The price was fair, they did the work exactly as specified, and they cleaned up after themselves. Ultimately, it was good experience.

The estimate that this service provider gave me was too high. He sounded very knowledgeable, but the price of the deal was deceptive in comparison to actual cost of the project that he gave me.

CertaPro Painters of Berkeley was very responsive and efficient. They were also detail oriented. They really worked with me to help choose my paints and did a wonderful job making my very old and worn home look beautiful completely inside and out!

Only needed two sides done since the South and West sides get a ton of sun and the current paint was failing. They spent several days hand scraping the walls and, in general, doing a good job of surface preparation. I specified the top coat, a Behr Exterior Flat, based on the latest Consumer's Reports ratings and they used it, despite it not being their standard exterior paint. They they applied a prime coat plus two top coats using an airless sprayer. They then did all the trim using a Behr Exterior Satin by brush, working off ladders. They had to stop temporarily to allow me to address a dry rot problem around the living room windows. I was impressed by two things that occurred when we ran into the dry rot issue. They recommended another contractor to address the issue, which was a good idea because it involved more than a little wood work. When I did not like that contractor's proposal, they had no problem with me getting my own contractor (found on Angie's List - Jay Van Bemmel, an "A" rated handyman on Angie's List) and they waited for my contractor to repair the dry rot before they finished. They even graciously had the scaffolding erected for that window so that the dry rot contractor could use it to fix the problem. Yes, they had included scaffolding in their proposal for that part of the house since it was so high but they were gracious in having it in place for use by my contractor and waiting until he was done. Overall, the entire paint job took about 3 weeks, though this included the dead time addressing the dry rot issues. One of the things that most impressed me was how clean they kept my decks and the yard during this whole process and, believe me, the scraping generated a huge mess. They did such a good job taping and laying down plastic on the deck, that I could barely find any paints oops that needed cleaning-up. Strongly recommend them.

Our entire experience with the CertaPro of Berkeley team couldn't have been better. Our project started off with Kevin the estimator, who answered all of our questions in a clear and friendly manner and provided a bid within fifteen minutes of doing a walk-through. Christina, the office manager, made herself available after hours to make sure the shade of our walls was exactly what we were hoping for. The owner, Soumil, was personally involved, ensuring our project could be completed on an advanced timeline and making an in-person appearance at our house to oversee the start of our project. Lastly, the painting crew headed by Christian, did an incredible job in a very short amount of time. In fact, they did such a good job on the walls that we had to add in the ceilings last minute because of the stark contrast between Christian's work and the previous painters' work. We would recommend CertaPro of Berkeley to anyone and will definitely be using them again when painting the bottom floor of our home in the future.

The painters, staff and owner were prompt, reliable and responsive. The quality of work seems excellent. The crew was professional, courteous, efficient and kept the work site clean. The price was affordable. My only complaint was that several of the outer edges of the window trim were initially missed on one side of the house. I pointed this out on final inspection and the crew quickly took care of those areas. Several weeks later, I noticed the same issue on the opposite side of the house. I contacted the owner and he quickly sent a team over to fix the missed areas. While it was unfortunate that I had to point out these missed areas, in the grand scheme, this oversight was a minor issue that was minimized by the responsiveness of the owner and crew. I would hire them again for future painting work.

The painting was very nice but he got paint on my blinds. It is interesting there was no paint on the rugs. By the time they were done I never wanted to see or hear the name CertaPro Painters of Berkeley again. And it wasn't that the paint was not done nicely, there are a few places they had to pass on the second time and when the supervisor came I said that I don't want something wrong here and the person who did it would come back and he would do that and something else he said, the supervisor said I just have to get going because I have this house up in the hills and I thought also. And I called to talk about the paint on my blinds and the man said he would help me out and he never came out and for the most part I thought I am happy with the painting and I am really tired of people hooking around my house. At some point I thought I am not unhappy, I am disappointed with the paint up on my window coverings and I thought about paying some money. I paid a lot for those window coverings and I am fortunate that they are cream colored and the paint on the ceiling of my house is cream colored and so fortunately it was that as opposed to the walls.

It was really good. The paint that they first put down on the steps started to come up as soon as the rain hit it and they were really good about sending someone out and getting it fixed. There have been no issues since then.

The bid was extremely detailed. I had it reviewed by a professional house painter friend in the Tahoe area and he was impressed with it's detail and price. The job site supervisor did a detailed walk-around with me before starting work and the work plan was agreed upon. Their work every day was efficient and neat and there was ongoing communication. The supervisor, Sarbelio, was very easy to work with and did some extras like replacing a broken vent and patching a hole in the siding from an old light fixture. The quality of the work was excellent and the price was very fair. The whole experience was entirely satisfactory.

I tried to call the estimator back. He never returned my phone calls for his estimation. It's all about the feedback. When you get the estimation, nobody calls you back. When you call and want to discuss it, there's nobody available. I leave messages, nobody has called me till today. I even called him on his cell phone, he didn't call me back.

CertaPro Painters of Berkeley painted the exterior of my house (part of the house had already been painted) . They did a great job. I obtained estimates from three painting companies that were highly rated on Angie's List. CertaPro gave the lowest estimate by far (less than half of the high estimate). They started work promptly and completed the job in one week (Monday through Friday). Two of the three crew members spoke good English. They were neat, clean, and professional. All aspects of the job were satisfactory and the house looks great.

They did a poor job. When I had complained to them, they did attempt to fix it. Some of their workers weren't fluent in English. I do speak some Spanish but it was difficult to ask them to get what I wanted. They did try to make it right but I would not hire them again.

