all was well. We are very pleased with all aspects of our patio cover and it's installation as well as everyone we dealt with at New Dawn Awnings.

The owner, Vernon Hayes, came out and gave me an estimate for an awning over a portion of my patio - nothing huge, basically enough to keep the water off the back door area and enough space for a couple of chairs to provide some shade in the summer. My yard and patio are very small and I didn't want it totally covered. I thought his estimate was reasonable, but it was the first one, so I wanted to get something to compare it to. The second estimate was almost twice the price and the materials didn't have the lifetime warranty that Vern's had, nor a 20 yr. workmanship warranty. The materials on the second estimate would have required regular repainting to maintain it, which is not something I wanted to do. So, I called Vern back and decided I wanted to make a change in the height of the awning and add 2 skylights to it (who knew you could do that??), and add the awning over the bedroom window, which as an extra $350 for the extras. All in all, that total cost was only $1550 for all of that! Scheduling was difficult because Vern's a busy guy, plus sometimes jobs run a little longer than expected, so they they had to start one day later than planned, but I didn't have anything else planned so it worked out OK. Vern and his crew of talented nice guys showed up the evening before 'the big day' and dropped off the materials. The next morning they arrived right on time and (I still can't believe it) they were done with both awnings in about an hour and a half! And both are perfect - exactly what I wanted! I joking told Vern I'd wait to see if they'd hold up before submitting my Angie's List review, then forgot to do it until just now after it had been storming all week - very gusty winds and poring rain. The awnings are attached, no parts flying around the neighborhood - I think it's gonna last :) Three cheers for New Dawn Awning!!

Vernon was very responsive from my very first call to him. He came out and gave me a fair/reasonable bid for a awning over a concrete slab in my back yard. The concrete slab was contoured and he was able to create a beautiful awning to blend with the contours of the concrete and the yard. Also, the color selection was perfect. I had other companies bid on the project and they indicated it would be impossible to construct an awning as I desired. Vernon's company didn't hesitate and came through with a quality product. Vernon was also very adaptable too my last minute decision to add in ceiling fan and light. He went to Home Depot himself and purchased the perfect fan that went with the awning and my existing light fixtures. He sent one of his workers I couldn't have been more pleased with not only his work product, but also his customer service. I would highly recommend Vernon to any of my friends or family in need of a solid and functional awning.

From the very first phone call to New Dawn Awning to the finished project, the experience was one of outstanding satisfaction. Mr. Vernon Hayes, owner, returned my initial telephone call to his office within 24 hours and was able to come over to give me an estimate for a patio cover the same week. When the patio cover was ready to be installed I was notified and not only did they show up on time, they were a half hour early which was a pleasant surprise. All work and all clean up was done in less than 5 hours, and now I have a beautiful patio cover. Mr. Hayes was very helpful in suggesting what would be the best size patio cover for my patio without pressuring me to make the purchase. He showed me pictures of previous jobs that they had done and let me decide exactly what I wanted. He and his workers were very pleasant, very professional, kind, patient and understanding of my questions and concerns. You will not go wrong hiring New Dawn Awning Company.

The initial estimate was accurate, the work was done quickly and for the most part, we are pleased with the workmanship (there were just a couple of small things that I thought could have been done better).
