Description of Work: I found this company through a demo at Costco; therefore, Costco offers discounts and their approval. I found every person I encountered to be highly friendly, professional, punctual and well-trained. The work was done efficiently, paperwork was handled swiftly, follow-up and support has been incredible. Our family is looking forward to the benefits of solar power. It has only begun. I would highly recommend SunRun!

Strongly dislike their customer service. Needed a tag re-attached to their meter that would but a few moments to re-attach but Sunrun wanted to charge to have someone sent out to re-attach.

Description of Work: 24 solar panels and associated inverter, meter and wiring were completely installed in only one day. Installers painted all new panels and conduit installed to match house house color. Efficient and professional! Only work I had to do to activate system was to turn on the switch when SCE gave the OK to do so.

SunRun is a very professional company. From the onset, Brandon came to our house to discuss the install. We chose a PPA (lease) rather than purchase the solar panels. He showed us how much it would cost us per month and the savings we would soon see as we begin to generate our own power. They came at the appointed time and installed the panels in one day. No mess, nothing to clean up. The workers were courteous and professional. The city inspector c ame the following day and approved the installation. During this entire process SunRun kept us abreast via email. We are now waiting for SCE to approve and attach us to the grid. From the initial sit down, to obtaining the permits, to the install and inspection, it took only 3 weeks. We already have recommended SunRun to our neighbors who are going solar.

Installed as designed and it works. I did not answer the questions related to price or cost, as REC was selected by the solar company guaranteeing the contract. Now that I have had such an exceptionally good experience with this company, I could easily recommend it to anyone and feel secure that they were getting the best service possible. Again, I cannot comment on pricing as that was not part of the overall experience. REC designed the layout of the panels, ran wiring and conduit, removed and replaced concrete barrel tiles, installed roof racks and the panels. Conduit was run through the attic into the inverter and new meter. REC is also the manufacturer of the panels used on this project and the panels were made in Norway. REC also manufactures at two sites in the U.S. The amount of safety gear and time to set up safety materials each day was very carefully done and never changed. To my surprise, an REC safety engineer arrived on the third day to inspect how the installers were following the company's safety rules. The surprise part was that he drove from San Luis Opispo and I am located about as far east as you can get in Los Angeles County. Everything the installers did was with attention to detail. They did not waste time looking for parts or equipment, as their truck was fully lined with shelves and everything was put back exactly where it belonged for the next time. The work site was kept clean and you would not know they had been there after they left each day. Good quality work, nice people, completed on time and passed inspection.

Their product presentation was efficient and informative. It was a comfortable discussion of the savings solar power could provide and not a high pressure sales pitch. They clearly outlined the benefits and the potential savings. Once we made the decision to go with them the project team took over handling the design and permitting process with periodic updates during key sign-offs. On installation day they scheduled a crew from the Ventura area so they could keep the agreed upon installation timeline. A second crew was added to assist with the installation. Those two crews worked efficiently to complete the project and were receptive to some cosmetic design changes and electric panel placement making a superb finished setup.

When I gave REC a poor review based solely on poor communication (not work done), they called and, to their credit, wanted the chance to rectify my frustrating experience with them. I was pleased and impressed with their commitment to customer satisfaction, and asked them to give it another try. We made an appointment, Tawan showed up on time, and we had a very productive and satisfying meeting. Several days later, two guys came out to site the system. Approximately a week later I get an email telling me the system will be less powerful than the already minimal system needed. More importantly (and annoyingly) it was in a completely different area of the yard. But the most puzzling part of this was their reasoning for moving the system. When I called them for clarification, the project manager told me that she didn't know the answer, but would have someone call to discuss. Never happened. I called and emailed Tawan. Nothing. Based on this repeated dropping of the ball, my feeling is that this is a company that is getting more business than they can handle. It was a big waste of time and I will not be giving them a THIRD chance.

They seem to know their business. We wanted as much to be done in the United States as possible because we don't support China. We went with them, and we had checked them out. We get them to check the system next week, and then they will turn it on. We would recommend them.

Initially, we got a sarcastic hassle from the SunRun Home corp when scheduling the installation but working with REC Solar directly was fairly smooth. Scott, Anthony and Daniel arranged to mount the 16 panels and the meter. Scott is very knowledgeable and professional about the installation. We have a slightly different configuration of the panels in that they were not laid all one roof plane. The company engineers helped us use a west facing and south facing roof. They cleaned up every day.Scott carefully explained to use the sequence of events to get connected to the grid after we receive the approval from Edison. The SunRun Corp. has a link to monitor the system on our computer. REC Solar, North Hollywood, also installs for Costco stores but I read user reviews and found REC Solar that way. Their Solarlicense was not clearly stated for California but through the parent corporation.I was willing to have a sign on my property to indicate which company had done the work. So far, we are very satisfied.
Description of Work: We spoke with a sales representative Henry Nagy after contacting the installation company for pricing and panel selection using our Edison energy consumption bills. Upon signing a contract, a solar layout design engineer comes out to take measurements and evaluate the light and shadows. The designers listened to our requests and accommodated them as much as they could. I asked for two planes: a west facing and south facing roof be used. We have a south facing entrance and I didn't want all the panels on the south side. The installers scheduled an installation date and the installation was done. The crew: Scott, Anthony and Daniel were very professional and knowledgeable. Scott explained how the panels feed the meter in the back and what we needed to do once wehad permission from Edison to hook to their electrical grid.My suggestion would be to look for user reviews of the company. Ideally, know something about the panels: there are many models and companies. We wanted ones that were well made and reliable.

