Harry Clark Plumbing & Heating

About us

Harry Clark started a plumbing service company called Grand Ave. Plumbing in 1946. The company moved to Piedmont Ave. and changed the name to "Harry Clark Plumbing." Harry Clark along with his wife Madeline, ran a successful neighborhood plumbing company. Some years later Mr. Clark passed away. Madeline Clark, came from a family of plumbers and had worked with her father when growing up. Madeline was not ready to retire, or sell. She applied and succeeded in becoming a California licensed plumbing contractor. One of the first in the state. In 1976 Mrs. Clark was ready to retire. She found Donald and Beverly Marshall, who worked in the industry since 1952. They bought the company. They continued the tradition of the local plumbing company specializing in service for the Bay Area. They hired their youngest son Brad Marshall, a union trained journeymen in 1985. By 1989 Donald and Beverly were ready to retire. They sold the company to their two son's, Brad and Don Marshall. Today, Harry Clark Plumbing and Heating Inc. retains its roots as a specialized air conditioning, heating and plumbing service company. We have expanded the service base to include: sewer repair and replacement, heating and air conditioning service and installation. Today's company enjoys the status of a premier service AC contractor providing the California Bay Area with the finest residential and commercial HVAC and plumbing solutions.

Job was ok. It was with code. It was a rental property. They could pay more attention to my freshly painted house. They didn't lay a protector on my deck.

Harry Clarke responded with a fair estimate for work to be done for the East Bay MUD certification. Although they were not able to do the work immediately, we agreed on a start date and they followed up as planned.. When working on the sewer lateral, they noticed that the discharge pipe for the sump pump needed work. The work was done promptly at a reasonable price. The tenants/new buyers noted that Harry Clarke was responsive in answering their concerns regarding the sump pump work.

The first employee completely misdiagnosed the problem, and wanted to charge me $6,000, bring out a backhoe, and tear up the street in front of my house. After more than a week, I called HC again to find out what was going on, since I never rec'd a follow-up call, nor any written confirmation of the initial diagnosis and bid.

Once I approved the quote ( they actually recommended to get more quotes, which I did) they were very accommodating with the installation date to ensure we have heat by Christmas. Fast and very clean installation.

Same day service to replace a leaking water heater. Did a clean and nice job taking out the old water heater and installing the new one. Made sure there were no leaks. Took about 1.5 hours to complete the job.

They did a good job and were referred to them by our realtor. We had a really good experience with them. They were really fast in providing us a quote. Their quote was really competitive compared to the others guys who we had checked out. The technician who installed our furnace was really professional. He was a little old and gruff but definitely knew what he was doing. He had a lot of experience and made us feel easy. We have been really happy with the furnace and feel like we had a really good price on it as well. It was done really quickly. Their prices were on top of the line just like high end everything because we had got a quote which was in the same ballpark for a much lower quality furnace from a competitor. We liked the competitor too because we got a good feeling from him and thought he would do a great job but his quote was way higher. If we had got the same quality furnace from the competitor it would been crazy expensive compared to the current experience would have been.

They did a nice job. The guy was very helpful and even found a leak that we had. Also, did some research on a possible recall I might include me. They did very neat work.

They were exactly right on with their estimate. They showed up on time. They were very clean. They had no problems with my kids being around. When I had an issue or question afterwards they would come out the same day to answer my questions and fix the issue.

We provided extremely clear direction about what needed to happen, however the plumber moved the valves to the incorrect location, causing 1+ hours of rework. Additionally, as a result, he left 2 large holes in the side of the house that *we* had to repair. He also didn't have all of the supplies with him to do a proper job and overall was very sloppy.

When we called to provide feedback, the gentleman we spoke with was extremely hostile and rather than listening to our feedback and offering to remedy the situation, he became extremely defensive and said he didn't want our business anymore. I have never been treated so poorly by a vendor before in my life and would not recommend Harry Clark to anyone else.
