Paul Trujillo Painting gave us a quote. He is out of our range right now and that is the only reason we won't go with him. He was very professional. He was honest and upfront about his schedule being busy. That being said, he always met his time when he said he could and was on time. It was just hard to get him to come out. He was brief but to the point and will give you a number so you know what you are looking at.

I have been using Paul as my painter for at least ten years now. He was recommended to me by my niece. What a find!! He is a second-generation painter and learned the business at his father's knee. He is good, honest and even nice. On one occasion I was having landscaping done while Paul was prepping my house for paint and when my landscape contractor saw how thoroughly he prepped for painting, he asked for Paul's name so he could use him himself! It kills me when I see some of our neighbors getting their houses painted and a crew comes in and pressure washes and another comes and sprays like crazy and in a week they are packed up and gone. Paul will still be prepping for weeks, but then, his paint job will last, and the other guys' job will be peeling in a year and a half. I'm so glad we found Paul. It is so hard to find any kind of contractor who has a good knowledge base as well as an old fashioned work ethic. If you use Paul, I don't think you will be sorry. You may find a cheaper painter, but I doubt you will find a better painter.
Description of Work: About the price, I honestly don't remember the exact amount without looking up old invoices, but we're in the ball park here with $5-7000. Prepped, repaired, primed and painted exterior of approx 3500 sq ft. single story house with many wood french doors and windows and 1500 sq ft. detached garage. Price included all materials and paint and labor. Paul is very up-to-date on new products. He is a professional painter, and that means he makes it his business to know everyhting new that is out there and how well it works. I trust him and his work. He spends weeks preparing to paint: sanding, filling, sanding more, scraping, priming. The last step is painting.

Paul looked at the job, did some calculations and gave us a bid for the job. We scheduled when the work would be done. This was not the first time we had hired Paul, so we knew what to expect. He removed the door hardware, prepped the area, covering nail holes etc. He hung a tent of heavy plastic, both inside and out and laid down drop cloths so the area would be kept clean and contained. He sprayed several coats over the primer and the result is a smooth finish that almost looks like a fine smooth furniture finish, yet is hard and durable. The basic hardware (door handle and lock) went on as soon as the paint was dry, but the weather stripping and other trim pieces will be completed today after the paint has had a chance to get completely dry and set up hard. During this same visit, Paul and his apprentice, Brent, also painted out some solid oak baseboards that had been finished in a honey oak color. This involved moving some furniture, laying drop cloths, taping up the area, caulking the crack between the base and the wall and sanding, priming and painting two coats. When finished, they cleaned up the area and replaced the furniture. Paul has over twenty years experience, and he has been doing our painting for about ten years. He is a second generation painter who was taught by his dad. He has painted our 60's ranch style home, inside and out, several times over the years. Paul has a solid work ethic that is uncommon, and so very welcome. Though the concrete outside the new french door is old and cracked and the carpet inside will be replaced soon, Paul took the same attention protecting it as he would have if it had been new, because that is the way the job should be done! His attention to detail is remarkable. I have had some terrible painters over the years. Thank God, I am finished with them! Paul is a personable and trustworthy professional and I am really happy to have found him and to be able to recommend him to others. It is possible you will find a painter who is cheaper than Paul. But, I do not believe you will find someone who will use the same quality materials and who will bring the same expertise and will produce the same quality work for less. Paul takes pride in his work and truly, his work is deserving of pride. If you want an excellent job at a fair price, I believe you will not be disappointed with Paul Trujillo.
Description of Work: Paul primed and painted a set of new wood french doors, inside and out. He also primed and painted 5 inch solid oak baseboards in the entry, family room and kitchen that had previously been stained a medium oak color.
