FIRST QUALITY PEST CONTROL

First Quality Pest Control did not come to inspect the apartment because it was already evident that my apartment was infested with bed bugs (we found live bugs, received bug bites, etc. and also diagnosed during a free consultation from Terminix a few days before contacting First Quality pest control). Instead, my landlord arranged for this company to call me and set up an appointment for the first of 2 treatments. I spoke directly with Bea, who seemed to be the admin, and she briefly described the process and directed me to the technician himself, Bob, for my more detailed questions (i.e. what kind of chemicals are used during the procedure, what are the steps in the entire procedure, etc.) I want to note that this company is the 3rd company we looked into so by this time, I'm pretty well versed in the types of questions I need to be asking. Bob made me feel much more comfortable by describing exactly what needs to happen, not hiding anything, and also admitting that he has gone through a bed bug infestation himself so he understands the amount of effort and inconvenience the problem causes. The day before the first treatment, Bea called me to confirm the appointment and make sure the unit is prepared (clothing laundered and bagged, suspected items bagged, closets cleared out and moved into uninfested rooms, etc.). The next day, Bob showed up with all equipment in hand. I gave Bob the background: After vigorous searching over the course of 5 months, we only found about 7-8 bugs total, which doesn't sound like a lot at all, but I've been getting severe allergic reactions that have led me to urgent care 3 times, and receiving as many as 10 bites in one night. Bob noted that our apartment wasn't considered a heavy infestation since they weren't easily in sight, but they were definitely lingering somewhere. He inspected our mattresses, our headboards, removed the smoke detectors from the walls, moved furniture etc. It seemed like a pretty thorough job. When time came for the second treatment, everything went smoothly. They only offer a 1-month warranty, but our landlord arranged for a 2-month warranty by offering more business from other units. It wasn't until about a week or two after the last treatment, I realized I didn't ask all of the initial questions I had asked the first two pest control companies while I was shopping around for the right pest control company: 1) Were the other units in the building inspected for bed bugs? 2) Were other areas surrounding our unit inspected for bed bugs? 3) Did the landlord mention any history of bed bugs at this particular building? I think the reason why I forgot to ask these last questions was because by this time, I've been drained and frustrated from the whole situation, repeating myself to other companies over the course of an entire month. It took First Quality Pest Control 10 days to finally respond to my email (they were pretty punctual in the past, not sure why the lag now) and they refused to answer any of my questions. They noted that they have been and quot;requested not to answer any service questions regarding this buildingand quot;. I don't know, but that sounds very suspicious to me--wouldn't they just answer the questions if they performed a thorough job and didn't have anything to hide? I think they are valid questions and I'm only trying to cover myself in case of a possible future infestation caused by my neighbors rather than myself. Going back to my conversation with Terminix during our free consultation a few days before First Quality came on board, they noted that there has been a bed bug report made earlier that year, but they never followed through. Considering the apartment only consists of 12 units, a future infestation seems very likely since bed bugs can travel through the air ducts and inside walls. Or perhaps they may be siding with my suspicious landlord because of the side deal they made with the warranty and they didn't want to risk the additional business the landlord promised? I don't know exactly, but perhaps that is something to consider if you're questioning their professionalism. Overall, I haven't seen anymore bed bugs nor experienced any severe bites like I did before the treatment--that is the main goal of this all. I will also say that I won't be living in that apartment for much longer so if a second infestation does occur, I'm glad to say I won't be around to experience it.

Steve told me that Doug was no longer "that involved with day to day operations". In one phone call Steve destroyed a loyal and long term relationship. On top of which, considering they've been a MONTHLY service for me, based on Steve's attitude, I'm now wondering if this pest issue could have been avoided if the were more vigilant on their visits. I'm guessing they're now the equivalent of the "mow and blow" gardeners.... They show up spray and go. I miss Walter of Walters Pest Control.... He was my pest control service for 20plus years and when he passed, his wife referred me to Doug and First Quality. I'm now agin searching for Pest Control service that has integrity and cares about their Clients, and is interested in a long term and loyal client.

They did a good job.

They are dependable and they show up on time. The guys that do the spraying are very personable. They come, they squirt and they go. The price is fair. Any time we have a problem, they come right back. We've used them for a long time and we will continue to use them.

Called and spoke with a lady who seemed pretty nice. She asked me a bunch of questions (sq foot, number of people in the house, etc) about my situation but provided very little information regarding the services they provide and would not discuss any type of pricing. She told me that a lady named Lucy is currently at lunch and would call me back within the hour. No call back. Pretty unprofessional on their part. It's not polite to leave a potential customer hanging. Since there are hundreds of other companies who would happily respond to my request, I will not be using this company.

I've been a repeat customer for 2 years. They do nice work and I like that they call me before they come out so I can keep the dog inside.

I have used this service several times for two houses. They always do the job that they were hired for. I always deal with small companies as you can pin point the area for any problems. The real problem for any of these services is that the insects eventually return in about a year.

I spent around $500 on that service. They seemed honest and helpful. They were thorough and responsive. We were happy with the price.

Everything has gone very well. I like their punctuality, their prices, and the technician is very thorough. I am planning to switch my contracted pest control for my home and rental properties to this company, which will be more thorough and less money than the other company was.

Overall we were pleased with the service. It took until the day before to get the time slot assigned. For us that wasn't a big problem, but I did feel they could have given us our time window a bit sooner (I had scheduled the service several days in advance). However, Larry showed up right in the middle of our 2-hour window and was very pleasant and got the job done. We have not seen any black widows since the service, and in general have fewer spiders in our house as well (just from spraying outside). We would use them again next summer when the spiders return (as they always do). No complaints! Also, even though we probably won't use the regular service since we don't have a big pest problem, their prices for monthly and quarterly spraying seem quite reasonable compared to some of the bigger companies.

Arrived right on time at our rental property. We had sprayed ourselves for crickets but Tennant called to say they were back. Service man was polite, thorough and explained everything he was going to do. I was VERY impressed with the service. He sprayed inside the house and left traps under bath and kitchen sinks. Then proceeded to spray the entire inside of the garage with a special pesticide to insure crickets would not return. He also took a special brush and wiped all the spider webs down from the eaves all around the house. He climbed on the roof to take down two inactive wasp nests. Then he sprayed the entire outside and perimeter of the house and yard for ants and other pests. He was there for well over an hour. Was very careful, clean and thorough. I am changing my long time pest control company to First Quality for my own home. That's how impressed I am by their work. Price was excellent for all the work that was done.

I have the utmost confidence in the company as I have used them for 30 years. The receptionist and pest control sprayer are very nice and professional. The $300 fee is for a year's service. I pay the company every other month. One week in advance, I receive a postcard of the date and time of the next pest control application. If the date does not work into my schedule, they are more than accommodating to my needs.

THIS WAS A ONE TIME SERVICE. I WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS OF THE SERVICE. THE ANTS DID NOT COMEBACK. THERE WAS NO HARD PRESSURE SALE FOR MONTHLY ON-GOING SERVICE.
