They did a great job. They were very reasonable in price and removed all the cement as well. It took 5 days for them to get the job done and they worked really hard. It took at least 10 dump trucks to remove all the debris. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They came in and removed a 40,000 gallon pool in our back yard.

On the the third call, I got a secretary and apparently she also didn't relay the message to the owner Dave Frisch. If this is how they conduct business, then I'll bring my money elsewhere. It's unfortunate for them that this type of business is word of mouth, and they have now a reputation that precedes them. I am back at Angie's List to find another contractor who does want to work.
Description of Work: Contractor never returned or provided a courtesy call left on 3 messages; first one last year, second 6/24/12, and thirdly 7/1/13.

Dave Frisch is one of the most unprofessional contractors I have ever dealt with. I had contacted him regarding a pool demo. He gave us a quote (which was significantly lower than any other quote, almost half as low as the next lowest quote). I arranged to meet him at the property (we weren't living there yet) to go over it. I arrived 5 minutes early, and waited for half an hour. I called him to make sure everything was ok, at which point he was very rude. I asked if he was on his way and he stated he had been to my house, waited for me then left. I asked if he had been there, why didn't he give me a call prior to leaving? I tried to ask him what time ( I even double checked my email to make sure I had the right time, which I did), because I had been home, but he wouldn't answer, said he was too busy to deal with me, and maybe if he had time later, he would stop by. I told him not to bother, because I had no desire to work with someone with that type of attitude. I later got about 10 estimates, and his was $5000 lower than the next lowest. We had access issues that drove up the cost of the job, and every other contractor spent a lot of time measuring the access and figuring out how to best handle it. I think his quote was low because he did not take this into account, but I feel that he would have soon realized that it was a tricky job and either bailed or jacked up my bill. I guess business is good for him, because he feels no need to provide any customer service. I am so glad I saw his true colors before hiring him.

After I began the remodel of my pool, I found out that my swimming pool had been constructed so poorly that I would need a custom exo-cage-type structure installed and the pool rebuilt from scratch. The cost was too much for me, so I called Dave Frisch who had previously been referred to me by American Leak Detection. Dave was very sympathetic and came out right away to give me an estimate to demo and fill in my pool. My decking and the surrounding concrete was significantly cracked, so I decided to have that removed as well. I had a low area from where concrete had previously been removed, and Dave agreed to fill in that area and then grade the entire yard once the demolition and additional soil was added. I also needed to have the block wall at the entry gate knocked down since the adjoining wall was angled in such a way that it was impossible to get any type of equipment through. In addition, they removed a low wall at the front of my property and diamond saw cut the concrete for a nice clean edge. Dave’s price was very fair and his workers have been with him for many years and have significant experience, so we began the project. They arrived early in the morning and only stopped the work each day for a short lunch break. Fill dirt was delivered to the front of my property but they cleaned up the entire front of my house at the end of each day. I was concerned about the concrete connected to my stucco walls coming off, but everything went fine. The compaction was performed using a large machine so that there will be no issue of “sinking” in the future. The demo was just completed and Dave made good on everything he promised me. I have found other contractors during the consultation will make promises that somehow get forgotten when the project is complete. There was one problem with the quality of the fill dirt that was the fault of the supplier, but Dave was very responsive and showed great integrity by immediately remedying the problem and at his own expense. He genuinely cared that I was satisfied with the end result, which I was. I can confidently and wholeheartedly recommend this company.
Description of Work: 1. Cap all pool connections (gas, electric, water) 2. Remove all pool equipment/fixtures 3. Demo (2) 4'x4' drain holes in pool floor 4. Demo pool walls (24") below finish grade 5. Backfill existing pool with compaction 6. Demo/haul all back concrete decking (800sf) 4 loads out 7. Grade backyard areas to drain to front 8. Sawcut/demo block wall (for access) 9. Permits included

