Pro-Tech Chimney Sweep

Honest and knew what they were doing. I highly recommend. Called a competitor that has been in the business for many years and wanted me to tear done my chimney and replace it. Needless to say that would have been very costly. The inspector said that there was a fire in my attic at what time. Protech went up in my attic and let me know it wasn't a fire but black paint. I'm glad that I got a second opinion.

We bought the house 8 years ago and were told by the home inspector that the chimney was unsafe and unstable due to a horizontal crack near the base of the exterior brick. He estimated it would cost nearly $10,000 to repair. Proceed to 2015 and we were selling this house, never having the chimney repaired. John and Dan came out the next day and completed an inspection of the entire chimney. Dan saw the horizontal crack and said these cracks were very common. He also saw a vertical crack near the top of the chimney. Again, very common. John reassured us that the cracks were cosmetic in nature, caused by the penny rebar expanding due to rusting. John provided an estimate of $1200 to repair these two cracks, and repair several other small cracks in the interior of the chimney. John also said we needed to have a new chimney cap. I called them for the repairs and they came out two days later. The repairs were completed in half a day. John was honest with his repairs. John could have told us that we needed extensive chimney repair and we would have believed him based upon what the previous inspector told us. If you want an honest opinion on your chimney condition, I'd give John a call. He mentioned how several people he came across were told by some other chimney repair companies they had to have complete chimney replacement after some of our earthquakes when all they needed were simple repairs. My chimney would have cost over $30,000 to replace! Don't be fooled by other companies. Give John a call.