We were extremely happy with the jobs that Certa Pro did for us on our home.. The preparation before painting was great and the paint job wonderful. We had them do the outside first (an 80 yr old home with a lot of repair work) and were so happy had them do the entire interior with 3 colors. The foreman-Himme was without a doubt, professional, hard worker, always on time, responsive to my wishes and the completed job was outstanding. Could not be happier.

We had been contemplating removing wall paper and painting several rooms for a long time, but suddenly we wanted it done fast (we'd been asked to host a day-long academic conference). My wife had heard good things about CertaPro, so she asked for an estimate and explained the time pressure. Kevin, the color analyst and sales manager, came the next day. He gave us excellent and detailed advice on color options, made very thoughtful recommendations, and agreed to provide separate estimates on each of the rooms. We were so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism that we accepted his bids on everything, which were very reasonable. Sarbelio and Ishmael, the painters, arrived a few days later and worked diligently to complete the work in a week. Both men were remarkably friendly and courteous, and did everything they could to work around our schedule and make their presence unobtrusive. This was no small trick given that we have two boisterous and barking dogs. They are extremely hard workers, very quality conscious, and didn't need supervision, although Soumil, the owner, and Kevin would drop by to make sure everything was going well. Soumil is a conscientious businessman, and when the painters discovered mold under the paint in the bathroom, he came and provided a detailed explanation of why it was there and what needed to be done. The extra work cost us a little more (surprisingly, not much), but in nipped a problem in the bud that might have gotten much worse. I try to provide balanced reviews--the pros and the cons--but in this case there were simply no cons. The work was completed with time to spare, and my wife and I were very, very impressed and pleased. We recommend CertaPro without any qualification whatsoever.

Very well, given the schedule around the holidays...could have been more clear about the days which they would have taken off, though I concede I could have been proactive with understanding this better.

Certapro had done a nice job painting our interior several years ago, so we had them come back to paint the exterior. We had a good experience with everyone we dealt with from the person who gave the estimate, to the painters and crew leader. They communicated well, did a good job, and left the place clean afterwards.

Job went very well from first contact with Soumil to the finish. He was timely, polite, and helpful in letting us know what was necessary and what was optional. The workmen arrived on time each morning and provided us with email and cell phone contact information in case we needed to reach them. When rain interrupted the work they told us when they would be able to come back and reappeared as promised. Each day when they left the site was cleaned up and picked up. Very professional and very easy to work with.

The work took two weeks to complete. The painters made every effort to clean up at the end of the day and they kept all their equipment neatly store in our basement for use each working day. The painting crews changed near the end of the work and we were concerned that the communication might be lost between first and 2nd crews, but the work concluded smooothly and Certpro accomadated our additional requests for specific painting details such as painting of our fron door. All was completed in a timely fashion and at minimal inconvenience to our family.

Estimate was done and very thorough and professional, as well as educational. Salesperson very knowledgeable about paint and process. Owner took over communication when the project began, and was always reachable. The workers did an excellent job considering our house is old and difficult to paint. The final outcome is beautiful. The staff was professional, polite, and considerate of my neighbors. This was important as the homes on our street are very close together (zero lot line). A few things they could have done better- should have been day-to-day communication on project progress and scheduling. It was understandable the crew was working around rainy weather, but one day they showed up to work unexpectedly. They were respectful of the home exterior and garden but I noticed painting tools were rinsed out on the lawn.

Representtive did the negotiation, but he did not honor the Angies List discount until I brought it to his attention after the job was done. Otherwise the job was well done. The painters were extra courteous and respectful, and did more than the minimun required of the job. They finished on time and cleaned up well before leaving.

Estimate was smooth, professional, reassuring (with Kevin). He handed off the job to Soumil, the owner/general manager, who managed Jonathan, the on-site manager (who worked the job with his partner, whose name I can't remember). There were only two rough points in the planning, logistics, communication and scheduling chain:1) Kevin and Soumil seemed to have trouble communicating about schedules. Kevin was pretty sure there was availability on Friday. Soumil was not so sure. We worked this out with a little back and forth in e-mail, but it was slightly off-putting that they didn't all seem to be on the same page. 2) Jonathan wasn't clear that all the previously painted trim and transoms were to be repainted. When my mother and I escalated with Kevin, it was taken care of immediately and Jonathan and his peer did a fine job.

They were on time, clean, responsive, courteous, thorough, resourceful, and trustworthy. I would use this company again!!!

After selecting four companies to come to my home and give me an estimate, I chose CertaPro Painters. Being a woman I'm very thorough and ask a lot of questions when I deal with contractors, mechanics and other folks (mostly men) that do repairs because, I feel that when they deal with women they are often somewhat condescending and very "flip" when talking about the job because they don't think women know what they're doing. Two of the people who provided estimates were at least 1/3 higher than the other two. and CertaPro was the last company I interviewed. Kevin, the sales manager was very professional and friendly, He explained what my job would entail, why he recommended patching a certain area and not the entire ceiling, how long it would take, how many people it would take to do the job and then he promptly emailed me a detailed bid. All of which contributed to me selecting him and CertaPro Painters. I felt like I could trust him, he wouldn't overcharge me and the company and staff were as professional as he was. I had patched a small area on he wall and without my asking he included the texture and painting of that area in the bid at no extra charge. The owner contacted me to schedule the job and after it was completed emailed me again to make sure I was satisfied. I was impressed. The gentleman who performed the repairs was great. He showed up on time, took care to cover the areas and not track anything into my home, he removed the debris, color matched the paint and when he left everything was perfect. You couldn't tell where the repaired area began or ended or that the texture was recently done. He was very skilled and took pride in his work. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. Marsha
