This is an unqualified rave! Ponce Masonry is FIRST rate. I would recommend them unconditionally - to anyone. I first met Pascual Ponce, the owner, 20 years ago at the time of the Northridge quake. At that time, he rebuilt 180 lineal feet of a low retaining wall that had collapsed at my 1936 Spanish style home. He also rebuilt my front porch and walkway, restuccoed the house to look like the ORIGINAL stucco and replaced the hearth on my fireplace. Over the years, I lost touch with him. When my back patio needed remodeling, I went searching for him and found him on Angie's List. You will not meet anyone more professional, ethical, courteous, responsible, punctual and just generally NICE to work with than Pascual. And his workmen are the same. The quality of workmanship and attention to detail are OUTSTANDING. And you get great value for your money. The current project was a back patio fashioned of a mix of hexagonal pavers and flagstone (some in cement, some just sitting on top of dirt) and covered with one of those 1950's metal awnings (@ 12' x 10'), by now faded, rusted and bent from wear. Pascual and his crew removed and replaced that with a beautiful flagstone and brick patio (750 sf) on a concrete base so it will remain stable and smooth. The old patio cover was replaced by a wonderful wood structure (attached to the house and with roof tiles that match the existing roof). It's brand new and looks spectacular, but it is so integral to the look of the rest of the house that it feels like it could have been part of the original build. This was the main project. In addition, I asked for a gate into the back yard and an area to put my trash cans so they wouldn't have to sit out on the patio. I asked if they would "join" the 2 concrete "runners" that were my old driveway to create one flat, even surface. And I asked for an underground drain that ran under the entire patio to carry away rain water from the downspouts in the back. That was all done (and beautifully) in a little over 2 weeks - demo to finish. |Book Early: Once Pascual starts a job and his customers see the quality of his work, they typically ask him to take care of a "few other projects." (I did.) So my best recommendation is to meet with him, discuss your project and get on his calendar as soon as possible. Even if you have to wait a few weeks to start, you'll be happy you did.
