During a prior visit, when the contractor, Dave Willis, performed drywall repairs, I was very impressed with the quaIity of the work he had done. We got to discussing other things I needed/wanted to do. I'd already contracted with another provider to paint the living and dining rooms; Dave noted that they would have to do prep work on walls and around windows, which I knew. Based on the excellent job Dave had previously done, I hired him to do the prep work. He quoted a fair price and he and his partner, Tom, completed the work before the painters came. I was very pleased, again, with the quality of their work and their pride in doing a good job. I was considering replacing the carpeting, which went through the entire house, with hardwood or laminate flooring. Dave had a suggestion as to the best place, in his experience, to buy this: Floor & Decor in Santa Ana. I listened to his opinions and suggestions. My late husband was a remodeling contractor, so I was familiar with what we were discussing and, again, I was impressed by Dave's suggestions as I knew them to be logical and professional. I asked him to give me a bid on what it would cost to do the flooring, and when he would be able to do it. In order to completely redo the home's flooring, it would be necessary to paint all the bedrooms first. In an effort to save money, I had intended to do that painting myself. This would, of necessity, require putting off reflooring the bedrooms until that was done. Unfortunately, I had injured my knee and had had a recent operation, which left me less than 100%. Dave quoted me a very fair price to do the painting, thus allowing them to complete the flooring as one job. (And I didn't have to paint!) He also suggested changing the quarter-round baseboards to match the existing crown molding--and it looks great. I took Dave's suggestions regarding paint colors, baseboard molding and flooring--and I don't regret one decision. Dave and Tom were punctual and professional, and fun to have around. It was a pleasure to have them do this work. I would recommend them highly. These two can do it all.
Description of Work: Did pre-painting prep work in living room, dining room and hall. Met me at vendor to select flooring and underlayment. Removed old carpeting and padding and replaced them with laminate flooring in living room, dining room, hall and three bedrooms. Rather than place the flooring strips randomly, they lined them up so that seams follow a pattern. Very nice. Also, took special care with flooring around slate fireplace hearth, requiring them to grind down the uneven hearth facing where it meets the floor. Replaced old quarter-round baseboard molding with a wider style that compliments the existing crown molding. Made suggestions, which I took, as to paint colors for entire house. Moved and replaced heavy furniture. Sanded doors and other surfaces before painting the three bedrooms. Removed and replaced curtain rods. Installed new heavy-duty drapery rods for new grommet drapes. Repaired garage-door spring, a door that wouldn't lock and one that wouldn't open. (Because they bugged Dave.) Cleaned up every day.
