I would never ever use this builder again. In fact, we almost walked away twice because we were so disgusted with their practices and lack of customer service and professionalism. They withheld information more than once that ended up costing us more money. They told us they were doing everything to keep our house on track for the closing date so we locked in our loan at a great rate. Then we found out the house would be a month behind schedule by a document sent to our loan officer. They didn't even have the courtesy to tell us. The builder said he would pay for some of the fees for the extended loan lock only if the loan company and both agents ate the cost too. Then when it was time to pay he wouldnt do it. Even after signing a document saying he would. He also advertised his development as having no mello roos. Then our realtor found out from from another client that there were in fact mello roos and the builder knew about for quite some time and never revealed it to us. 17 families were effected by this. We then tried to ask him to comp our upgrades equal to the amount of the taxes. He just flat out rejected our proposal, no counter, no nothing. He did not try to work with us on anything. Even professionals who have been in the real estate business for years say they have never seen something this bad. I understand things happen when building a new home that sometimes can't be helped by the builder. However the way JKB Homes handled everything shows, in my opinion, that this builder lacks integrity and has no interest in working with his clients. It seems to be all about the money regardless of how families are affected. I do not feel I could trust anything this builder said now. If you are looking for a new home I recommend avoiding the potential hassle that comes with JKB.