Great company, great service. We're still waiting on DWP to get out for the final inspection, but hopefully it will be soon. Our experience with REC Solar has been 98% great. Only problems we had was some communication issues that created some scheduling mishaps, but nothing major. The other issue we had was after final installation, they installed some rather conspicuous cabling along an exterior wall rather than through a crawl space. They came back and fixed that. They even matched the house paint color after patching the original mounting holes on the wall. The people have been great to deal with. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Installed a 3.18 KW solar system on our south west facing roof. Put in the inverter and routed all cabling in the most neat and tidy way as possible. (after fixing one issue, see below)

On August 23rd, I contacted REC solar based on good Angie?s List reviews. I had recently backed out of a solar lease with a different company. I initially spoke with Audrey Cordell, who was very helpful and informative. She explained how the California rebates worked, and said ?not to pressure you, but REC is guaranteeing Step 6 rebates through the end of August?, and put me in touch with Rick Joseph. I confirmed with Audrey, ?So If I sign with Rick on Friday, you will guarantee the higher rebate?? and she said ?Yes?. I knew I wanted to go solar for sure, and the rebate difference was over $1000, so the pressure was on to decide on a company! I chatted with Rick for a bit and gave him my 12 month electricity usage history. He quickly convinced me that I?d be better off with a much larger system than the previous lease company had suggested. We began going back and forth by email. Rick was super-responsive, quickly answering emails with detailed responses at a variety of hours. Once we settled on a size ? a 22 panel, 5.3kw system, Rick tried very hard to sell me on a pre-paid 20 year pre-paid lease through SunRun. This was extremely tempting; leagues better than the previous lease I came close to going with. I just wasn?t comfortable with not owning the panels at the end, so after much debate, I opted for an outright purchase. Friday came, I signed the contracts, gave Rick my deposit, and the project was off and running! I was handed off to Kimberly Lewis, my project manager who would guide me through the rest of the process. She set up an appointment for a site survey. A couple weeks later, two gentlemen by the names of Holland and Joe came by to look at my roof and electrical system. Very nice guys; they clearly had a lot of experience and knew what to look for. Holland took measurements and many pictures so engineering could come up with a plan. It took engineering around 3 weeks to deliver a plan. Once that was done, Kimberly began working with my HOA. Kimberly did most of the leg-work, and kept in contact with them until our project was approved. During this period I also received confirmation of my SCE Edison rebate ? at step 7. This is where REC demonstrated some truly impressive integrity. I think somewhere in the lease vs. buy debate, I lost sight of the rebate guarantee that Audrey had promised. It wasn?t anywhere in the contract that I signed, and in fact, all of the price estimates I agreed to were at step 7. After informing Kimberly what Audrey had promised, REC took the high road and agreed to pay the difference ? nearly $2,000 less, without a fight! Once the project was approved, the install happened within a week. I didn?t catch the installers? names, but they were all pleasant, and got the work done in 3 days (Joe came back to help on Day 3). They originally had planned to use my full, existing panel by combining circuits to make room, but the electrician argued that a sub-panel would be the right way to go. REC installed the sub-panel and moved some of my circuits to it without altering the contract price. Day 4 was the inspection and we passed. Their work is done and it all looks great! Now I wait for my utility to give me permission to operate. I?m sure SoCal Edison is in no hurry for me to stop paying them, so they?ll drag it out as long as possible. Another thing I was impressed with ? I referred a friend. REC gave me a $400 Visa gift card within a short period of him signing the contract. I was very surprised how fast they turned around the referral credit. From start to finish, I felt very well taken care of by the folks at REC. This was a big purchase and I truly feel I made the right choice in choosing them. Highly recommended!

It went very well, as described above. The only difficultiy I had was the insistance on a binding arbirtation clause in the contract.
Description of Work: The REC solar team educated me in the process and requirements for selecting, sizing, and qualifying to purchase an appropriate solar system in order to obtain the availble rebate from LADWP. Their sales team led me thru the information I had to obtain and provide in order to qualify. They showed me how to obtain pricing per kilowatt comparability from state agency websites. After the signing of the contract, the team laid out the timeline of a typical installation. Their engineering and installation teams then proceeded to beat every due date on that timeline. I will concede that I jumped on each task I was given and aggressively cleared each hurdle they asked me to complete. I can see how any delays on my part could have slowed down the progress. Nearly a month ahead of the often shortened time to installation, the path was clear and the installation went quickly and smoothly. .

