+ -1 moreThere was a miscommunication on the first appointment. I waited for them at the house and thought they were a no show. They came the next day but I was not there. They called me to make sure they are at the correct address, which they were. However, at that point I can't be at the house so we agreed on the following day. The person who came out on the second day was punctuate. He was very up front about how he cannot help me with what I need done (leveling floor where there is a fireplace). I asked for some other estimates on painting etc. but he politely indicated that I would have been better off finding painters etc. on Angie's List for those works. I appreciate his time and suggestion. I must admit that I am surprised that they cannot do what I requested when they can build a building. Nevertheless, Sol Construction was very professional in handling the miscommunication on the appointment date and giving recommendations that I will certainly consider working with them in the future.

+ -1 moreAaron Mitchell the owner of Sol Construction is very professional and knowledgeable with all types on construction. We have a balcony that the railings needed to be replaced every 4 years because of out proximity to the ocean. Instead of doing this again I contacted Aaron to explore long term solutions to this problem. We decided to tear up the existing deck and replace with new plywood and a concrete surface. After exploring several options for the rail system we decided to go with glass and powder coated metal to prevent any future problems. Aaron showed me several options and what was required to be up to code. Everything came out great, I am very happy with Sol Construction and will definitely use them for future projects.

Due to previously planned travel, we had to work through an agreeable time to begin the project, so upon returning home, I e-mailed Josh and they agreed to start construction the next week. This was a relatively short job, estimated to take two (2) days to complete. The two individuals who actually did our work were excellent. Very personable, always explaining what they were going to do and how they were going to do it. Offered suggestions on how to improve the finished look of the project, without jacking up the cost. They arrived on time each day and left the house in excellent condition at the end of each work day. The highest praise I can give a company is that I was very pleased and I'd use them again. That is certainly how I feel about Sol Construction

+ 0 moreCommunication with Aaron and his crew was very easy. Aaron is very accommodating and easily accessible through text, email, and phone call. I am a bit embarrassed to write this because I may sound crazy, but I saw 14 other window installers/general contractors. All the other companies that I have interviewed for the job were either people I did not trust, did not even give me bids, did not have any referrals, their price was unreasonable, or a combination of the issues listed. I chose Sol Construction based on Aaron's knowledge, fair price, his open communication, and his ability to provide references. One of the references he provided me even let me come over to their home to check out his work, which was indeed good work. The work that was done at my home was permitted, and took a week from start to finish. I was sick with a sinus infection and had a high fever of 101 F at the same time of the installation, and I am so blessed to have Sol Construction work on this project for me. The week went very smooth, passed every inspection, and they did great work. I am having them bid on my bathroom remodel next. I will write another review once things are finalized. + 1 moreJosh did an excellent job in the demo and finishing of my garage. In addition, all the work I had requested was completed in a timely manner. Josh was professional and any questions I had, he answered and discussed fully with me. The subcontractors he used were professional and took the time to discuss the best way to complete the project (for example where would be the best location for the lighting). After the completion of the project, I had a few things I wanted changed. Josh responded quickly to my call and had the work completed for me by the next day. I would highly recommend Josh and his crew. In addition, his bid for the job was a few thousand dollars less than another bid I had received.
Description of Work: Demolition of all cabinets, plywood, counter tops in garage and hauled debris to dump. Placed additional ceiling joists to reinforce roof of garage. Placed 8 recessed lights, updated plugs and switches and wired motion detector. Drywall hung, taped and sanded to smooth finish.

+ 0 moreMy husband and I selected "SOL Construction" because it reflected high praise from your web site. Aaron promptly met with us the same day that we called him. He was very helpful with suggestions and wanted to help us stay within our small budget. He gave us web sites to search and stores to shop in to help us make fixture and design decisions. When the work actually began we were amazed at how quickly his crew got things done. They were so careful to not damage anything that was not part of the renovation. Every crew member was very thorough to clean up their mess at the end of every work day. That was important to me. There were a couple of misunderstandings but corrections were made and the work was done beautifully and promptly. My husband and I have never worked with a contractor of this caliber and we are very pleased !

+ 3 moreFrom the first conversation and meeting with Aaron (co-owner) to the ongoing meetings and communications with Josh (co-owner) and the entire crew, the experience was aw esome. We had an awful mess to begin with. We needed work inside the house and outside the house over a two week period. All of the guys were wonderful, including about keeping our "escape artist" dog from getting away and also in keeping the disruption to our lives to a minimum. The job kept evolving as we discovered more areas of leaking and yet despite that, the communications and time frame totally stayed on track! They worked with us in terms of the look and design of this design-build situation for what turned out to be the need for an entire new balcony because of the visible extensive and unrepairable damage to the old balcony. I complimented Josh many times on his leadership in the field because of how his guys/ crews communicated with each other. The crews really enjoy their work and support each other. I never heard one cross word or criticism from one guy to another. That was such a pleasure! I also recognized the benefits of working with the three brothers in the business: Josh, Joe and John. I already started a new job with them at a different location, once again, beginning with Aaron, and it is starting off on the right foot as well. They are professionals in every way. I whole-heartedly recommend Sol Construction.

