Approximately 5 weeks later, I called him and asked him the status for the estimate/proposal. He said he was very busy and apologized for forgetting about me. Gave me a written proposal/estimate a day later. Nice man but due to the inattention, not using this company for the work. I mean, if they forget about an estimate, what else will they forget about? I've heard they do good work but personally, I was put off by the lack of contact.
Description of Work: Mr. David McNutt came by in early November for an estimate. Professional, friendly and punctual. He went on the roof and ostensibly made measurements. We talked about the roof and what was needed ensure leak proof status. He said he would let me know the final written proposal soon.

Daivd McNutt (the name says it all) provided a hand written estimate for roof repairs. For the detail of work, I was expecting a typed out formal estimate. When I asked about needing a building permit, I starting getting the "round around" and in my opinion was lied to about the requirement. In the end, McNutt wanted me to get the permit if I wanted one. If the owner gets the permit and not the contractor, I was told by the city that the owner is liable for the work and not the contractor. The conversation with McNutt ending with him stating that I asked too many questions and then he hung up on me.

Response from GALLA-RINI ROOFING
This member gave us the go ahead with the project and signed our “handwritten contract” for a small repair project. We do use handwritten contracts for small repair projects in the field like an electrician or plumber would do. After agreeing to our contract, he sent an addendum of his own. In that addendum he wanted Galla-Rini Roofing to extend the warranty (which wasn’t included in the contract price). He also changed our payment terms and other minor items that we would not agree to. The City of Irvine does not require a building permit for small repairs. With regards to my salesman, David McNutt, he is a man of integrity. It sounds like David and the member did not get off on the right foot, however I don’t feel it was appropriate to make fun of his name. We always attempt to reconcile any disagreements with customers, however I don’t think that is possible here. I am sorry it didn’t work out. Sincerely, Miles Galla-Rini, owner of Galla-Rini Roofing
