Marin Tile Remodeling

Greg was polite and cheerful. He did careful work, with two exceptions. First, he's not good about writing things down, so you should write every little detail down for him. He used the wrong grout color on my accent tile, and it looked terrible. Then he charged me to stain the grout white, which it was supposed to be in the first place. Frankly, since it was his mistake, I thought he should have fixed the mistake for free. But he did come up with a solution, and it looks much better, if not exactly white. The second thing was a fluke, but more alarming. He built a pony wall to surround my tub and didn't pay attention when he was putting it up. He accidentally walled in one of my cats! I heard the cat calling in the middle of the night and was able to save him so it turned out all right, but still it showed a level of carelessness that I wasn't happy with, let alone the cat. And then he was defensive about it, instead of just accepting responsibility. But I do think he was glad as well that the cat was OK, and he was more cautious afterwards. All in all, Greg was a nice guy who did a good job and I would hire him again. Also, he has invented the greatest dog wash. Ask him to show you the demo video; it's fabulous! If I had a dog, I would definitely buy one.

I hired Greg because I really appreciated his creative thinking and interest in working out a challenging situation. In the interview he came off experienced and knowledgeable about tile as well as plumbing issues. His rate was competitive, even on the lower side, but I hired him because I enjoyed talking about the project with him and knew I could work with him. He was meticulous with setting the tiles and taking his time to remove and demo what needed to go without damaging any further tiles. He was fair with his hours and was helpful and understanding when our backsplash tile came in defective and needed to be reordered. I prefer hiring independent professionals as I feel they take more pride in their work. Greg fits my hypothesis. He still is coming back to install the art tile. If I need to I will update my comments after my final install. Otherwise, I'm happy to recommend Greg to others.

The projects went fine overall.

Greg is one of the finest craftsmen I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His attention to detail, design of tile geometry and professionalism are extraordinary. Every grout line is consistent in a complex design and his division of the spaces is exact. His design input was appreciated as were his work habits and cooperation above and beyond the call. I was impressed with his respect for cleanliness and our privacy. His bid was fair and the extra effort he put in to make the job perfect in the face of several changes was without complaint and good natured. On seeing the job people have commented that "it looks like a magazine bathroom." Thanks Greg!