I couldn't be happier with the results, as well as with the overall experience (fair price, punctual, cleaned up each day, great attention to detail). Compared to other remodels I've had, Aaron and Josh go above and beyond to ensure that all your needs are met and requests are carried out. They are very professional, reliable, and maintain high standards. I was always kept apprised of what time they would be coming and what they would be doing that day (never left me hanging). Very easy to get a hold of; if they don't answer right away, they will return your call within minutes. When it comes time to re-do my kitchen and other bathroom, I will go through them. If you want a hassle-free, high-quality remodel, you can't do better.

+ -1 moreGreat company! We are planning to do a kitchen remodel next summer. Even though our date is far off, Aaron met with us and did a great job working with us to design a new kitchen that met our aesthetics without breaking our budget. While we haven't actually started on the kitchen, we decided to go ahead and get all of the windows in the house replaced; the ones we had were original to the house (1950's, single pane). Aaron and his crew did an amazing job - did the entire house in a weekend. When they were done you couldn't tell they had been there (except for the gorgeous new windows!) - no mess at all! One window came cracked, and Aaron was right on it and found us a perfect one within days. We will surely be using them when we tackle the kitchen.

+ -1 moreThe finished product turned out great overall. Looks like it was always there. They took care to clean up after themselves. We did have a minor issue with the new door not shutting properly and a gaping hole in the bottom of the door. However Josh came back out and made everything right.
Description of Work: Our project was to turn our loft into a bedroom. This involved building in a new closet with sliding doors, adding a door/door frame and filling in wall above the door. We also had a new light fixture installed, and some outlets moved and added. Job included drywall and texture, but not paint.

Description of Work: The living room and dining room were contaminated with mold. After the mold remediators tore the walls down, I hired Sol Construction to replace the drywall and finish the rooms again.They were very professional and did an excellent job replacing all the missing walls.They were very helpful with ideas and completed the job swiftly.They gave cost estimates for other parts of the work from other companies that they knew.I chose to use others I found on Angie's List but it helped a lot. Very good company to work with and when finished you would never know anything had happened.

+ -1 moreThe crew arrived promptly at 8:00 AM. They quickly unloaded their equipment, took verified measurements and discussed the gameplan with their foreman. While the crew was demolishing, the foreman went to get the necessary supplies for the job. The crew were efficient during the demolition phase and worked well together. After the supplies arrived the crew quickly began work on reconstructing a new eave, salvaging my existing gutter and sealing the edge of the roof.
Description of Work: I had an eave on the side of my house trimmed back bringing it closer to the edge of the house.

+ -1 moreThis review is a LONG time coming! Aaron and his guys are great to work with and always very professional. They completed all the work in a speedy manner and we always felt that Aaron was upfront with the cost even if they were not the lowest. Too many other companies gave quotes that seemed unrealistic and like they were just pulling an imaginary number out of thin air which made us very uncomfortable. Aaron had a VERY detailed estimate and we could see exactly where all the charges were coming from. One year later we are so happy with the work they did and haven't had a single problem. We will definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Sol Construction to remodel the front half of our home last year. The project entailed building a HUGE patio cover, tearing down two walls, installing French doors and building a custom storage cabinet/ room divider.

+ 0 moreThis is the first time we are having them do any work. We are absolutely and totally happy with everything. We are totally satisfied. They are trust worthy and really nice. They will be back tomorrow to finish the drywall and then we will be done. They are going to come tomorrow and take care of the electricity and touch up the dry wall that needs to be touched up from where they had removed a part of the wall. Their price is better than anybody that we have got an estimate from. One of the estimates that we had got was more by $2,000 for the same thing. We totally like them. The first time we talked to them they were friendly. When they came out to give the estimate it was like an old friend coming in. They were really nice and very personable. They were very nice people. They are clean and everything was cleaned up. They are actually putting all the stuff in the trailer now and taking them away. We don’t have to worry about sweeping or anything. They covered stuff so that it wouldn’t get messed up. We are really pleased with them. They gave us a good price. Their prices are the best. We are very happy. They were great. They got here when they said they would, everything is clean and neat. The owner and the partner came out. They got everything started. When we meet them and talk to them they feel like they are family.

