Big Y Yardage

How'd it go? TERRIBLE! When I went into the store to browse the fabrics, I was shown only a few of the color and material type I requested, even though there is a second room with books and books of fabrics. I did not tell them a $ limit, so I don't know why, they were not helpful in showing me other fabrics. Help was hard to find as all three employees were either busy with another customer or completely out of sight somewhere in the back. I finally decided on two possible fabrics and purchased samples. (Nothing is free in this store.) Three phone calls to schedule reupholstering were not returned. This seems backwards as I had not purchased fabric yet, but as they assured me the fabric I chose was in stock in the store, it's how they do things. When I went into the store to actually order the material I chose, I was told that they did not have enough of the sample they sold me to cover my sofa, EVEN THOUGH I GAVE THEM THE MEASUREMENTS WHEN I PURCHASED THE SAMPLE! They suggested they cover the back of the sofa with a different fabric. Very unprofessional! I found, also, after discovering another upholsterer who will do the work, that Big Y overcharges for labor by a few hundred dollars. The two other upholsters I checked with do it for much less. Stay out of this store if you value your time, money and professionalism of work and also if you want someone to care about you, the customer.

The realtors in my office recommended this place. I needed chairs reupholstered and they had a great selection of fabrics. Their prices are reasonable and their quality of work is excellent.
