So, it has been cold here in La recently and the new home we bought needed a thermostat installed and reprogrammed. I called Kahn, whom the previous owner bought the Carrier unit from and serviced last year. The gave me a 4 hour window for the same day, which I was fine with since it was a Saturday! When Ramiro showed up he had no education on the system, how it worked, and what to do to fix it. I asked him to at least just diagnose the problem if he can not fix it, he couldn't o that and said he would have to talk to someone who understood the complexities of the unit, of course that person was in the office and given it was the weekend they were not available. I am all for people learning on the job, but maybe they should do it with a seasoned professional on the call instead of wasting my time and money. The only good thing is that Mike, the manager did refund my $78 after I called him on Monday, now only if they can give me back the 4 hours I wasted waiting and the 1 hour I spent trying to understand the technician.

Kahn was extremely professional and punctual. Every time we had an appointment to meet, they were there right on time. They explained things completely including our options for ducting, size of unit, etc. They arranged for the necessary permit and made the whole process very easy for us. They suggested an additional duct/register in the living room where my son spends the most time. They covered the areas well before they worked, and cleaned up the work areas beautifully each day when they were done. I felt their price was fair. My son is extremely happy with his new A/C system. I would definitely recommend Kahn Air, and would use them again in a heartbeat.

I called Kahn's Air Conditioning last year to get an estimate on the cost of replacing my expired 1-ton, 12,000 BTU GE ductless AC split-system installed in my 400 sq. ft. permitted accessory room. From first contact, Kahn's employees were courteous and efficient. Jim Berry came to my house and was personable, thorough and knowledge-able, inspiring great confidence in me that any work Kahn's did would be first cabin. And I am certain that is true. My problem only was that Kahn's estimate was three times higher, nearly $6000, than any other estimate I received. Moreover, Mr Berry tried to up-sell me to an 18,000 BTU, Fugitsu 1.5 ton system (18RLXFW) (that sells online for about $2000). I like the Fugitsu brand, and I might expect a 100% markup on the job, but six grand? When I questioned the estimate in a follow-up conversation, Mr. Berry (very politely and not defensively) attributed the extra $2000 to "workman's comp and miscellaneous." I really liked Kahn's customer service, but I just couldn't justify that markup. I got three other bids at the time from AC contractors (all of whom recommended 1-ton systems that came in around $2K), but I tabled the project, not finding the right fit.

The technician arrived right on time; he was courteous and knowledgeable. I mistakenly gave incorrect information as to the type of AC I have. Luckily, he had extra materials on the truck so that was no problem. He completed the service and informed me of a problem I had not noticed and we scheduled a follow-up for additional repair. The company itself is very responsive. Mike Carson (VP) is open to communication via phone or EMAIL--a rarity it seems. I've enjoyed working with them and I'm glad to have found them.

During a recent heat wave, we discovered our AC was not working. My husband recently installed new thermostats and we thought maybe something he had done during the installation created the problem. We called Kahn AC because they installed our AC system over 10 years ago. We have used them for periodic system tune-ups over the years and have always been pleased with their work and professionalism. Ed was available to come out the same day. He was prompt and listened closely as my husband explained what he thought the problem was. Based on my husband's amateur "diagnosis," Ed quickly assessed the problem and discovered the cause: a low-voltage wire in the attic needed repair. He had everything he need to perform the work and quickly repaired the wire. He was friendly, courteous and professional. We don't hesitate to call Kahn whenever we need AC repairs or service.

We are renting out our condo in Studio City and the tenants said that the ac/heater would start and then turn off. Kahn Air were great. I called them and they were wonderful about contacting my tenants and keeping me in the loop. They showed up on time and were very accommodating with my tenant's schedule. They had to order the part but as soon as it arrived they were at my unit the next day and fixed the ac/heater circuit board. Would HIGHLY recommend them. Very fast, friendly, and efficient. And AC/Heaters are always expensive so the price is what it is.

