We called Chapman's Legacy Plumbing because he did some work for us a couple of years ago, and we liked his work and he was pleasant and easy to work with. I had done some research online and knew which Toto toilets we wanted to buy. I wasn't sure about the faucets and shower fixtures. Kermit suggested we try Ferguson's Plumbing Supply on Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights, where he does business. I went there and they ordered the toilets and helped me choose fixtures. Because Chapman's plumbing would be doing the work, I received his discount on our purchases. That was a nice surprise. After the toilets, etc, were delivered to Ferguson's, (which only took a couple of days), Kermit and his son picked everything up and brought it to our house, and took the old toilets away. Kermit did most of the work himself, (his son left to do another job). He did excellent work, and was, once again, pleasant and easy to work with. Everything works well, and looks great. We're very happy with the results and would recommend Chapman's Legacy Plumbing to others!
Description of Work: Replaced six Angles, (shut off valves), on three bathroom sinks and six supply lines, and installed three bathroom faucets and bathroom drain assemblies. Removed and replaced two toilets and two toilet supply lines, and installed new tub/shower trim. The total cost included labor and the following materials: 6 angle tops, 8 supply lines,2 wax rings and 1 tub/shower trim set.

They were fabulous!!! showed us where our sinks didn't fit the holes that the granite installers put, didn't fit our sinks so my husband went and got new sinks...H D didn't have any sinks that fit. Then they noticed that the faucets we had didn't fit new sinks so off we went again..during all this they were very nice and helpful. They also installed new accessories under sink and with every thing they totally explained and "showed" us what they were doing and why!!! We were very impressed with what they did! (father & son) Over our 50 yrs. we have had several remodels and additions and These two stand out among many we have worked with!!!!! And they told us about a discount we didn't know about!

I had Chapman's Legacy Plumbing come out to my daughters house to help unclog the sewer line. PERFECT SERVICE. Prompt-Efficient-VERY knowledgeable-just an overall great experience. Used 1st time Angie Users discount to help bring the cost of service down a bit. The clog was a small one so it was quick and easy to clear. I called and spoke with Kermit. He was professional and was able to provide me with an estimate over the phone. We spoke briefly about the problem (leaky valves under bathroom sink) and probable solution (replacement) and he gave me an estimate of $200. The company was courteous and professional, but the estimate was higher than other vendors I spoke with. I ended up using The Plumbing Therapist, who performed the work for $130.

We've now had Legacy Plumbing over for two problems. On the first call in September 2013, they installed a new hot water for us. On the second call, they solved what turned out to be a relatively minor problem with a toilet. In both instances, they returned our calls within a day, made an appointment for the next day, and performed all work as promised. Legacy plumbing is a father-son firm and we have worked with both. They are extremely friendly, quite competent so far as we can see, very much customer oriented. By contrast with past experiences with plumbers, their pricing seems fair. The only reason we gave them a "B" in responsiveness is that they seem to work mostly by cell phone, which means it sometimes takes a bit for them to get back to you. That said, given the quality of their service and their commitment to fair pricing, they are now our "go to" plumbers. In sum, from start to finish, we found their services to be first-rate.

I must say first of all he was a very nice, pleasant fellow. He brought his father to help him because there was a birthday party that day that he had forgot about that he wanted to attend and wanted to get the job done faster. The main problem I called about was the leaky toilet; it seemed to be leaking from the tank to the bowl and dripping onto the floor. I also needed my kitchen drain cleared as it had been stopping up recently. The man worked on my drain and fixed it and his father worked on the leaky toilet. He said (the father) he knew what it was and replaced two rusted screws from inside the toilet and showed me them afterward. They were indeed rusty and needed to be replaced. I also asked him to replace the wax ring while he was there as it had not been replaced in a while. The father told me, "Lady, we are not lifting the toilet." I did not argue, I guess in hindsight I should have been more assertive, after all I was paying for the job. The toilet seemed to be fixed and I was very happy with the job. Then one day a while later (two to three months or so I don't remember exactly) one of my sons came to me and said the lino was discoloring. (I have white lino). It was stained beneath the lino but the the leak seemed to be fixed from the tank to the bowl. I have no idea why it is leaking, maybe the wax ring, I don't know. Anyway, I have a mess still today, The floor will have to be replaced as it is soft now as well as the discolored lino and I will buy a new toilet. This happened months ago and I am still saving to hire another plumber/carpenter who can repair the huge mess. I am a single woman (62) on a single womans pay and it takes me a long time to save up the money. The kitchen sink plug was repaired nicely but the toilet is still leaking. I am definitely not happy with the job on the toilet. I just found the bill.. the cost was $245.

