Description of Work: He come and write a detail proposal on how to replace the whole air cond and how much it will cost me. |After one week, my air cond is done, I have to paid home insurance company to fix it for me. |Basically, I paid them for nothing, and cause my air cond dead.

I reviewed the work order (invoice) for your AC Tune Up Call on 6/18/14. At the time of our initial inspection of your equipment on that day we found that it was not operating properly...it was freezing up. You stated in your post that all we did was tell you how much a new unit is and try to get you to replace your system. This is not true. Given the age and condition of your existing equipment we recommended replacement, but we also gave you a price to repair the system on the invoice you signed. We can only give you options based on our professional opinion. Your system did not break after we left, it was not working properly when we were there, as noted on the invoice you signed. Our technician gave you two options; repair the unit (for dollar amount noted on invoice you signed) or replace the unit (also for dollar amount on invoice you signed). I am sorry you feel we did not "do anything", but we did, and it is noted on the invoice you signed. We did not just tell you to replace the unit.

Description of Work: I felt that Excel performed a 'bait and switch'. Excel offered a review of my HVAC system, which they performed. But then the technician came to me to say that two expensive elements in my unit were in dangerous condition and that he recommended I replace them for several hundred dollars beyond their initial offer. He implied that I would save money by having him do the work while he was already at my home. | I would be leary of this 'bait and switch' tactic from other Angie's List contractors.

(removed member name), I am sorry you feel as if we were trying to "bait and switch" you. We came out to do a maintenance on your system. Unfortunately during the inspection we found problems with several parts in your system. The technician is correct that it is less expensive to replace the parts while we are there. Isn't that basically true for any service work you have done in your house? On his invoice he did show you that by doing the work while he was already there, saved you $144, not to mention the discount of $80 for being an Angie's List Customer. The purpose of a maintenance is to make sure everything is working fine, and to point out any possible problems. This is not "bait and switch"...this is "service". The technician was very specific on his invoice, not just telling you the parts needed to be replaced, but also "why" they needed to be replaced. We would not be doing our job if we did not point out these problems in your system. It is no different when you take your car in for an oil change and then they also find that you need brakes or some other repair. Again, I am sorry for your impression of what our maintenance of your system found. All we did was point out what was wrong with your system. Trying to prevent small problems from damaging your system and turning them into big problems I wish I could say or do more for you on this. But I don't know what else we were supposed to do when we found the problems we found. When these parts do fail we will gladly honor the price we gave you...with the discounts...as if done at same time as maintenance.
