They were excellent. Unluckily for them but luckly for me, I had so many issues in the house. One thing after another and they covered so many things. Due to so many claims they didn?t want to renew their membership.

It was cleared BUT....I have been with First American Home Warranty for years and the service was spotty, occasionally ontime and it was a BATTLE to cover ANYTHING that went on and was not easily fixed! The people they send to repair are always on the lookout for extra fees from the homeowner. I finally had enough and went to Americas First Choice Home Warranty. I hope this company is better

We are extremely disappointed and frustrated with the poor customer service we have received throughout this short time period. I am appalled that their website describes their company as ?reliable?with fast and friendly service? because that is the complete opposite of our experience. Time and time again, we were disillusioned to think they would fix our problem. We had hoped to never have to resort to using it, but relied on our realtor?s expertise and referral to guide us in selecting a reputable warranty company. The following is a summary of the problems that we had with their company: 1. Run around. We have endured the absolute LONGEST battle with you to fix this stove gas leak. Our problems started the week of March 5, 2012. We noticed the smell of gas in the kitchen of the property and appropriately contacted Southern California Gas Company to investigate. They found a leak in the pipe leading to the stove (which they fixed) and also another leak coming from the stove. His exact description was ?Leaking gas when burners on. Leaking under sealed burners.? He red tagged the stove and advised us to contact our home warranty company to fix the appliance. A repairman from Premier Appliance (sent by First American) came early that week and could not find the leak. Our tenant was present and did not understand the scope of the problem so the repairman left. We called back again and notified them that there was still a leak with smell of gas, so he came back AGAIN on March 9th. Not to mention, he was late. He was supposed to show between 10-1pm and showed up at 1:30pm. Why they would send the same repairman to find a leak he could not find before is beyond my understanding. Again, he could not find the leak and stated that he would order some parts and come back. We waited and waited for the parts to arrive. They stated it would take 3-5 business days. Finally on March 22nd, 9 days later, he came to replace some parts. When he was finished, he left the apartment without notifying anyone, along with a gas leak still open. Needless to say, he didn?t fix it. In contacting them, the next step was to contact ANOTHER repairman. Igor from AG Appliance showed up on March 24th and fixed a leak and left. He also showed up late, an hour after the time period he was supposed to arrive. However, there STILL was a smell of gas leaking and we called Southern California Gas Company AGAIN, who stated there was still a leak from the stove. In addition, he informed us that the manner in which the repairmen accessed the stove permanently damaged the stove and gas lines and that it was not repairable from this point. When contacting ythem again, we were floored that they would send a THIRD repairman to confirm everything. Seriously?? All the money you spend on repairmen, our time wasted waiting around for incompetent contractors, and the frustration we have regarding the problem and you STILL want to send ANOTHER repairman to diagnose the problem? That was enough. 2. Timeliness. Our problem with the gas leak started March 4th. It is now March 29th and our problem still has not been fixed. This has been dragged out beyond reasonable time. Claiming to ?replace the system? if it is deemed not repairable is a complete lie. 3. Danger. One of their service repair contractors from Premier Appliance left the apartment with a gas leak running. He left the apartment without saying anything and when we arrived, the entire apartment was filled with the smell of gas. Honestly I cannot imagine that they would not take this seriously. The amount of danger with this situation is beyond words. Would someone have listened if the gas leak led to a death or fire? I cannot believe the irresponsibility or lack of empathy. We have written the Better Business Bureau because of this problem. It is a danger to customers and should NOT happen. 4. Lack of concern. It is unbelievable how much your company is willing to put customers through a long-winded process to drag their feet and not replace the appliance. How can their company stay afloat with customer service like this? 5. Poor Reviews. Have you ever looked up the reviews of their contractors? They are pathetic and it is evident that the only reason they are in business is because they are hired by warranty companies like theirs. Many reviews are one star- with that one star being generous, because they cannot put zero stars as a review. It addition, their company does not have the best reviews either and it is evident why after our experience. We never had our problem resolved and it speaks thousand fold on your lack of concern for a customer. After the 2nd repairman you have to admit that the problem is beyond repair and face the fact that you have to replace it. I am disgusted at how long this was drawn out and how much theircompany dragged their feet in listening to the customer and not fixing the problem. It was a constant struggle back and forth because you had to ?follow protocol? and did not realize that it is beyond repair. There has to be an endpoint with their desire to get ?evidence? that there was a gas leak. I don?t know how many times we have to convince them through a professional that there was a leak. It completely amazes me. Truly their company thrives when no problems arise, but if a customer has a problem we know that it will never be fixed. Purchasing this home warranty was a complete waste of our time and money. Clearly they will never be able to pay back the frustration and time we have both lost from work in dealing with your company and the contractors, so this is minimal in the scope of things. Honestly, from what we have experienced, I don?t think this will even strike a nerve with any of them.
Description of Work: Signed up to provide home warranty. When we needed help with our stove/oven, it was the WORST experience. Please see our story below. This is the letter I wrote to them and the BBB. DO NOT USE THEM. You can see all of their horrible reviews if you google their name. After what we went through with them, I filed a complaint with the BBB to find out that over 1200 complaints have been filed over the past three years. I don't know if that's normal, but they also have foul reviews across the board from every site there is. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/insurance/first_american_home_buyers_protection.html http://www.ripoffreport.com/directory/first-american-home-buyers-protection.aspxhttp://first-american-home-warranty.pissedconsumer.com/ http://www.trustlink.org/Reviews/First-American-Home-Buyers-Protection-205878526 http://www.yelp.com/biz/first-american-home-buyers-protection-van-nuys

It’s worth the money we pay annually for the repair. We started using them from the time we brought this house. I would rate them high on everything. I usually call them back if I don’t get what I want.