Ric Joseph from REC called and we set up an appointment to meet and discuss installing solar electrical panels. Ric was very professional, knowledgeable, complete in his analysis helping a neophyte solar owner understand the benefits and requirements, and patient. We began thinking about solar because we were remodeling our house and and had to remove the solar water panels on the roof. The proposal was very competitive. While we did not select REC Solar because of the solar water panels, we can say nothing but good things about Ric and REC. Good luck with your install - go green - save green and save the environment.

I did extensive online research on solar energy and solar panels prior to interviewing any company. From the information I gathered, I had an extensive list of questions prepared to ask of the sales representatives - including technical specifications, warranties, future service, etc. I interviewed 3 companies prior to REC Solar. Two of the companies were relative newbies to this business, so despite their overall good prices, I did not feel comfortable that they were committed to solar longterm, as solar panels last several decades. One company had good products, but only had their own proprietary panels so there was no choice. Rick Joseph from REC was by far the most knowledgeable of the sales people I have met and had a company that has been around a while to know what they are doing and how to service future problems. The quote was straightforward - not the lowest but definitely not the highest. We decided on a combination of experience, knowledge, and price. As we were remodeling, we did not have the panels installed right away. In fact, it was beneficial as REC was able to do some electrical work while the roof was opened up so that all the wires could be hidden. The installation occurred about 6-8 months after our initial encounter with Rick Joseph. During that time, we decided to downsize the solar project to save some money. No problem from REC. They gave us a few more new quotes, including less expensive panels, and as solar panel prices were dropping, we achieved even more savings. REC took care of state rebate and permits with city. Day of installation came without any delay. Crew was very professional. Come and gone in 2 days. Rick sent us follow-up e-mails to make sure everything was OK. Overall very satisfied.

I called REC to schedule an appointment for estimate. The lady I spoke with (Ms. Audrey Cordell), was extremely polite and helpful. She answered all of my questions and sent over a confirmation of the appointment for the solar energy consultant. The original appointment was for 2/25/10. I had made adjustments at work for this appointment; however, the consultant (Mr. Nagy) called an hour and half before the appointment time to reschedule to 2/27/10, which I obliged. Then he left a message on my phone to change the appointment to 2/26/10. When I called back, he did not want to change the appointment time anymore. In adddition, he didn't even think he could make it to the 2/27/10 appointment that we had set-up together and wanted to reschedule that. Overall, I find this experience to be quite distasteful and unprofessional. I understand that things may come up and need to reschedule, but it is unreasonable to change this many times. I really did not want to continue to adjust my schedule and work just so I, the customer, can accomodate Mr. Nagy's needs. I have cancelled my appointment with Mr. Nagy, and have decided not to consider REC for my solar installation due to his behavior. With all due respect, solar installation is a very competitive market. Although REC has a good position in the field, it will not continue to be a leader if this is what the customers are receiving. Think twice before you call them. There are so many other solar installers that you do not need to be treated as second class citizens.

Called REC Solar. Got connect to a call center agent. He took down all the information and said that a local agent will call me. Days went by, no phone call from the agent. I called the agent. He said that he was out of town and never picked up the message. Told me that he will formulate a report and send it to me via email. Days went by. Finally received a very generic report. Never heard from the local agent again until one day he decided to call my husband. He declined the service, because we found another company who was more responsive. The local agent has the guts to call me and pitched again. I said no. He said that I contradict what my husband said to him on the phone. Talk about sneaky! Anyways, for anyone out there looking for a professional solar company. Bill from Solar Unlimited is very knowledgable. Came to our house after our first phone inquiry. Looked at our house and provided very detail information on cost and process. He followed up with phone calls and answer many many questions that we had. REC might be the largest solar company there is. But, it lack service from the get go.

This was just a very easy, surprisingly smooth process. REC was quite professional and did exactly what they said they would do, including navigating the whole permit process and facilitating the DWP rebate. In addition, they worked with my roofer to coordinate their installation around my roof install, which made the solar install particularly clean. My roofer had only good things to say about working with REC. They were clean, prompt and the final product looks great and works well too...meter runs backwards when I'm not running all the lights and the big screen TV. I would imagine that there are other, cheaper contractors doing this work, but it's clear to me that this is not a project that you'd want to entrust to a company that hasn't got all their bona fides and time in the field.

My husband, Wayne compared REC Solar with 3 other companies. He invited each company to meet with us at our home. After speaking with each of their Reps, the both of us sat down and compared their offers, did extensive research on the internet, spoke to past clients, spoke again with the Reps with more questions and finally decided the best company to go with was REC Solar. We have never regretted our decision. Everything that was promised us was fulfilled. Solar panels is the way to go; our electrical bill for the last few months averages about $1.55; AMAZING - We should've done this a long time ago. We refer REC Solar to everyone we know ---even after they were paid we still get follow-up calls months later. :-)
Description of Work: These guys are professional, caring, and honest. They know what they're doing, they're neat and do a great work. They gave us a time frame and completed the installation right on schedule. When they left our home it was left perfect just as if they were never here. With regards to their price - the best of all the other companies and yet with great quality. REC Solar is the way to go - my husband spent hours researching and it paid off...
