The price of the unit was really good and they came up with some ideas as far as doing some denting where we could break off the house into zones which has really helped as far as our heating and air conditioning costs. Everything went well. The only issue was there was a rebate and they didn't handle it well. They did provide the rebate out of their own pocket so they made good on the offer. The pricing was very good. I have referred a co-worker to them.
Description of Work: I used Evco Heating & Air Conditioning to put in a new heating/air conditioning unit and they put in some ductwork.

An appointment was made for the work to begin. Evan was slightly late - better to offer a window of time instead of a specific time of arrival! Work was begun immediately. Prior to upgraded heater installation in the hall closet, a wooden platform was built on which the heater would sit. [The previous unit was supported by the walls; a large open space was below the unit.] The original vent allowing for air transfer from outside the closet to the heater was removed and a new one installed. The new vent is designed to hold the filter and now allows me easier access, instead of fumbling with the specific set-up of the previous unit. Both changes were suggestions made by Evan. I never would have thought to do these things. I am extremely happy that those changes were made! The air conditioner unit was also an upgrade. The prior unit sat on the ground nearly directly below a bedroom window. The new unit was set between two bedroom windows to minimize the noise in either bedroom. Again, I would have never thought of doing this. The units could have been installed in a day or day and a half. However, I forgot about a personal appointment that I HAD to attend. Evan adjusted his schedule to accomodate me. As a result, he lost perhaps four hours of work time. He was willing to return that same day in the mid-afternoon to continue working. In fact, Evan stayed until 7'ish in the evening to complete the job. The new heat / a.c. units installed are nearly top of the line. They are very efficient. Neither are noisy enough to interfere with sleep. I had installed a nearly bottom of the line (!) heater / A.C. system in 1998 for $5000+ dollars. The new unit installed by Evan cost considerably less - even considering inflation between 1998 and now. My utility bills are smaller even with increased use of the HVAC. I live in a small duplex (about 1000 sq. ft), so providing how much my bills are would not be useful information for most people. I think that it is important why I chose EVCO to perform the work. When I rented out this current unit and lived in the next door duplex, I needed to remove the vent and ductwork from the garage ceiling. I figured as long as we're at it, let's upgrade the old ductwork. Evan stated that it was not necessary and would be cost prohibitive anyway. He also told me what I needed to do to remove the vent and 'fix' the ductwork to accomplish my goal. (I enjoy doing 'handy man' stuff!) He could have provided misinformation. He could have insisted that only a qualified HVAC person could perform this work (which is not true). In addition, he could have gone ahead with the work and charged me a bundle of money! Instead, he was extremely honest during this initial consultation! That's a nice change from some of the companies I had obtained bids from!
Description of Work: Removed old heater / air conditioner. Installed new heater / air conditioner. No ductwork needed to be done.
