Our experience with them was very good. They have their own design team. I had a very good rapport with the owner, Gary. He has got a real sense of what he should do in terms of how to maintain integrity. He wasn?t pushy at all. I was able to work with him very easily. I would recommend Acorn Kitchens and Baths to anybody.

We bought our new house in June and knew that we wanted to remodel the kitchen before we moved in. The old kitchen had been updated in the past but we felt it didn't make the best use of the house's most striking feature, a fabulous view of SF Bay. We happened upon Acorn and walked into their shop with an existing floor plan and a lot of questions. Gary and Leah (designers) were attentive and seemed to catch on right away about what we were looking for. After two meetings we decided to see what kind of design they would propose. They hooked us! They presented us with several designs, all of which addressed our concerns and we decided to go with one of them. Their workers were ready to begin demo and with the clock ticking (I wanted to be in our new house by October) we said go. Demo started in early July. We discovered almost immediately that the electrical behind the kitchen walls was not up to code and was dangerous. Also, the wall that was going to be removed appeared to have some structural issues that needed to be clarified before progressing so Acorn arranged for a structural engineer to evaluate the situation and submit plans to the city. There was a lot of active discussion about design decisions and problem solving; we always felt that we had the decision making power in all of these issues (no surprises!) All of the craftsmen (carpenters, electrician, plumber, drywall ) involved were great. They always showed up on time; if they had to change plans they always let us know. The workmanship was excellent. I always felt safe and confident that they knew what they were doing. They consulted us whenever changes had to be made to original plans. They also helped me to coordinate the schedule with other contractors (flooring/counters) There was some holdup with the cabinet order, it took longer to place the order than I thought was needed; then one unit arrived the wrong size and we had to wait an additional two weeks for a replacement. As a result we weren't able to move in until the end of October (and the kitchen was unusable for two weeks after that). But all in all, the project went very well. We are VERY pleased with the way the kitchen looks and the way it works. We were able to have our friends and family here for Thanksgiving dinner which had been our goal.
