We found something looking suspicious while demolishing the roof of an old shed and decided to call Envirocheck. They came the next day on time at 8:30AM, took all necessary samples and gave us results within 24 hours. Luckily the asbestos test was all negative. I would recommend these guys any given day. They are super professional and responsive. Ten stars from our perspective!

Joshua is great, he takes the time to do the job right. I have a lot of questions and he is very patient. He is the environmental consultant and he doesn't try to push additional services in order to increase the bill. They gave me a discount because I have used them many times before. I wanted testing for the rooms in my house and I trust their lab reports. If necessary I would use Envirocheck Inc again and recommend their service to others.
Description of Work: He had to check where the areas of mold were, and did air testing. I will receive a 14 page report in about a week.

Description of Work: They did a number of services for me. This was an on-sight remediation for mold. Marissa James was particular helpful as were the others.

Description of Work: Envirocheck reformed an asbestos abatement and removal on a house I bought on the West Coast. I had to arrange everything over the phone and only had a few days to get it done before we moved in. They quickly scheduled and performed the work, which was very good. They also cleaned up very well.

The representative, and owner, arrived on time and quickly executed the tests. She was very efficient and explained the process so even I could understand what she was doing. The report was delivered in a day, as promised, and was easy to understand.

They are very good. They do great work. They may be priced slightly higher than others, but their work is excellent. I would definitely use them again. I wouldn't say that my "sticker shock" was due to Envirocheck specifically, but just mold testing in general. I didn't realize all of the expenses that go into it.

Overall, the company is very professional, knowledgable and friendly. The technician came late about 45 minutes, but he was accessible by mobile. The initial testing didn't test for asbestos due to some miscommunication, but Environcheck made good by discounting the actual asbestos testing. They were also good about responding back in a timely manner and provided all the documentation and results via email as well as mailed copies of the receipts and test results.
Description of Work: Environcheck came and conducted some air testing for asbestos. They also did some additional testing on the acoustic ceiling for asbestos to determine the source.

Words of advice-- If you're in escrow and having mold analysis done, post signs so that no moronic realtors leave your home-to-be wide open to the elements. Part of the process for Environcheck's air sample analysis involved comparing inside mold counts to outside mold counts. If some imbecile has left your sliding glass door wide open, then the results can be tremendously skewed. Can you guess what happened to my first appointment with Environcheck? Due to someone else's carelessness, I had to reschedule the mold analysis.. The E-Check people were very understanding and rescheduled the inspection for as soon as possible thereafter. (about 2 days later..) ...They were kind enough not to charge me for their inconvenience. Two days later, the technicians came out and took samples all over the house. The base lab analysis runs around $300-$400 (sorry, receipt isn't in front of me), with at least 3 samples needed (at $95 each).. To be safe, I tested a number of areas in the home (ie: bathrooms, in hopes there wouldn't be any mold from improperly caulked fiberglass shower enclosures. I was lucky-- there wasn't any out-of-the-ordinary readings there.).. I did not feel pressured to test in these additional areas-- that was a personal decision so I could have peace of mind about the new home purchase. The techs also swabbed the mold under the kitchen counter, and were able to take a reading from the wall affected by the buried stucco screed. They were very considerate regarding the hole needed to obtain the sample. Rather than drill a hole into the wall, they were able to take a reading next to an electrical or cable outlet.. (they did need to clearance it a little bit, but that was all covered by the switch plate cover.. no problem there..).. I was told the full analysis for the mold would be done in approximately 3 business days (it took four).. The report was very thorough regarding the specific types of mold (ie: should I be excited that I have penicillin in the wall, rather than some sort of toxic black mold?), though I felt a bit without context since I'm not a scientist. Luckily Steve explained which mold spores were of the "toxic" variety (black mold? I have none, thankfully..), and which mold spores were of the "could be irritating for those who have an allergy to them" variety (thankfully, I have no allergies either..).. What was good, too is that they took moisture readings from a number of different areas around the home. They were able to answer all my questions to my satisfaction. Was I completely satisfied with my experience? Yes and no-- I was glad that the mold in my home was identified (and then successfully taken care of by me and bleach...), but ultimately I felt a bit like Don Quixote tilting at windmills.. The great apprehension I felt regarding the mold was lessened considerably when I found out I did not have black mold.. But, at approximately $1100 (7 samples @ $95 each), it was expensive knowledge that I maybe could have better applied towards remediation.. It's a catch-22, though-- With the proper analysis, it was evident that the mold was an issue I could take care of. If I had called in a mold remediation company, who knows what they would have told me? That's a huge plus for Environcheck-- Their lab analysis is done at their facility, and if I remember the conversation correctly, they do detection and not remediation. This clears them of any sort of conflict of interest you might experience otherwise. (ie: the same company that finds your problem offers to solve it?).. Would I do it again? Yes.. I just wish it was more cost effective.. (the mold analysis run me about the same price as my washer and dryer stack.. or a nice LCD TV.. or a 1967 Plymouth Valiant with a slant six.. dang!!!)
Description of Work: My home had an improperly repaired in-sink erator (...they fixed a cracked garbage disposal case and pipe with plumber's putty.. SERIOUSLY?!) and in the course of its usage, water damage occurred under the sink. My second home inspector (Mike at A Thorough Guy ... see my other report on Angie's list. He was great.) saw the mold under the kitchen sink and suggested that I get it investigated. Also, an improperly done backyard planter covered up the stucco screed suggested water damage in the wall. Lastly, the inspector noticed evidence of water damage in the garage, likely from an overzealous sprinkler system soaking planters under the jurisdiction of the HOA. Or, more succinctly-- I had some mold, I just wasn't sure what kind or how bad.

I called on Environcheck to do a mold inspection of a house I was buying. They were able to perform the inspection on short notice. The technician was very professional, courteous and thorough. I needed the report very fast as the contingency removal deadline was near and the technician e-mailed it to me that very evening. I then received a full printed copy in the mail a few days later. The technician was a bit late, but he called to let me know and his timing actually worked to my benefit.
