+ -1 moreDO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I purchased an O'keefe and Merritt double oven stove from Apple Stoves. After reviewing their web site I paid a $4000.00 deposit for the recondition/refurbishment of the stove. After 2 1/2 months the product that was promised was sorely lacking. I took the stove to another antique stove repair and had them correct what Apple was supposed to do. The difference in service and pride in workmanship is unbelievable. Old insulation was left in, wiring was a tangled mess, they never cleaned years of grease off of the frame as their web site claimed. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE

Description of Work: It was a house-call for my old Wedgewood stove. My service person was friendly and knowledgeable, and even enthusiastic about these old stoves. He installed a new thermocouple and pilot light for the oven, and then he adjusted and tested all other burners on the unit. He then gave me a quick tutorial about the broiler and other optional vintage items for my model. The best news he gave me was that the stove is now worth ten times what we paid for it 15 years ago!

+ -1 moreWe use Apples Stoves to repair the nearly 100 year old gas stove at our church. The folks at Apple had to practically rebuild parts to get it up and running (there was a leak in one of the gas lines to the burners). They did a great job and saved us tons in having to replace this behemoth. They said with a little regular maintenance, we should get another 100 years out of it.
Description of Work: They repaired a leaking gas line to the burner of a 100+ year old gas range/oven/griddle. They cleaned and sealed the other parts so they all worked correctly. They also put in a flex line to the ridge gas line for earthquake safety.

Description of Work: My vintage O"Keefe and Merritt trashburner gas stove stopped working. Front burners had to be lit with a match and the broiler could barely crank up to 200 degrees. I was hosting a cooking class where we intended to make souffles so a working stove was critical. I called Apple whom we had used 6 or 7 years before and they sent out a most efficient and professional fellow. He explained exactly what he was doing and why and put up with endless questions in a kind and patient way. The stove now works perfectly so those of us who love old houses and antique appliances can keep cooking!

+ -1 moreThe repair went perfectly. I believe there is just one man who repairs ovens for Apple Stoves. He called the night before to confirm, and to mention he'd be arriving towards the end of the 9-11am window he'd specified the day before. Sure enough, he showed up at about 10:45am. He explained to me various things about how the oven worked as he went, and was very kind and respectful the entire time. I mentioned that I was hoping to use the oven the next day for Thanksgiving turkey, and he realized he should make sure the temperature was perfect, so he went to get a thermometer and ensured the temperature was set correctly. The next day, the turkey came out just right. He is clearly very knowledgeable about these stoves/ovens and I'd recommend him highly. The price was: $100 for first half hour (in SF), $50 for each additional half hour, and $250 for the thermostat (which I confirmed was normal on the web).
Description of Work: Replaced thermostat for my Wedgewood oven. The diastat had broken off.