It went very, very well! The crew arrived on-time (and early) each day and worked quickly and steadily. They were very friendly and always willing to explain what they were doing and why, and to answer any questions I had. I was very surpised and pleased when Mr. Frisch came to my door one morning and announced that they were fnished. It was much quicker and pain-free than I expected. My only concern was that they left a lot of and quot;extraand quot; dirt that I had to get rid of.
Description of Work: Mr. Frisch first came to my home to see the pool and spa that I wanted to have filled-in. He asked a number of questions and told me about the alternatives. I decided to have the pool and spa filled rather than completely removed so that a subsequent owner could restore them if he wished. I was given a price and accepted it immediately. Because of the rain, the job was not done until the latter part of December, but Mr. Frisch keept in touch. Then, one day after the rain stopped I got a call informing me that the job was to begin the next day. The first day was devoted to preparation - draining the pool and spa, removing a few plants, setting up the electrical equipment, etc.. The workers arrived on time (about 8 am) and started to work right away. They took care of the preparation chores while the water was draining from the pool and spa. The following day they cut the 3' openings in the bottom of the pool and spa for drainage, delivered the dirt, equipment, etc. and set-up so as to begin early the next morning. A small Bobcat was used to take the dirt from the front of my home to the pool. They alternated putting dirt into the pool and a tamping the dirt down. This took a couple of days to finish. When the work was completed, they put things back in place and did a general clean-up. I have a duplex which meant that the gate to the back- yard and a section of fence had to be removed so the Bobcat could get to the backyard. Some plants in the front and back yards also had to be tied-back or removed, and a couple of sprinklers in the backyard had to be capped below ground level since they were in the Bobcat's path. I suspect there was more preparation required than is typical because of the small space leading to my backyard.

David came out for an estimate while I was still in escrow on the house. I told him my approximate closing date and when I would like to have the pool removed. I called after closing to make the appointment and he told me I was already on the schedule. He came out a few days before demolition to go over how much decking I wanted removed and to drain the pool. His crew arrived on schedule and began work. It was completed within 3 days. They obtained all necessary permits and compaction reports. There was a section of pool wall that I wanted taken down more and they accommodated me on the spot. Since the existing decking was old, there were many existing cracks that were hard to work with (I wanted only a portion of the decking removed) so when a small area of decking was accidentially removed that I had wanted to keep, the crew filled it in with new concrete. I didn't even have to ask. I am so glad I had the old pool removed - David and his team did a great job.
Description of Work: Demolition/removal of pool, pool equipment, slide and decking. The old pool/decking area was filled in with soil. All appropriate utility lines were capped. Permits and compaction reports were obtained.

Dave was great to work with - he was extremely punctual from the appt for the estimate to the day the job was done. His crew cleaned up and left the backyard in better shape than when they showed up.
Description of Work: Dave & Co filled in an in-ground spa and removed all equipment (heater, plumbing, electrical) and the structure that housed it all.

Dave Frisch came promptly every time, from day of estimate to start day and completion. He pulled the permit; another company I called wanted me to do that, and told me I would have to pay $900 for the Engineer to do the Perc Test following demo and fill. Dave included that service in his price, and still came in lower. He is cheerful, treats his crew well, displayed good relations with other contractors (electrical repair; delivery of fill dirt; Engineer). There was no cursing, no loud music, no suggestive comments displayed on t-shirts. There was considerable laughing, however--a very good sign. He is a gentleman and treats others the same way. All in all, an excellent experience, and I have recommended Frisch and Sons to others, and to our local newspaper. I really can't say enough good things about his professionalism and a job well done.
Description of Work: Demolition and partial removal of 20' x 40' inground swimming pool. All work done according to code and permit: holes punctured in bottom and sides of pool every two feet to permit drainage over time. Pool sides demolished down several feet from top, as required. Demolished pool filled in, and fill compacted. Civil Engineer performed inspection and Percolation Test following fill. Passed with flying colors, exceeding requirements. Entire project took one week, exactly as promised. In fact, everything was done as promised. PLEASE NOTE: YOU NEED TO INCLUDE "DEMOLITION" IN YOUR CATEGORIES. I TRIED TO DO THIS, BUT COULD NOT. THANKS.