Member, We guarantee all our work and when we pull toilets it’s out policy to replace the wax ring. We replaced the connection point of the tank and bowl, different location form the wax ring at the bottom of the toilet where the toilet meets the floor. We had no idea how long the toilet tank and been leaking, the area you needed repaired, prior to out repair/visit. We had no indication that the leak was coming from the toilet base/floor area thus we did not pull the toilet. Our experience is that floor damage as you describe is something that happens over a long period of time and generally much longer than the time from when the service was performed on March 16, 2013 to the time of your review on Sep. 21, 2013. Also, if you suspected there was an issue we would have been happy to come back out and take a look.

the Angie's List discount of $65.). This time he had tremendous difficulty reconnecting the 2 faucets, the dishwasher, the disposal. He blamed me for not having the proper parts awaiting him to reconnect the items. He made four (4) trips to Lowe's to get parts. I had purchased an AirGap which he had asked me to buy so it would match the new faucet I purchased. I understood that. But that he expected me to have the materials necessary for the connections under the sinks was puzzling and simply outrageous. He told me he was having difficulty because some of the parts were new and some of the parts were old and, therefore, they did not fit each other. I did not understand why he did not make a list of all the materials he would need before his first trip to Lowe's and then buy them all at once. Also, after his first job here 2 weeks ago, he told me that any parts he might need (other than the Air Gap) he would likely carry in his truck. He rides around in a large truck with Chapman's Legacy Plumbing printed on the sides. After working from 8:30am to approximately 1pm for what I thought was going to be a routine plumbing job, he gave me a bill for $634.27!! I asked him for receipts for the items purchased at Lowe's. He said he could not give them to me because he needed them. I said I just wanted to read them not keep them. He admitted that he usually charges customers 50% more than what the retail stores charge him but that he was only charging me 30% more!! OF COURSE, I NOTICED THAT LOWE'S CHARGED HIM TAX ON THE ITEMS HE WAS CHARGING ME FOR. PLUS HE WAS CHARGING ME A 30% MARK-UP ON THE TOTAL, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION. I SAID TO HIM THAT HE WAS CHARGING ME AN ADDITIONAL $16.98 TAX ON THE ITEMS THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN TAXED BY LOWE'S. THEREFORE, HE WAS CHARGING ME DOUBLE TAX!! AFTER SOME DISCUSSION AND I TOLD HIM I WAS AN ATTORNEY, HE SAID 'OKAY, TAKE OFF THE $16.98.' He also charged me $405.00 in labor. He said he only charged me for 2 hours of labor even though he spent more time at my home ( and traveling to and from Lowe's, of course). When I went to read the contract, he said it was just 'legal mumbo-jumbo.' At that point I told him I was a lawyer and he got a little nervous. And rightly so. In my opinion, the man is a crook. The alternative scenario is that I am a single woman. If you are a single woman, stay away from this man. IN MY OPINION, iF YOU WANT SOMEONE WHO NOT ONLY CAN DO THE WORK BUT ALSO CHARGES A FAIR PRICE, AND DOES NOT BLAME YOU FOR NOT HAVING THE PROPER TOOLS OF HIS TRADE AVAILABLE FOR HIM TO USE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. This was an expensive lesson. I would take him to small claims court but I am recovering from surgery and the aggravation is not worth it.
Description of Work: Kermit Chapman, Owner, was here 2 weeks ago to disconnect the 2 kitchen sinks (one large, one vegetable sink), the dishwasher and the garbage disposal. He also unhooked the electric cooktop. He returned today - after Lowe's installed granite countertops. Today he reconnected the 2 sinks, installed one new faucet and one used faucet, reconnected the dishwasher and reinstalled the garbage disposal. The first time he was here he worked swiftly and charged me $195.00 ($260 for 2 hours of labor minus

