The owner was professional and thorough. He took measurements of each room and asked if there were any hot or cold spots that I would like adjusted. He created a plan for perfect airflow and adjusting the upstairs/downstairs temperatures individually. His crew was punctual, personable and hardworking. They covered the carpet and tile with protective material and cleaned up daily. The owner gave personal service to instruct us in using the new system. The system works AMAZING. On a hot day, I am cold in about 20 min. I love that I can turn on just the upstairs thermostat for hot nights. I like being able to control it with an app, too -- useful for pet owners who want to make sure their animals aren't getting overheated.

All employees were very efficient and arrived promptly. The job was completed within a few days, as promised. There is only one item which remains to be taken care of and which we haven't followed up with DGL on because they were so swamped with new a/c installations during the summer. We have an extremely small and cramped attic. It was necessary to install a new duct for the master bedroom and abandon the old duct. The installers informed us that we would need to have someone remove the register and repair the drywall; however, when we contacted a handyman for this he said it would be quite expensive because he'd have to crawl up into the attic and remove the duct from there before he could remove the register and repair the drywall. I notified DGL on July 28th that I felt it was their responsibility to remove the old duct and we would take care of the register removal and wall repair; however, I have received no response from them. I have not followed up with DGL on this since I thought I'd wait until winter to do so.
Description of Work: They removed an old furnace and installed a new furnace and a/c. They also coordinated with a company that did our house insulation to assure that the job was completed properly. The insulator had informed us that a large area at the front of our house couldn't be insulated; however, Gene of DGL scanned it and found that it could be insulated and scheduled the insulator to come back to complete the job, which they did.

I saw DGL as an approved contractor on the Edison website. Figured they MUST be somewhat decent. Scheduled an appt (they assigned Roger and he showed up within the timeframe cited). He was one of 6 bids for the job. He is the only one who didn't bother to look at my existing unit. He sat at my dining table the entire 1 hour 15 mins trying to push sales on me. Most of that time was spent trashing other companies. He said that DGL contracts with Home Depot, Costco and Lowes but yet he couldn't give the Costco pricing or the Home Depot pricing "because it's a conflict of interest." That was so odd since other contractors were more than happy to comply. Then he went on to trash Costco customer service. I found that odd since he clearly knows nothing about customer service and here he is attacking the one company that is KNOWN for customer service! I asked him several times if he wanted to take a look at my unit. He said, "Why? We're just going to replace it anyway." He didn't bother to see the shape of my unit, measure the opening, checked the capacity, nothing. He proceeded to tell me that I needed a new EVERYTHING: AC, duct work, registers, blah blah. Even a new heater (no one else said that). It's hard to believe anything he says if he's not going to check things out! He didn't even PRETEND to GLANCE at the existing unit! I had allotted 2 hours of my day for that appointment. Since it was clear he was not going to do the work (nor get the job), I didn't see the sense in wasting any more time on him & pushed him out the door. He promised to send me the estimates "that night." Of course I didn't get it. Just to test him, I texted him the next morning reminding him that I hadn't gotten the estimates. He didn't respond. It's baffling to me that certain contractors take the time to drive to a customer's house, sit there for X amount of time to make a sale, and then not follow up or follow through with the bid. Of all 6 contractors, DGL was the worse company we dealt with. I would never recommend them because they dropped the ball on the very first step. You only get one chance to make a first impression.

I found this provider on the Southern California Gas and Electric website and they also boasted that they were an authorized Lennox air conditioning retailer. I made an appointment for today, between 8-9 a.m. I explained when I made the appointment that I would stay home from work in the morning to meet, Roger, the estimator. After 45 minutes, and no sign or call from Roger, I called the provider. After 10 minutes, I received a call back from Bridget that Roger "wasn't feeling well and tried to call me this morning." I explained to Bridget that that was untrue, as I have been waiting by my phone all morning. I clarified with her that no one from her company is coming to my house today. She said that was correct, but wanted to reschedule. I explained that I stayed home from work today to meet with Roger and would not have received a call if I had not called them first. She apologized. I told her to take my name off any mailing lists and to expect a bad review. As this provider can't even keep an appointment for a quote, I doubt they would be able to complete any job on time. I would not recommend using this provider.

