Description of Work: Replaced Pipes Under Bathroom Sink

Description of Work: I needed a sewer lateral cleared of roots and a video inspection so I could receive an estimate for a trenchless lateral replacement. Two very personable technicians (one in training) arrived on time and proceeded to snake out the lateral ($188) and then performed a video inspection ($250). When they finished, I was verbally told there was a bad sag in the middle of the line. The video showed many bad joints in the line, bad root intrusions (that had been partially cleared by RR) and the last 10 -15 feet or so of the lateral (near the main connection to the sewer) was full of water (and, thus,the video for this portion was not useful as the video just showed dark water). |Eight days later, on a Saturday, the sewer lateral clogged (after running two loads of laundry) and waste water poured out of the lateral cleanout into the gutter - not good. I called Roto-Rooter to request emergency weekend service and was told it would be $228.50/hr (note: I called three other plumbing companies first but RR was the only one with weekend emergency service). When the technician arrived - the same tech who had performed the drain cleaning just a week before - I had my receipt and pointed out that it had only been a week since the drain was "cleared" and asked if the previous work was guaranteed. I was told it wasn't guaranteed because of the sag in the line. Nothing on the first invoice indicated this sag voided any guarantee. In fact, the guarantee section on the invoice had a "yes" or "no" checkbox and neither one was checked - it was never discussed at all. OK, my bad as a customer. I should have looked over the form more closely and pointed out the guarantee section wasn't filled out at all. |During the second attempt at clearing the line the tech alternated between snaking the line and scoping to see the progress. There was massive root intrusion and almost a complete blockage where the lateral meets the main sewer line (the area that was underwater during the first visit). Multiple snaking attempts finally cleared most of the roots in this area. |So, for $415 and two visits from RR, I finally got a mostly cleared drain that I should have had the week before for $188.