Description of Work: Selected this company from a number that I interviewed based on my premise that they would be able to complete a somewhat challenging project to my satisfaction, which they did. My only actual contact was with Aaron Mitchell. Aaron was consistently reliable and promptly communicative about everything as the project(s) went along. The job consisted of adding a fireplace to our living room and totally converting a bedroom/bath into an office/closet. This all had to be done without my ever being on-site since we were still living out of state at the time the work was being done.

I went back and forth negotiating a price and I kept changing what I wanted done. He was very patient. Project was delayed because the tiles I wanted were on backorder and when they finally started it was very easy. Josh would come by in the morning to look over the work or do some of the work and let us know what they were going to do that day and answer any questions I had. He was also very patient with me. One example was I wasn't too happy with how the tub was going to look and Josh rebuilt it. They worked as quiet as they can and cleaned up after themselves each day. I'm very happy with the result and would definitely use them again for future projects.

+ 1 moreI contacted Sol Construction for the quote, Aaron was punctual and courteous showing up for the estimate on time. I recieved his bid via E-mail and, after reviewing the bid, contacted him to award the job. At that time, we scheduled the start time, and estimated completion time. His crew showed up on time, seemed well organized. The job was done in an effecient and timely manner. The entire worksite was left clean and neat when the job was done. The actual work was done very well, the mitre joints and the compound cuts matched perfectly and mated with the original trim. Overall, I was very pleased with the work performed. Aaron scheduled a follow-up to go over the work done and wanted to make sure we were happy with the job. I would definitely consider Sol Construction for additional work.
Description of Work: This job entailed removal and replacement of the Facia on the entire rear of the house. The old Facia had dry-rotted and was falling apart where a patio cover had been attached.

Things I liked 1. They were on-time and polite. 2. They tried to make the first set of doors work but I couldnt live with them (no fault of Sol). The second set are great. 3. The stucco work was great. 4. They cleaned up and left things just as we agreed.

+ 2 moreSol's bid was good, slightly higher than the lowest, the work was done very well, on time with very good communication and punctuallity. If you are an absolute perfectionist they required some supervision, overall I would rate them very high and definitly plan to use them again.

But Aaron seemed to be the most knowledgeable for this project and was straightforward about what he can do for you (not the case with some of the other guys). This company was great to work with. We talked things out and Aaron was receptive to listening to my thoughts and ideas. Aaron has been very responsive from the beginning to end through emails and phone calls. He was upfront with his pricing and itemized the work that was to be done in his proposal. Our project amount, after all said and done, hit exactly what was quoted. They took care of pulling the City permit and sat waiting on certain days for the city inspectors to approve each step that needed signing off. The guys that they hire are very professional and did quality work. Any problems that did arise, they took care of it to my satisfaction. They cleaned up fairly well after each day's work and put their equipment and tools off to the side to give us good access and a clean look. At the end, Aaron himself came to inspect and close out the project. Any final touches I pointed out to him, he personally took care of it. These guys are the best and they stand behind the quality of their work. You won't go wrong having them do your project.
Description of Work: We decided to convert a outdoor covered loggia area (160 sqft) in our courtyard into an indoor/ outdoor room connected to our house. We were looking to do this by installing bi-folding glass panel doors that can shelter us from the weather when closed and enjoy our outdoor courtyard when opened. Aaron (co-owner) came out to look at my project. He educated me on bi-folding doors and the different types of material available. He gave me several options of companies that manufactured this kind of door. I did my research on the internet about these companies and the doors. Ultimately, I chose the door company La Cantina that Aaron suggested because of their quality product. But he did not push this company on me. He just gave me the information and his professional opinion and let me make the decision. The project is now done and I am very happy I chose this door. The project included both Sol Construction and La Cantina coming out to measure the dimensions for my doors. We had to custom order the doors to fit the opening. They did demolition of our outdoor stucco walls and later they put up drywall and painted the walls and doors. The preparation for the bi-fold door needed wood framing. The delivery of bi-folding doors took about 6 weeks after ordering. There was an delay but Aaron always kept me up to date on the status. The installation was done in one day. After installation of the door, they worked on the exterior stucco and made everything look to match the rest of my house including some foam trim around the door. The painting was done inside and outside. I got to pick the paint and even color matched our house colors interior and exterior. Finally we put down wood flooring. Aaron picked out some hardwood samples to show us but we decided to go and purchase our own engineered hardwood and Sol Construction installed it. They were also very accomodating to our little needs. I asked for a couple of extra electrical GFI outlets to be installed in the walls in our original proposal. Josh took care of doing the wiring and hooking up the outlets.