Our central AC went out around 3PM on Saturday afternoon in the middle of the heat wave. I had good experience with DGL in the past and called them. As senior citizens with various health concerns, we were rather worried. Andrew and Chris responded to our home in less than an hour. They replaced the capacitor and two fuses and got things working again. From the initial call to completion was less than 90 minutes!! It was a wonderful experience.
Description of Work: Fast response to AC outage. Could not be happier with the response time on a Saturday. The work was done in less than an hour by Andrew and Chris. What professionals. Highly recommend!!

The guys did a great job of installing the system yesterday. I had a new system installed in a rental house I own and they were very nice to the tenants, they put down drop clothes inside and outside, they filled all the holes in the exterior walls with foam insulation and cleaned up all the loose cellulose insulation at the end of the day. The only thing I noticed that I wasn't delighted about (but I understand) is that the flowers along my driveway were stepped on to get into and out of their large trucks and to unload the equipment. They had two HUGE trucks and I have an old narrow driveway. They couldn't really help but step on the flowers. It was hard to get an estimate visit scheduled due to the distance from their Orange County office but it's worth trying to work around Gene's schedule. Because they've been trained and certified as acceptable contractors for the utility company rebate programs they look at things holistically. I was delighted when Gene, the president suggested I consider installing attic insulation at the same time. DGL could provide a discount to the insulation installation price when they installed it the same day as the heat pump install. He provided me with the paperwork for the rebate and a separate proposal and bill too. He made it super easy. Everyone was very professional. They were wonderful. They're small, little business. I had to use them through my community association, but I will tell you that they were very good. It wasn't anything I had control over, but I did use them and paid a little extra for several other services done by them while they were here. They were very very nice people, family business. It was through the association, and I have a small condominium converted apartment unit and I had to replace my heater. The association paid for about $975 or $1000 of it and then I upgraded it to a little better system, and I paid about $900 more for it, and they changed out my vent. It was sort of a little specialized deal because these were converted units, so it was a little bit more complicated. They did a wonderful job. First of all, they were very courteous, and they were having to deal not with just with me, but also with the community association. So, they had to get approval from them first. There were some delays but it was nothing that was their issue, it was our issue on our end, because we had things like there were pavings at the parking lot and so we had a delay thing. I have no complaints about what they did. They were very professional. There were some delays but they were not delays that were caused by them. They were caused by the community association because we had a three-way communication going on. As far as myself, personally I think they did a great job. I'm basing them on my personal interaction with them, not their interaction with the community association. I would hire them again. I found them to be very reputable. I think that's probably the part, they're very reputable, very professional, very friendly, very very helpful. I had a baseboard that needed to be cut down a little bit in order for them to put a new intake grill on and the guy that was here, he just went ahead and did it for me. He cut it down for me so that we could put the new grill on that it was fit. It was very hard to find the grills that I wanted to fit because these are old units going back to the 70. So, the one grill had to be special orders. They've been around for a long time. I looked them up also on Nielsen, I can't remember where else and I had they had good reviews of what people say. You might take a look at Yelp too to see what they're saying. I was pleased with the attention to details that they did for me.

Michael fixed the problem with our furnace. Other companies claimed they cannot fix it, and can only replace the furnace. One contractor even on Angie's list who had many more ratings told me, that I have to change the furnace and the ducting, have me a quote of $14,000. Michael, Jean and Andrew are very honest. Their quote is $1,100. They fixed the problem in a few hours. Mike even came on Saturday evening for diagnosis, and came back on Monday evening after getting the parts. This is the company I will call again in the future.