I had a great experience the whole time with this company. I feel listened to and very well taken care of. They have always called in advance and have been right on time. The phones in the main office are always answered promptly.

My first contact with Kahn Air Condtioning was on Monday 11-12-2012. John, the salesman came to my house less than an hour after I called. The next day, Dale came to take measurements, and the installation was scheduled for the next day. Two workmen arrived shortly before 8 a.m. on 11-14-2012. The demolition and replacemet of the furnace and coil was completed by 5 p.m. on the same day. They were careful not to damage anything, and I have found no damage since. Both men very professonal as they answered my questions. When the work was completed, they even vacuumed the floor! That actually surprised me. I highly recommend Kahn Air Conditioning .

When the estimater arrived he walk in sat on the couch and gave me an estimate an started his sale,He gave me a bunch of papers about what was to be done,He didn't ask me what I wanted done ,.He didn;t check the atic or closet where the heater was to go.He did check the electric box and then walk in the house on my new carpet with dirt on his shoes.He didn't acf like he wanted to work at selling because he never tried to explain how things were to be done.Needless to say I found a good contractor that did a excellent job.

Kahn Air charged $320. The technician was evasive about the price of the part, stating that he didn't know, and that he uses an industry standard book to determine the price of the entire job. After he left, I googled the part # from the defective part, and it was $50 with shipping. A local parts dealer in Van Nuys carries the same part at the same price. So, the bottom line was that I was charged $270 for 20 minutes of labor, and $50 for parts. Apparently, Kahn Air is not interested in charging a fair price (e.g. $50 parts plus $120 labor = $170 total for a 20 minute job), and absolutely not interested in repeat business. Rip-off the customer, make a ton of money, and move on to the next sucker. I would suggest (strongly) that you find another Angie's List A/C company to look at your problem A/C unit.

I thought that they did a good job. They were neat and clean. If there was a problem, they came out right away to fix it. I think that they are very reliable and they're easy to deal with.

Ed arrived, he was very friendly, and took a look at my air conditioning unit, (it wasn't getting that cold) went on the roof and checked out the compressor. thats when all the bad news started. my compressor is on the way out, my unit is too small for my house and my duct work needs work (this last part i knew). the office is going to give me a call and send someone out so i can get a quote for what it would be to fix everything. Ed put 2 pounds of coolant into the system, which lowered the air coming out of my vents by almost 10 degrees. I know its a band aid on a big problem but it should definitely help cool my house down. i spent $175.92 for the coolant, this is with my 15% off Angies list coupon. if i do end up upgrading my AC unit they will use the 175.92 as a credit... which is awesome. overall very happy with my experiance. Ed was very smart and thorough.

Our roof top AC started to make an odd electric buzzing noise and began blowing out hot air. We've had this problem before with our old unit and knew it was probably the capacitor. We called Kahn AC and made a same day appointment. The technician arrived towards the middle of the scheduled three hour time frame. The technician was polite and professional. At each stage of the service call he explained what he was doing and why. He diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor and explained to us that our unit's compressor was old and that we should begin to consider an AC unit replacement. The technician replaced the capacitor, checked our coolant level, and answered all of our questions. Our AC is back to blowing cool air. After the Angie's List 15% off coupon, the bill came out to around $305. This is steep considering the replacement capacitor is at most $50. However, it is reasonable to pay a premium for a highly rated service. The question is how much that premium should be.

I referred this company to my parents, seniors in their 70s. Their A/C was out and it was over 90 degrees. They got there to evaluate the problem within 1 day. When it was determined that system needed to be replaced, which was expected, it took one additional day to prepare a full estimate of replacement and install costs. The install was completed 2 days later. The company was professional and everyone they dealt with seem to really know their job. They may not be cheapest, but they are honest and do the job right the first time. They plan to call them for any future service or maintenance.

The repair person was clean, professional and very polite. He treated me and our home with respect. He worked hard to find the easiest solution before going to more complicated and expensive option. I plan to use Kahn for all future service and purchases.
