Quality work at a fair price. What a concept! Yes you have dozens-maybe even hundreds of options- for resurfacing and remodeling your pool. And the question we get all the time is “why should we go with Alan Smith Pool Plastering?” To be up front with you, we’re not the cheapest contractor. We’re also not the fastest. If you are looking for fast and cheap, head down to the Home Depot or Lowe’s or call around to some of our competitors. That being said, our work is not exclusively for the rich and famous either. In fact, our typical customer has a 15,000 gallon pool, makes between $75,000-$100,000 in household income, and spends between $5,000-$15,000 with us on their pool and spa renovation.(yes several choose to upgrade and remodel their entire backyard with pavers, patio covers, masonry and outdoor lighting) In other words, we cater to people who can afford to do the job right the first time. People who want the job to outlast their lifetime, and we don’t want to save a few dollars by using cheap materials and labor instead of quality products and an experienced work force. Here’s what your really need to know. Our pool surface warranty is 10 YEARS because once we resurface your pool it is NOT coming off since we use advanced pool prepping technology that creates a high strength bond. Most of our jobs are from past customer and referrals from friends, neighbors and family-they like us enough to come back. We do a really good job-and we have since 1981. We DO NOT clean pools. Matt came out to give us an estimate and spent a good hour giving us a lot of information about resurfacing our pool. We chose Alan Smith pools because they cared. From beginning to end we had constant attention to detail and timing for each phase of the project via email and in person with Ron. A special shoutout for the hydroblast crew who removed our pool fence (first time!) and replaced it so I didn’t worry about my little dogs falling in the empty pool. Thank you to everyone at Alan Smith Pools for your kindness and excellent work. We highly recommend!

ASP completed the pool and spa resurfacing job 18 months ago and resolved a few issues that arose at a later date during the service warranty period. The pool and spa were not adversely impacted by the unexpected issues experienced with several related devices. ASP demonstrated that they have the expertise needed to properly diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Thank you for your review. We just posted a before, during, and after picture in the portfolio section. This was such a an awesome and involved job with so many changes made to the pool and backyard. We completely re-plumbed the pool and spa and even raised the spa 18". When we re-plumbed the pool, we made sure to split the main drains for safety purposes. Ever since the VGB act we prefer to split the drains or install a channel drain; that way children cannot get trapped on the drain. On this job we also put in a new skimmer, a dedicated pool sweep line, a dedicated auto-fill, new electrical service to the pool equipment, as well as 3 new LED color lights. We did quite a few structural modificatons to the pool. We shallowed the pool to 7 feet, we added a baja bench as well as raising the spa. New natural stone coping was installed around the pool and spa. New tile was also put in around the pool and spa. We also installed nice little 4 piece Rico Rock Waterfall. After we finished pouring new concrete and building planter walls and veneering the walls and bond beam, we finished up the job with a nice new pebble surface on the pool. This was a really fun project that was actually on Alan Smith's old street he used to live on!

Thank you for the nice review! This was a job from 2008 where we resurfaced the pool with a new Gemstone Sandstone pebble finish. The customer went with the Blue Diamond with Sapphire color selection. We also did quite a bit of coping and tile work. We removed the old coping and put in new steel reinforced poured in place colored concrete. We installed 2 new light niche and conduit for the pools lights. We were able to repair and repaint the older artificial rock as well. I just put up 3 new pictures of this job including a before and after. Thank you for taking time to review Alan Smith Pools!

Thank you for the great review! We appreciate honest feedback both good and bad. This was a fairly standard remodel project where installed a new skimmer, replaced an old copper line with 1.5" PVC, upgraded the tile, replaced the old coping, and resurfaced the pool with Glacier Blue Sparkle Quartz. The customer was very hands on and was able to save on the project by doing their own deck cutting and re-pouring of the concrete! The customer also installed their own mastic which saved them even more. We put up 3 pictures in the gallery under the name Mealey Pool Remodel in Westminster.

Description of Work: I wanted a pool/spa company to help get my 25 year old in ground spa back in top shape as four of the five jets were not working well. Patrick Jackson, their Plumbing & Electrical Manager came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it within 10 minutes, no charge, really!. (Two other spa/pool local well known companies said they couldn't fix it) He did a great freebee service. So, when he started to leave I asked for a bid for new plaster, tile and pump. I can't say enough good things about Alan Smith Pools and Patrick Jackson.

Description of Work: It was difficult to get an appointment. I called the office but had to call the specific estimator to come to my house myself. "They don't schedule for them" So after a few messages I finally got an appointment. The gentleman was very nice and was a wealth of information but when it came to follow up there was none. I had asked for specific information in my quote and was given about 60% of the answers I was looking for so I left a message reminding of the other information I had asked about. He was very nice and apologized for forgetting but then never sent me the information. So I decided I was done with them and never called back. The gentleman never called to follow up on the quote that he did provide so I felt as though they didn't need my business so I didn't give it to them.

We are disappointed that the member would characterize our efforts in this manner. As she indicated in her response, our Designer spent considerable time providing both general and specific knowledge regarding her ideas for a new pool. Unfortunately, the general budget that the member was looking for was significantly different than what the actual costs for this type of project would demand. While we always strive as a company to have our staff educate potential customers on the options and the potential issues they may face with their projects, the Designers do have to apply a certain reasonableness to the potential of matching a customer's ability and willingness to pay with the expectations for their project. When the gap is too significant, a Designer will attempt to politely decline to continue putting together estimates and providing on-going information on different elements of a project, until a reasonable and realistic budget for a project can be achieved. After an initial significant investment of time and effort, it seems unreasonable for the member to expect a Designer to continue to provide detailed information for their project when there is little or no potential of the Designer successfully signing a contract and being compensated for their time.

Description of Work: We had an appointment scheduled with one of their sales reps. The first time, I had to reschedule, however, I did so a day prior to the appointment. The second time, the sales rep called (Casey) said he was running late and asked to reschedule, which was was a little irritating but we rescheduled again. The third time, he said he was running late AGAIN (10 minutes before our appointment) and he would be pretty late. Okay, by now we had enough and told him not to bother. He wasn't even phased by that news...no apology, no explanation. Terrible customer service.