Description of Work: I first met Gene Loflin (the owner of DGL) when I was looking to replace my entire HVAC system. He was one of five different companies I engaged during my diligence process. | |First off if you are looking to purchase a five figure HVAC system, I would highly recommend selecting a vendor that is SCE Platinum Certified (there are only a handful of these in the Los Angeles area). These vendors are held to a much higher standard and are required to perform rigorous testing and calculations to ensure the equipment you purchase is able to efficiently deliver the required air flow to all areas of your home and isn't either over-sized or under-sized. Then upon installation, a third-party inspector is required to come out and confirm the system is actually delivering what it was designed to do. | |Though this process is incredibly time-consuming and may seem like overkill, given the amount I was spending, I simply didn't want to leave anything to chance. Just the initial quoting process took about a week to complete. Gene showed up for about 90 minutes and performed a number of measurements. Then he went back to his shop to perform additional calculations and ultimately delivered a quote a few days later. This was a far cry from some other vendors who literally showed up for 5 to 15 minutes and produced a hand-scribbled quote for $14k to $18k. I very much appreciated Gene's thoroughness and diligence as it gave me great confidence that the job would be done right. | |I also really appreciated Gene's ability to take advantage of both manufacturer and utility company rebates. Using these programs, Gene successfully drove down the cost of my project by approximately $4k. In fact, by the time I took the rebates into consideration, Gene's pricing was either lower or on par with all other companies I looked at. | |After I finally selected DGL, Gene sent another team of technicians to my home to perform several hours of additional testing and calculations. Through this testing he was able to downsize some of my technical requirements, driving my price down another $400. A week or so later, installation began. Overall, I could not have been more pleased with the install. His crew was incredibly meticulous and careful (always wearing booties in the house and thoroughly laying down plastic to avoid damage to my flooring). They even installed decking in my attic to make my unit more accessible for future servicing. Upon installation, he and a third-party performed diligent testing of the system to ensure my home was getting sufficient air-flow throughout. It was during this process that they uncovered a significant flaw in the manufacturer's suggested settings that was causing my system to occasionally trip. Rather than simply ignoring the issue, Gene sent a technician who spent over 12 hours trouble-shooting the issue and driving the problem to resolution. At the end of the day DGL delivered a carefully designed, highly efficient HVAC system at a very reasonable price. I could not be happier with my experience and highly recommend DGL. |

DGL Air Conditioning helped me prove to the bond company that the previous a/c guy had place an incorrect size unit as well as incorrect combination of furnace/ coil/condenser. I accidentally found that out when I tried to register my products and was told that that particular furnace /condenser would not give me the energy rating which was stated in my contract. I had a hard time finding another company who would go against another " good old boy in the club" Then I found Gene of DGL Air Conditioning. Gene, the owner of DGL Air Conditioning , did the required testing which all a/c company should do before making a recommendation as to what size unit is correct for the square footage of a house. Many factors are taken into consideration such as type of insulation a house has, high ceilings vs low, open spaces, etc. . I had been sold a four ton combination unit with incorrect combination furnace, coil.condenser. The previous guy asked how many square feet in my house and what size unit do you have now? i told him and he just said, "Yep that's sounds right" Gene's calculations showed I need a 3 ton combination as well as a different combinations of furnace, coil, condenser.. Gene is also a man of high integrity and honesty as he resisted to the pressure that the first installer made when he went to see Gene to try to have him change his "numbers" as to what my house actually needed so that I would be unable to prove to the bond company that I had been sold the wrong units. Gene's INTEGRITY and HONESTY helped me save my case and I had the first company take their equipment and give me back my money. I prevailed because Gene refused to bend under the pressure. Of course, I used Gene to install the correct size unit. I want everyone to know what a professional Gene is and what a great man he is personally. The a/c industry does not regulate themselves and we the lay people are at their mercy. I got lucky to have found DGL Air Conditioning. It's company that does not cut corner. They do their homework. If you want an honest company that does the work correctly the first time and doesn't try to cut corners and cheat you, look no further DGL is the one to call. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache and money in the long run.

DGL did an excellent job repairing our AC unit and therastat that went out on a 100 degree day. With a child with special needs in the house, we were desperate to get it fixed ASAP. The install went fairly smooth, with some hickups and delays, but nothing not considered normal. The crew was very friendly and professional and worked hard in the heat we were having. Gene did the full heat load calculations on the house and sized the new system properly and had it approved by SoCal Edison. Install went smooth and the A/C and heater have worked great since. With all the rebates at the time we ended up only paying about $5,500 for the whole system.
Description of Work: Shortly after moving into the "new" house, the A/C stopped working. Come to find out its super old and just needs to be replaces. Had a complete new A/C and gas furnace installed with new ducts.