It took about one and half weeks to get a return call from Chapman's but from then he was pretty timely in his response. He went to my house to measure for a pipe to run outside the perimeter of my house (because I was already told by two other plumbers that it would be cost prohibitive to try to run a gas line inside the walls of my house and there was no attic space to do so either). I was not present when he arrived, but my adult son was home when he came to measure and told me that he was only there for about 5 minutes - so not sure if he actually measured. After another 3 days, he emailed me a quote was more than twice other quotes that I received from other licensed and bonded plumbers. Part of his quote included cutting into my concrete and repairing it when finished - I would think that would add a lot to the cost. The other quotes that I received were going to run the pipe up and under the eves of my roof which I would prefer to tearing up my concrete walkway/patio. In Chapman's defense, I think the quote would have been much lower if I had been present to explain that to him. But then again, he didn't call me to ask me once he saw the setup of my house. Chapman's was very polite and professional over the phone and via text massaging. We never met in person, and I did not use him for the work due to the very high quote. I would recommend meeting him in person so that you can discuss what you have in mind and the options for achieving the result that you expect in order to get a better price quote.

Member, Thanks for giving us the opportunity to bid the work you needed. I believe we bid different work than the other two plumbers you received quotes from. Getting multiple quotes for a job like this is a very good idea for any home/property owner. We bid our jobs according to the local building code and so that when/if inspected by a Code/Licensing representative our work will pass. Again, I think we had intended on doing the job differently than the others you requested quotes from. Thank you for your time and review, please don't hesitate to call us in the future should you need any plumbing work. We will try very hard to beat our competitors’ prices/quotes.

My first experience was over 5 years ago. I have a restaurant. The hand sinks were slow to drain. I was leaving town the next day and needed them rootered out that day. I called one of the large companies in the phone book but they "didn't have anyone who could come out". I called Legacy Plumbing and Russell was out in an hour. I have used them probably 10 times over the past 5 years and either Kermit or Russell will be out when they say (usually within hours if needed). They are easy to work with, punctual, and professional. When it comes to "service people", it's great to know there are businesses you can depend on and make your first call.

Thanks very much for taking time to write a review.

I contacted them via email about 9:30 Thursday evening. They called back on the phone at 10pm and I described what I wanted done. I then emailed them a photo of the water line and valves into the house. They gave me a quote of $450 the next day via email. I responded with an approval and asked that it be done any afternoon the following week. Kermit called me about 2:00 on Wed of the following week and said they could be out in an hour to do the job. Russell arrived about 3:00, removed the old valve and installed the two new valves, and hooked up my sprinkler line to the new valve setup. This took until about 5:00. When the water was turned back on, they discovered a very slow leak in one of the plastic connectors. They came out the next morning and fixed that (the leak was so small that it was OK to leave it dripping over night). Very happy with the job
Description of Work: Chapman's changed the single valve for the water supply coming into my house into two valves - one for the house and one for my sprinkler system. This allows me to turn off water to the house while we're on vacation and still have the sprinklers running.

Response from Chapman's Legacy Plumbing
Member, glad you had a good experience with our company. Also glad you were able to communicate with us via e-mail, seeing what is needed is a really good thing and your photo did just that. Having two separate shut offs is a very good thing and to your point being able to shut off the house water while on vacation is very smart. Pipes burst all the time, and if you’re not home when one does it usually results in a very costly mess. Thanks for your time to post a review, we'll be here ready when/if you need us again.
