 + -1 moreWe asked RDM (Rick Miller) to replace our front door lock and handle. Our home was built in 1910 and the front door is original but the lock and handle had been replaced enough times so that the door had multiple holes for the lock core, etc. The job was tricky and we knew that which is why we hired someone to do it for us. We realized that if we weren't careful we could have easily broken the 100 year old beveled glass in the door or left gaping holes marring the appearance of the door. Rick did an excellent job and maintained a professional attitude even when it was clear that this was not going to be a simple door handle replacement. I am very happy with the final result, both with how beautiful my new door handle is and with how well it was installed.

Description of Work: Rick did a great job. We are very happy with the work. We have one outstanding issue with some concrete discoloration which he is going to fix once the concrete has cured which will be 90 days. I'm sure he will fix the issue. We needed to replace a walkway that was of poor quality and wash cracking and eventually broke. It was both an eye sore and dangerous to walk on. We thought that roots had caused the damage but Rick discovered that it had been poored without rebar. They did it correctly and people have noticed an improvement.

 + 0 moreRDM was very knowledgeable about decks and explained in detail what needed to be done to repair the parts that were damaged by dryrot. They did not try to oversell or do more than what was necessary. They completed the work ahead of schedule, which we appreciate since it rarely happens with repair jobs. The repaired deck and attached stairs are very solid now. They also replaced the outside lighting and it is working fine and looks good. The only negative - very minor - was that our tenants complained about the sawdust left in the garbage bin and a plant got destroyed (don't know for sure if it was RDM's fault). Overall, we were satisfied and would use them again.
Description of Work: Repair rotted deck framing and portions of the attached stairs, replaced outside lighting, repainted garage door.

 + 0 moreThough I hated to have to do it, I decided to go with another contractor. This is not because of anything that Rick did wrong, in fact, this was a very difficult decision because Rick and the other contractor were both excellent. When I called Rick to let him know, he was gracious and understanding. I hope to have the opportunity to hire him in the future.
Description of Work: I called on Rick to quote on modifying a large laundry room with an adjacent room with just a toilet into a full enclosed bath with shower and vanity while retaining a smaller laundry room. Rick arrived promptly for the first appointment, and we spoke of the details. From the beginning he accurately interpreted my needs and the limited budget I was working with. He promptly submitted a proposal via email that reflected this. I made a few modifications to the proposal and returned it to him by email, and he revised his proposal accordingly. Rick met with me again so that we could discuss some of the finer details of the project, and he was again prompt and professional.
