The whole experience was horrible and now I do not trust or believe contractors in general. I checked the license before hiring RJP Contracting, however I was not aware that negative information is kept secret and will not be seen unless the bond has been canceled and even then it will disappear once the bond is re-activated. It is hard for the consumer to actually find out if the contractor is reputable. This is a huge dis-service to the homeowner due to mechanic liens, un-licensed subcontractors etc.
Description of Work: I hired RJP General Contracting to make an addition to my garage. The project started out ok, but quickly progressed towards disaster. I could see many areas of concern and when I brought them to the attention of the company owner, Robert Perez he always listened and talked like he understood and would correct the areas of concern, and his favorite saying was their are no problems just solutions. Unfortunately the solutions never happened, it appeared he never communicated anything to the actual workers or they were just did not care. I quickly was made to feel that I was expecting too much, however this was my house and my money that was being spent. I originally advised Robert Perez that I did not want any un-licensed subcontractors, however he ignored this request and used un-licensed subcontractors. I continually requested to see the licenses for these people and was told no problem I will get them and show them to you, however that was a lie. The entire project turned out to be a disaster and ended up going to the contractors license board and the bonding company two times for resolution, however it will cost more to correct than I was awarded. I was not a member of Angie's list when this horrible experience happened and I just want to warn Angie subcribers about this contractor. I am still trying to correct all the issues created by RJP Contracting and almost two years later I still have not been able to use the addition.
