Move went pretty well but some furniture was stained while left on truck loading gate in the rain between trips. In better weather, I would definitely use Jay's Small Moves again!

I had 8 very old and valuable pieces of furniture to be moved from Emeryville to Oakland. Robert and Abal arrived on time and were very polite. They wrapped each piece in blankets, secured with tape. They worked in a well organized way and were done in a short period of time. They delivered the furniture within the 2 hour required minimum. That was a really impressive thing. I think this company operates with honesty and quality. Both of the men who did my delivery were pleasant and respectful.

The crew from Jay's Small Storage were punctual and were very nice guys. So far, so good. However, upon going back to the storage space several months later, we discovered that they used extraordinarily bad, bad judgment as they stacked boxes and jammed numerous items into the storage space. Truly "professional" movers would have simply informed us if they determined there was insufficient space. Instead, they (1) stacked heavy boxes on top of light-weight boxes - some with fragile items inside - and a number of those boxes were crushed; (2) packed outdoor storage containers so tightly together or with heavier containers on top, or positioned some horizontal containers vertically - so that the containers themselves were crushed on the ends, rendering them useless and damaging the contents; stacked heavy boxes on top of hanging-clothing-boxes, which absolutely destroyed those boxes, leaving the clothing inside scattered & exposed & damaged. We wanted to look through our stuff in the storage space to find a few items and sort through some things, but instead we encountered an absolute disaster, as we can't even budge the containers jammed into the front of the space, and will now have to hire somebody to do that for us - months before we are ready to move our belongings from the storage space to our new home when we retire out-of-state in the Spring. We will have to take a number of seriously damaged items to the dump, and will have to pay to replace a number of ruined storage containers & boxes. Once we are able to get into the space, we are just hoping that a number of fragile items - that we really care about after all these years - have not been destroyed because these movers put heavy boxes on top of boxes clearly marked as "fragile." When I called the office of Jay's Small Moves and informed them about the state of our belongings in the storage space, all I got was a lame apology; no offer to reimburse us for the damage caused by the unprofessional, irresponsible decisions made by their crew when they put our belongings into the storage space. So, no - I would never use these movers again, and would recommend to anyone who chooses to hire them (as they are relatively economical) that you supervise every single action & decision of the moving process - especially how the truck and/or storage space is loaded, because truly "professional" decision-making can emphatically NOT be counted upon!

When I first called, I spoke with Jay who very courteously answered my questions. I decided to book a date on the spot. The movers came right on time and immediately got to work. The manager in charge was very polite and professional. There were 2 other men who did most of the moving. One of them was very nice and when we arrived at the new house, helped me put a rug down and place furniture where I asked him to. The other mover acted like he would have rather been anywhere else. Overall, my belongings arrived unscathed but there was one incident - my couch was a bit large to fit into the front door and had to be angled just right. Before I knew it, one of the movers jumped over the couch to get inside the door, putting his feet on my couch as he clambered inside. I did not appreciate him climbing on my furniture in his shoes. Honestly, it felt like they were trying to get the job done and out of there as soon as possible. When it came time to pay, I found a mandatory $75 fuel charge added to the bill. I do not remember, however, being told that there was a fuel charge when I talked to Jay on the phone. I was a bit miffed at that, not only because of not being told about it ahead of time, but also because the move was only 2.5 miles to my new place, so I think $75 is way too much. I might use this company again, but I would be very clear upfront about ALL costs and would talk to Jay about which movers I would want to be on the job.

These guys were great. Showed up on time. Finished the loading in 30 minutes and actually beat me to SF by 15 minutes. they were polite, efficient. The whole process took about 3 hours. and the price was quite reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone in the Bay Area looking for small move.

I am very happy with the services provided by Jay's Small Moves. They communicated, in advance, the pickup and delivery time. The movers (Jesus and Jorge) were friendly and professional when they arrived at my home and made sure that the television was positioned properly to my liking. I was pleasantly surprised at the total cost of the move-quite reasonable!! I highly recommend Jay's Small Moves for moving services in the Bay Area. Thank you for your OUTSTANDING service!!
Description of Work: Jay's Small Moves was able to meet my schedule in moving a very heavy 55 inch television from a storage facility in Oakland to my home in Fremont. Despite a miscommunication in firmly scheduling the move, I was able to establish an agreeable pickup and delivery time 3 days prior to the move with the most friendly customer representative.

The move went very well. They called ahead twice to make sure of time. GPS in truck allowed them to find Antioch location no problem. Came in, wrapped china hutch in moving pads then secured top to bottom with plastic cling wrapping. Did same to the small chest of drawers. Drove to Pleasanton (50 miles southwest of Antioch) and delivered the furniture. No dings/dents or scratches period. The hutch is 75 years old (close to an antique) and approximately 200 lbs. Enrico and Ricky carried it off without problems. Charged $110 per hour two hour minimum. Fuel cost (for the truck etc.) was $75 additional. Gave a 5% discount for Angie's list coupon. Included a basic insurance without charge but could offer to two other levels of insurance for additional fee but this was not required for this type of move.
Description of Work: Came to location in Antioch California, loaded a large single piece china hutch and a small vertical chest of drawers delivered them to Pleasanton Ca Address.
