Description of Work: we needed hardscaping front and back yard -- removing old lawn and adding boulders to front, and paving over old patio, replacing a trellis, and removing old lawn in back. Also installed irrigation system (drip) for new plantings front and back.

Description of Work: Tyrone's bid was about $5000 less then the next highest bid. He was also available sooner. He has very good guys and I saw Tyrone here every day checking on things. They did an incredible job with bricks and planting and I am absolutely everything.

Description of Work: The services were the complete re-configuring of our garden and transformation of the garden to a very simple and elegant Zen-style garden on a very steep slope. The work included help in creating a rock and sand centerpiece for the garden, anchoring grass cover on the very steep slope, creating a sinuous stone staircase through the garden, placement, installation and wiring of two antique Japanese lanterns, and coordination with the builder of a Japanese style gate and the electrician. Tyrone Perry is a genius in creating rock patterns and very beautiful rock stairs and paths. His advice on plants and their placement is also excellent. The gardeners worked in silence, without disturbing us in the house, in a project that took 8 months. The result was magnificent.

Description of Work: I wanted a native plant garden and Tyrone said he was familiar with native plants and plant design. There was some hardscaping like stucco work, putting in pavers and rocks. He is good at the hard scape but not the plants. He doesn't oversee the work of the crew so if a particular thing wasn't done properly, Tyrone didn't seem to notice. In other instances, he noticed but did nothing. Some of the plants looked like the nursery was unloading some of their less than desireable plants and Tyrone didn't know the difference. He is a personable, reliable & decent person but I can't recommend him for a native garden. He replaced a few plants that died. I didn't ask to replace more but I should have. I just got tired of the whole thing and was glad for it to be over.

Description of Work: Tyrone Perry performed a number of tasks for us: 1. Our property is on a slope in the Berkeley/Oakland Hills. Tyrone created a new drainage system for us, to replace the broken drainage system that was constructed in 1978. 2. Tyrone installed the irrigation system in the garden, including installation of the timer. 3. Tyrone also designed and created brickwork walks and walls in the garden and worked with us in designing and building a Buddhist shrine in the middle of our garden. 4. Tyrone installed lighting in the garden, including conduits and wiring, so that the garden is now lighted by our collection of antique Japanese lanterns. 5. Tyrone refinished the floor of our terrace overlooking the Bay, including hiring a contractor to replace the tiling on the floor. While doing this he replaced shingles which face the walls of the terrace. 6. Tyrone helped us line the area around our outdoor Japanese hinoki hot tub with river rocks. 7. Tyrone regularly maintains our garden with tasks such as scrubbing moss buildup off the brick walks. Tyrone is a talented designer who adapts quickly to our need for Japanese style design in our garden (we have lived in Japan for most of our lives).
