Jay explained everything he did and was very patient with our questions. His team worked quickly and cleaned up well after the job and both roofs look great. (We'll see this winter how well it all performs.) Overall, it was about the best one can hope for in a roof job. Side note: Our contractor had purchased some enviro-friendly (formaldehyde-free) plywood for use in the house. It was sitting on the back deck and Jay's team used it by mistake for the roof. When our contractor discovered this, Jay drove him to the store and purchased replacement plywood of the same grade. I think this speaks quite highly of Jay.
Description of Work: Jay put new roofs on both units of our duplex, a 3-br 2-story house, and a 2-br 1-story cottage. The house had 2 broken rafters and required plywood on 2/3 of the roof. Jay worked with our contractor, who repaired the rafters, stripped old layers of roof material, and put on a completely new roof with a ridge vent. In the process, he replaced some rotten wood at no extra cost. The roof on the cottage was improved in the replacement, by better placement of flashing to prevent potential leakage, and improved venting.

They were excellent. After they did the work, a year or two later, they would still come out and fix any issues. They would also give me advice as to how to maintain the quality of the roof. I really have no isssues with them at all.
Description of Work: They redid the roof on my home.

The owner, Jay, was very responsive, easy to deal with and always communicated clearly. He answered all my questions (I can ask A LOT) patiently and pointed out some non-roofing structural issues I need to fix. He didn't just mention it in passing. Jay made sure that I understood what he was talking about and what I needed to do, despite the problem being un-related to the roof work. Jay and his crew showed up, started and finished when they said they would. The entire job took 2 days. They also did a great job cleaning up after themselves. They actually left my yard cleaner than when they started (!) and there were no complaints from my neighbors, whose houses are within 10 feet of mine. Jay Roofing gave one of the lowest of 4 estimates I got (other estimates were from Precision Roofing, Acker & Guerrero and Beck Roofing). I was worried about going with such a low bid, but I was most comfortable with Jay. Part of that comfort is that Jay has only crew, so the person I was dealing with for the estimate would be the person on-site, supervising the job. With some of the other companies, I would have been signing a contract with a salesperson or supervisor, and then having a new, unknown person on-site overseeing/doing the work.
Description of Work: For a 100 year old, 660 sq. ft. HOUSE: removal of broken gutters and several old roof layers down to the original skip sheathing, replacement of rotted eave sections; application of 1/2" plywood, 30# felt underlayment, 30 year asphalt-coated fiberglass shingles (Landmark brand), 35 ft. of ridge vent, 70 ft. of aluminum gutters with 4 downspouts and new metal flashing around roof edges. For old wooden 2-car GARAGE of unknown age: removal of old roof, replacement of rotted sections; application of same underlayment and shingles as for house, 40 ft of aluminum gutters with 2 downspouts, and metal flashing around all roof edges.
